I was at my Mom's retirement home today.. .. ppl asked me if I liked Elvis.. because Mom has her phone in an Elvis pouch around her neck.. I said... He died 4 years later. I think he knew. He was a Alpha 1 which in those days nobody knew that much about the disease. His mothers parents were first cousins. He inherited all their health problems and died at 42 years later. His mother died at 46 and her three brothers all died in their 40;s All had heart disease, lung problems and Liver disease . He told one of his back up singers he wouldn't live past the early 40's. And of course he had is little daughter Lisa his only child who was only 54 when she died last year. More is known about the disease now. All documented in the book by Sally Hoetel, "Elvis Presley destined to Die Young". thanks guys, I appreciate you.

The original French song is "Comme d'habitude" composed by Jacques Revaux, Gilles Thibaut & Claude François. The English version (My Way), was re-written by Paul Anka for Frank Sinatra. Anka changed the lyrics & subtly altered the melodic structure. The literal translation of "Comme d'habitude" means "as per usual" - the meaning of the song is about something that happens regularly or that isn't surprising & has nothing to do w-Anka's re-written English version. The video of the original French version w-English subtitles is on the internet.
Sinatra’s daughter Nancy said that Sinatra did not like the song to the point of hating it. Sinatra said it was "self-serving" but performed it many times anyway. It’s interesting that Sinatra thought it was self-serving since he was extremely spoiled from early childhood to the point of wanting everything his way throughout his life.
The difference between Sinatra & Elvis is the emotion & passion Elvis put into the song -- as he did w-every song he sang while Sinatra's version is fairly bland in comparison.

Elvis died 4 years later. The melody was from another song and famous singer named Paul Anka wrote different lyrics for this song for Frank Sinatra, about 1968. So, before Elvis gained weight and this video from "Elvis Live" But as a flashback, this is an ultimate irony.

He was in the best position at the time of this song, but he grew up in a family of sharecroppers in what might be considered a southern ghetto by modern terms and later lived in government housing. There is a great documentary to watch about him. Some claim he was 'culturally appropriating' and others just claim that he was learning from those closest to him. I take what the artists around him have to say.
