We took the 2 most expensive shavers and put them head to head in the barber shop to see which one would win. After testing these on over 100 haircuts and reviewing both the Panasonic Arc 6 and the Braun series 9 we were able to determine a winner. Both of these electric shavers are amazing and can do the job but there are some pros and cons to each one.

I recently purchased both of these shavers to test which one I prefer, and it its CLOSE. I've used a Braun series 5 for like seven years and the battery is finally shot. I loved that shaver and feel loyal to the brand, but this new Panasonic looks and feels sooo good. The biggest difference to me is the sound and the head size. Both of the new Braun and Panasonic shavers performed essentially the same (on my face), but the Panasonic just feels more premium somehow, even though the Braun carrying case is much nicer (hard mesh vs soft leather). Either one is a good choice, I think it comes down to preference.
Hello Barrows first of all I have a question, I own the Braun Series 9 Pro and I only shave my head every 2 to 3 days. I am also very satisfied with the result. Does the Panasonic Arc 6 shave closer than the Braun makes it smoother?
and is it even softer than the brown sereis 9 pro ? would it be worth switching or not, or better wait for brown series 10 ? I ask for an answer would be great greetings stephan ;)
@@stephantsv912 Good question, I felt that both shavers did essentially the same job but the Panasonic felt nicer to me, and cut longer hair then the Braun. I like to go 4 or 5 days between a shave, and the panasonic did quick work with the longer hairs. The Braun struggled and I was pulling more than shaving. I let me dad try both of them as well, and he has been a diehard Braun user for a decade and said the difference was minimal, but he wanted to stick with what he was used to. This video highlights the benefits of the head shave also, so just something else to consider.
@@mrblumpkin100 hello thanks for the answer but I heard that the Panasonic Arc 6 raises closer to the scalp than the Braun series 9 pro, is that correct? and how is the comfort of the arc 6 just as gentle as that of the Braun series 9 pro? I only shave my head every 2 to 4 days, what would be better for me? greetings stephan :)
I am test driving the Series 9 Pro and Arc 6 and tried the Arc 6 for the first time. It cuts closer and great for head shaving. They were equal in performance on the face. Both didn't get the job done completely. The 9 Pro seems to move easier, but in fairness I have 7 shaves in with the 9 Pro compared to just 1 so time will tell. The Pro has handled 4 day growth easy, I do wonder since the Arc was not designed for it, but can still do it, will that dull the blades faster than usual? No contest on the closest. You are right, its about preference. Shave less, Series 9. Shave more, Arc 6. I also didn't get irritation with the Arc 6 and of course, not with the Pro 9.@@mrblumpkin100
I have/am using both for bald head. The Arc 6 cuts closer to the skin, no doubt.Hours after shaving with the Arc 6 I don't feel the hairs like I do with the Pro 9. They say the Arc is designed for 2-3 days growth. I wouldn't push it more than that like the Pro9 because I would worry about dulling the blades and the replacements cost more. Comfort wise, I didn't have irritation with the either. Not sure, if I had a Pro 9 would I buy the Arc 6 too . Makes no sense to have both for me anyway. @@stephantsv912
I tried both the Arc 5 and Arc 6. The Arc 5 I kept as it shaved closer. I love it.
is there a place or way you can try this shit out before buying?
Really the Arc 5???
@@montijo4196 probabaly just amazon as they accept almost anything as a return
@@montijo4196 Probably Amazon, judging by some of the "new" shit I've bought that was obviously used by other people.
Ive had a series 3 for 10 year's and still going. The battery is dying down a bit for the last few months now, doing about 2 full face shave and and head per week before i have to charge it because it feel a bit slower. After having good experience with Braun i decided to purchase the Braun S9 Pro with the travel case/power bank to keep it charged without the power cord. It also has an up to 90 minute run time, others have up to 50 or 60 minutes
I tried both Braun series 9 pro + and Panasonic arc 6. I had Braun series 7, 10 years of use, still works great. Arc 6 is indeed amazing and more powerful.
I am a blade user for 35 years (Gillette Mach 5, and lately Wilkinson Sword Quattro), that is willing to also try the electric shaver approach alternative. I was looking at Braun 9 Pro 9460 and Panasonic ES-LS6A (Arc6). After watching your video clip, which is very useful and clear, I would probably go with the Arc6, as a closer shave is what I am firstly interested in. Thank you very much! Regards, Bogdan
how is it
@@JJ-vp3bd after 3 weeks of use I can say it is a very pleasant surprise. I have followed the instructions and always shaved using gel, and it worked like a charm. No bruises, no irritation, smooth shave, almost like the Wilkinson Sword Quattro Pro. I'm very satisfied with the Panasonic LV-6Q, it's easy to clean with soap and water, after which I put a few drops of oil on the head. The shaver is excellent, it is money spent intelligently.
Man i love my arc 6. It’s better than my safety razor 😮
Check out the babyliss foil 2. I’m new to the bald world but what I’ll say is I bought some nice razors and the babyliss and the babyliss gives me the same closeness without the worry of cutting myself.
@@user-oj8ss4zq3x is it good for face?
I was in the Navy for 20 years and after about 6 years I was stationed in Japan and seen these shavers in department stores. They weren't as nice as the new ones. I used them for many years as my daily shaver. The only problem would be the cost of new blades and folis, but those last me a couple years a set. I didn't stop using them until I retired. They are very reliable and do a great job. I'm considering shaving my head within the next couple years, so I would buy another one to see how it works for shaving my head.

The Panasonic is well known for providing the closest shave. Cannot remember why. Think its the angle Panasonic uses the blades.
Panasonic is a lot smoother and I have own both. Gave the series 9 to my grandson.
Will buy one recently! I am huge Panasonic shaver for years. I used to be braun long time ago. Panasonic beats Philip and Braun any day
What did you go with and close of a shave?
Best review of Braun and Panasonic!
I used to used shavers by going up and down like if i was blending but if you just glide it upward once and it works better and you see it's full potential
Great video mate. Keep up the great work :-) Could u please tell me if the Braun Series 9 gives an absolute clean shave (zero stubble)? I wish to use it for a one day stubble.
@@rockyboy976 yes it can cut pretty close not as close as some of the Barber grade tools on the video I will drop tomorrow. You might be better off going with that because they are cheaper as well.
I have the Panasonic ESLV9QS and for someone who don't want to spend Arc6 money it's a very good alternative. Very similar performance in all domain for less money and the cleaning station included.

@@stephantsv912 if I were you I will keep the Braun 9 pro, is a pricey machine and it will last a long time. Changing it will be a waste. In my case I got the arc 5 , the previous Panasonic model and it cut closer than the Braun and is very comfortable, I gave the reference number o f the model in my previous commentary if your are curious.
@@Mulletsrock23 thanks first but i read the arc 6 shaved closer than the brown series 9 pro ? I only shave my head every 2 to 3 days, and with Braun I have to shave several times over the area, and is the arc6 as gentle and comfortable as the Braun Series 9 Pro or even better?
@@Mulletsrock23 and I also think that the arc6 shaved closer than the arc 5, right?
@@stephantsv912 the arc 6 suppose to cut closer and to be more comfortable but never try it because when I buy it the Arc6 was not sale in North America. My arc 5 vs Braun 9 pro, cut closer and as comfortable, and I was able to cut my 5 day bear without any issue.
If i was going to the barber i would want a cut throat straight razer shave with hot towel but for a quick shave at home the panasonic for me
I’ve used the arc5 for two years and it always managed to make my neck break out. Switched to the Braun series 9 pro+ and wow.. neck is super smooth with zero break out. I’m a little annoyed that the Braun is not water proof lol. So I guess be careful and not use it in the shower. I also think everyone reacts differently with electric shavers; there’s no right or wrong one.
But the braun is water proof, I did a video using it underwater and that was with a broken on off switch in fact it still works fine
@@UA-camBarberAcademy Interesting! I read some comments that it shorted out in the shower. The manual doesn’t seem to indicate much about its waterproofness.
@residentzero Yep: "[T]his electric shaver is also 100% waterproof and can be used with foam, gel, or even under the shower."
Been using the arc 5 for 4 years now
I loved the Arc 5 (over the Braun Series 9 Pro) but ended up selling it and getting the Series 9 pro as it's better on my sensitive skin). Arc 5 shaves TOO close and may cause bumps like it did for me.
What would you recommend for a close face shave? Not just between these two, but in general?
I hust bought the Panasonic Arc 5 a found it unsatisfactory. Is the Arc 6 better? Or maybe the Braun is better?
This vid sold me on the Arc6. I got it this week and have been loving it so far. I use it to shave my head and its fast AF!!!
So Panasonic for a closer and comfortable shave on the face as well? I want the closest thing to clean shaven without easily getting cut and redness (a big problem when I use razor blades or cheap electric razors).
Read where not as comfortable, especially if have sensitive skin.
braun 9 pro , irritaded my skin. go for panasoniz
@@levnad4086 The pro not as comfortable and forgiving as the non-pro. Google “What’s The Best Electric Shaver For Sensitive Skin (2023)? ShaverCheck.”
I have only used the Arc 6 once for my face, but it was not any better overall. Closeness yes, but didn't get the hairs the Braun would miss as well. Comfortable shave and no irritation. I can't give up on it, but I was hoping it would take those stubborn neck and under the jaw hairs completely.
😮 WOW ❤it the arc6 looks like a big time saver I am amazed that it drives through that much hair with no problem whatsoever with no problem and no pulling awesome Eddie this is a must buy for my arsenal first I have to get the sabers trimmer ❤it great content .
For home use only, do you think the Arc 6 blades will dull faster if using on hair past the 2-3 days? I would like to push it like the Pr0 9, but the Pro 9 was made for the 4 plus days.
Can these be used as a bodygroomers around groin area also?????? Surely one of these would be better than a bodygroomer all in one kit??? Please let me know thanks
I’ve had the Brawn series 9 for a few years and it’s proved to be an expensive machine to maintain. Cleaning dock failed & more recently the PCP board as a mind of its own. I have invested in a Panasonic ARC 6 (different model, number in the UK) It is quite evident the Panasonic drive unit is far superior quality to the Braun.
Shout Out to Fort Worth Barber Supply. Love the shirt!!!
Well made video my brother and research to give us more then the box tells us. Lol appreciate you Sir!
Thanks bro!
great and honest review. thank you
How do these compare to professional double foil shavers is the question?
@@chuck1622 they are very gentle, but they don’t cut as close nor do they cut as fast as a professional. If you have very sensitive skin this is a great choice. If you don’t, you can save a lot of money and have better performance by getting something like the Stylecraft Rebel.
Wondering if you have tried to Norelco 9000 Prestige? It's not as close as the these foils, but it's VERY VERY close.
Thanks it was really helpful
Had them both. Braun all day
What did you like more about the Braun?
I had both too. Braun is smooth and comfortable. Panasonic is rough and painful and feels like scratching the skin with something sharp and more noisy as well.
Have you used it to shave your head? I’m trying to decide whether I should drop the cash for the Braun 9 or continue with wet shaving with a razor. Thanks for your time.
My Braun Series 9 Pro's power button just fell off today after two years and 3 months' use...
haha happens, you have a warranty if you want but the buttons falling off never caused any problems. I even fully submerged mine after loosing the buttons and it ran underwater lol
Panasonic makes quality products in so many categories.
If I shave my head bald daily, after how much time I should replace the arc 6 foil head ? 1 year?
If it’s just for you, you could probably use this for a couple of years if you take care of it and make sure you put oil on it
So panasonic cut more close ? I want something to cut close like baby skin and make myself at home (idc time) just to cut very close to skin …please someone who got both of them reply me thanks
Yes, all the reviews say so. If you don't care about possible irritation, get it. If not, get the Braun.
I don't know man, I wear a goatee and it looks like that gigantic head on the Arc 6 would be difficult to navigate while shaving my upper lip.
@@censored7881 yeah for sure grab a stylecraft Uno it’s perfect for that super small and easy
The Arc 6 does come with a stand.
Depends on the model. Mine didn't.
You didn't talk about the warranty
Can you recommend a pre-shave available in Europe, for a Braun Series 9?
Speick, Pitralon or Tabac. You can just try simple few drops jojoba oil.
What is the difference between the Panasonic Arc 6 that"s $399 vs the Panasonic Arc 6 that's $499?
One comes with the stand and cleaning thing

The series 9 should do a pretty good job, but I do think that Panasonic is better, especially for personal use. The head is much bigger.
You really don’t know which of the two is noisier!
As not to wake everyone up in the early morning
For those who shave at that time
Of course I’m talking about the face
ALL foil shavers are loud. What you'd need is a rotary from Philips
Is this good for sensitive bald head
I'm not that convinced. I've got the Series 9 and cut No1 to bald really quickly. The Arc6 looked slower than my S9.
I really do like the Arc6, but I still feel that Braun are still slightly ahead of the rest.
Great review 👍
How many days growth is No. 1? Yup, but isn't the Arc 6 designed for 2-3 days? Whereas the Pro 9 is up to 7? Might not be a fair comparison in that regard. Pro 9 cuts hella fast though, you are right. Maybe someone needs to throw up a 3 day head of hair to bald battle. One side Pro 9 and the other Arc 6 and see which is faster.
About $100 more though :(
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I only like Braun's 9 series. But none of them are Panasonic. Braun also cuts well, but its lifespan is not as long as Panasonic's. I have been using Panasonic for nearly 10 years. I used it continuously, every 2 days, almost like the first day, and I didn't even change the head. Liner system It makes the difference. My father wore out a Braun 5 during this time and now he is using a Braun 9, it is very comfortable, but I don't think it will last 8--10 years. King Panasonic
Are you saying you used a Panasonic for almost 10 years and never changed the blades, head, etc? Near daily use?
@@paulcarlin5181 I wish he would have replied. Be nice if that was true.
I believe the days of anything lasting 10 years are over. I paid near 3 bills for the Pro and I am happy if it lasts me 4-5 years. I saved so much money doing my hair myself. @@rockymntdan1
Panasonic Arc 6 is better. 👍
THAT'S RIGHT!
"I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work." -Thomas A. Edison
I bought both. No real comparison. The Panasonic is by far smother quieter and much better quality. The Panasonic has a cleaning station. Arc six is by far the better of the two. I used a brawn series 7 for years. The 7 was better than the 9.
Cleaning stations are gimmick and only recently make it into the market. It's a company trying to sell you something that isn't needed. If you use it for multiple people then sure get it. If it's just you, just water and soap!
I agree much man but what kind of electric shaver would then be great this time, I did for 16 years with an old Braun electric shaver but hear now that the quality has gone much down. So idk what to get anymore. Only the higher end ones seem g2g but have this stupid clean device that loads also. While I only want to charge it direct @@scottiebumich
I spent the last 6 weeks testing out various electric shavers including the Braun Series 8, 9 Pro, and Arc 6. No doubt the Arc 6 cuts the closest, BUT it missed the under the jaw and neck in the usual places. The Braun would catch those hairs. I don't think I could pay 4 bills for that. I kept the 9 Pro because it did more things right than wrong. There is no such thing as a perfect electric razor. I have come to learn that in these 6 weeks. Personally, I didn't think the gaps between the razors was that big all factors considered. If one wants a Braun and can find the 8 for a really good price, I would go there.@@punisher288

Someone lied to you or you are just doing it to make Brawn look better. Panasonic is so much closer and smoother.
@@robertjohnson2581 You will find mixed reviews and opinions. What works for you does not necessarily work for another.
Plenty of reviews online and video reviews say the same thing. Guess they are all liars? I believe that it's a YMMV thing. The reviews on the Arc 6 say the irritation issues much improved from the Arc5 and most with irritation issues should be fine with the 6.@@robertjohnson2581
I read the same thing on Shavercheck. However, the newer versions of the ARC 6 address the comfort issues, so it is no longer a problem. "The takeaway is that the Panasonic Arc 6 is very comfortable and the vast majority of users will enjoy shaving with it, even the ones with sensitive, irritation-prone skin.
I wouldn’t say it’s quite as comfortable as a Braun Series 9 or 7, but it’s very close." "Even if you have sensitive skin, you’ll be able to get a comfortable shave even when using the Arc 6 dry."
