People will glance over the fact that Mike made an artwork everyday for 13 years straight. While also letting VJ's use his animations for free at events like Coachella, and other music festivals. This guy has done tutorials, givin free content to people and stayed consistent for over a decade.
Dont look at this as an overnight success or even something that was easy. Its really not and the odds of you being able to do any of this is incredibly low, especially if you are only going to get into art for money.

It's almost we are living in an absurd parallel world since 2020.
The purpose of NFT is not art, it is creating/duplicating your money. You create art, your rich friend buys it. You give money back, keep the art. The art becomes a token of what has been paid. You liquidate the token, get real money, someone else can inflate it and sell to someone else.
It's basically creating tokens of real money and later selling them for real money, while the owner is left worth the "idea" of value.
Quite genius really, however highly highly manipulated. Not relevant either.

This has been amusing. While everyone is scrambling, trying to figure our how this could have happened, I'm just sitting here laughing my ass off because this is also how the fine art market works. NFTs just point to the absurdity of the things we assign value to. There's no debate on whether or not digital art has intrinsic value, because all art is worthless... And I'm saying this as an artist.
Congrats to this guy for cashing in on 13 years of work 👍

I always figured fine art that sells for millions was just money laundering. It's one of the only large sales that doesn't require a form for transactions over 10,000 (form 8300 in the states).
Just saying, these NFTs seem like a great way to scrub dirty money. A good percentage of the market is probably funded by human trafficking.
It's pretty rare for someone to throw away millions because of 'intrinsic value'. Most people are hoping to sell it for more than they bought, or they're just trying to clean their money. In other words, I can buy an NFT for 50,000, then I can sell it to my buddy for 100,00, he can sell it to another buddy for 150,000 - we just cleaned 250,000. Then we can sell it to someone we don't know for 300,000 because either they too are laundering their money, or they just think they can sell for 350,000 based on the history. So there we go, 250,000 cleaned for free, and it doesn't look suspicious since it's just a couple transactions on a longer chain.
Looks to me like the whole NFT market is made of criminals and gamblers, but at least artists get some money out of it, dirty as it may be.

So I am assuming that this is like selling the rights to a piece of intellectual property. Typically done with a contract and lawyers. Then you can go to court and prove you own something, and sue anyone who steals it, and you are backed up by the laws of the country you live in. Unsure if waltzing into a courtroom with 'NFTs' and nothing else, would be good enough for a judge.

This is basically just a *Digital Certificate of Authenticity and Ownership* AND the "Block-chain (crypto)" characteristic means that it is recognisable by everyone else involved.
Recent "boom" came because there are some parties that scour the net, taking freely accessible pictures, and process them into NFTs (in a way stealing them). Getting the certificate costs a little money

People having a hard time understanding and accepting the idea of virtual asset. This is just the start. We're all online, that'll only continue. Eventually we'll all be immersed in a virtual universe where we are one with the internet, and the virtual will be seen as the real. Nfts make the virtual real, it's the creation of another "real" world. Regardless it's not for you or I to decide, it's up to the whole and what they perceive as valuable, just like they do in the physical world. It's coming, don't let your lack of understanding prevent you from seeing it.

It's understandable that people don't see it yet, but nft will be soon one of the biggest things ever. It's not about some silly art that you can sell, it's about the concept of ownership in the digital world. Imagine, google will sell their first logo as an nft. It would go for billion of dollars cause of his historical value. In 500-1000 years this google nft logo will be much more valuable as Mona Lisa. It's insane.
