I went and ordered one a week after seeing these ads, without even a test drive (the dealer only had 1 in the showroom which they didn’t let anyone test drive). Such a fun and capable car! 😎👍
What a great story/experience. I couldn't afford one when they were first released so I just kept watching these commercials over and over again until I have enough money to purchase one.
This commercial is what made me buy my 03' sonic yellow wrx. Loved it. Then traded it in for my 05' STi. Still have the STi... this brings back many memories.
@@EMMANUELIWUOHA. back then having 227 horsepower or for the STi 300 was insane. They are still pretty quick cars but they're not fast in terms of probably what the standard is now almost 20 years later. You have camarys that have 300 horsepower now.. our whole look on power for vehicles is completely changed now with EV and cars coming from the factory with 700 plus horsepower etc. Still a hoot to drive though.
It's funny because Subaru's "symmetrical" all wheel-drive-system is completely mechanical... unlike all the other electronic nanny crap on most "AWD" cars these days...
И SUBARUSTUTUTU.
Bought my WRX in April of 2002. After brake, suspension, engine upgrades and 180,000 hard driven miles the engine finally let go in December 2012. I was saving for a wedding and had just bought a house so car got pushed in garage and there she sat. In 2019 I bought a replacement engine and have bern buying upgraded parts since. I plan on having my WRX back on the road with more than 100 more horsepower by April 2021. This was and still is my do everything dream car. I will never let it go.
I had an 02 RS with 85k on the clock before I traded it in for a WRX. The RS has great raw power but man am I enjoying the WRX. The rims that the WRX is sporting on all three spots are actually Forged BBS rims. One of my favorite rims. One rim runs around $750... I just can't justify that for all 4.
I remember these, I was watching home alone at 8 years old and I watched this, I ask Dad for one for Christmas lol, he still doesn't understand my Subaru love
Summer 2001...I happened upon a red light next to a brand new World Rally Blue WRX, some college punk had mommy and daddy buy it. I was in my old tired Camaro that I bought myself. The light turned Green and I punched it. I took him off the line but he flew past me like I was standing still. I couldn't believe it. I've owned 7 Subarus since then including WRXs and STi's, right now I have a Forester XT and I love that fucking thing haha.
You may even have 227 horses. But if you don’t have the control of Subaru all wheel drive - you can’t touch this. This car was really great for the times honestly
I remember when this commercial came out. I was really excited for it coming in the US finally. There are better cars out now, but not many have the character. I finally bought my 02 in 05 and still loving it.
that's awesome to here. I had an 02 RS and traded it in for an 08 WRX. Yeah the 09 probably is better, but you can't want what you have seen/driven in ;)
yezzir, i actually had all of these things done at about 100k, since these things just slipped my mind because of a pretty hectic schedule i keep. i also had the bushings changed because of a crack on the front control arm bushings. but other than that, solid as a rock.
but its still running strong? mine is bogging down at like 4 to 5 k i need a m/a sensor and a valve cover gasket it kinda sux but ima go pick them up later on today
@flipwiggins World Rally Cross. The X is just a fancy symbol for "Cross." Just like when you see "No X'ing" signs on a intersection or "XX'ing" at a railroad crossing track.
The Boost gauge wasn't standard but was available as an optional accessory. Most wrx owners preferred a 3rd party gauge due to the fact that Subaru's gauge measured boost in MPa instead of PSi.
I don't really care for the STI, this is the car I wanted when I was 14 or so, but in the end I bought a lancer AWC instead but it just looks more sick

I love my WRX. My friends and family are always mind blown how it handles turns. The AWD is just sick.
Show them how your WRX can go up an extremely steep off-road hill
I remember this commercial when I was young, this is my dream sports car.
This commercial is what made me buy my 03' sonic yellow wrx. Loved it. Then traded it in for my 05' STi. Still have the STi... this brings back many memories.
Is the wrx sti a fast car?

I still have my bugeye 20 years this NYE
I got my dads old bugeye i bought it back kept it tasteful Its so fun I can still keep up with modern cars
I remember this commercial ;) I was like 11 and remember telling my dad to sell his nova for one.....
Same age I was telling my dad to sell his car for one too. Nostalgia...
Why not both? One for drag and one for off-road journey.
Damn your dad has a nova?? Sweet
Epix
I'm 11 and still a Subie fan, instead I would still buy a Subaru if I have a license
I love how they cut to the 2-door STi sliding through the mud.
02 Bugeye owner,234,000 miles- Never has let me down, LOVE IT!
03 wrx wagon WRB still killin it
actually stock still 235k miles and only a few minor parts replaced about to go in for full maintenance again.
#1 was my all time favourite Subaru commercial. Still gets the adrenaline going!
*sigh* you wont regret it. ive loved mine since the day i got it in 2001. 105,000 miles and still going strong.
Still got it?
Thanks for checking them out. I've had them on my computer since the day I saw them on TV and later made Quicktime videos out of them

Look at that amazing precision of That conering 💯💯
Back in 2003, I wished... In 2008, my wish came true :)

I did a quick search and apparently Subaru marketing team says:
"The X in WRX is what ever you want it to be."
I'm ok with that.
"Extreme"
world rally cross
cross= X
World Rally eXperimental
I fucking love Subaru
They weren’t lying ab the awd system bruh it’s great
but its still running strong? mine is bogging down at like 4 to 5 k i need a m/a sensor and a valve cover gasket it kinda sux but ima go pick them up later on today

I do all the commercials
I think you can hear the 5 speed grind in the commercial 😂
That's awesome to hear. Keep on ripping
So glad I have this car in the condition its in

I’ll take that wagon and raise it 11 years later. 2002 WRX wagon (if you’ve got an auto it ain’t a WRX) all stock with 73k original miles!
Love it
YES!!!
I love it!
The new or this particular generation shown?? Either way your lucky.
Better looking and sounding then the garbage we get these days sadly.
I actually like the wagon version of this
Same here, the bugeye wrx wagon is my dream car.
(Wagon=more car, more car=more fun)

I own an 02 wrx an i love it best car i ever had
Best car I ever owned most fun as well
こんなん見たら、また丸目乗りたくなっちゃうじゃないですかー!!
Did some wrx come equipped with a boost gauge?

I want this car...I'm stuck w an integ for at least another year... :-(. Someday....
I wish I had one.....*sigh* one day....
Got a 2016 Crosstrek with a manual transmission, its not 227hp lol its only 150hp, but still the car handles amazing.
That's awesome. Keep it up
2020 anyone
Yup. Still here :)
0:15 is the best part :D
Hey thats my car
Man i remember when Subaru was much simpler from a much simpler time when you used to have tegerdy
Bugeye STI.. the best for me.
I WANT IT!! I WANT IT!! I WANT IT!!
I don't really care for the STI, this is the car I wanted when I was 14 or so, but in the end I bought a lancer AWC instead but it just looks more sick
I miss the days of Subaru actually giving a shit about enthusiasts...now it's neutered naturally aspirated family cars...oh how far they've fallen.
that's pretty much the entire market. the public in general has less of an interest in driving and cars in general.
I thought it was World Rally Experimental
2024
Anyone else get that Need for speed underground 2 Vibe
Sweet. What's your secret?
My dad has a 1993
I remember this ad right before the Iraq war broke out ah sweet childhood
