Yeah... my friends and I almost never get beyond 4 shot rallies but on the odd occasion, almost accidental, we hit a 20 shot marathon and we collapse in mutual admiration almost forgetting who actually won the point.
It's been fascinating reading all the responses below 😊 As we say, the results were based on a public vote on our website. But there are so many great rallies being mentioned, so we're thinking of making a 'Commenter Edition/Honourable Mentions' video, to make sure they get the airtime they deserve too! Comment below with your nominations (Men and Women) or 'like' someone else's comment if it's already been said 👍
Got to be the last one. It's like watching a normal rally replayed at twice the speed. Also love the way that Willstrop has the nerve to finish his epic rally with a triple fake.
Ashour vs shorbagy at 10-9, if you just walked in at that moment and watched the movement speed and hard hitting, you would think this is something extremely special, superhuman and alien. The Egyptian ultra aggressive style of play is really something to behold. It makes squash so watchable, especially after decades of relatively conventional Aussie, English and Pakistani plays which looked so boring in comparison. Sorry but that’s the truth.
I'm an Egyptian B player but won my local city league and reached every B final I'm played in here in Canada with the ultra aggressive drops from everywhere that even A players struggled against. You just need to be fit enough to reach the counter punch if they do get to it as they eventually anticipate your drops. If I worked on my long drives along the wall, I'd be an A player.
Apart from the fact that the rally between ramy and shorbagy at 2012 Qatar was way ahead of their time, the longest rally between shorbagy and makin has to to be the rally of the decade. That inhuman evil rally, is too awesome to be the rally of the decade.
Agree, I would have picked the 2012 rally going into this, but after watching them all; the Shorbagy-Making rally definitely deserves to be up there. It's also impressive how Shorbagy can play such different styles at the highest levels.
I miss playing squash to o☝️😷 but strangely I feel fitter than when I was playing three WTF sessions a week training full on with coach and Sqaush god Malcolm Pickup. What I have realized is I need to get fitter to play better sqaush ... I realized this doing 5 to 10 miles in the isolated hills of West Yorkshire walking and running...can’t wait to get on court 👍🧘♂️📈🏃♂️🏃♂️🏃♂️🏃♂️🏃♂️ faster leaner stronger focused ...I can wish 🙏🏼
@@Limbiclesion Same here ...can't wait for the club to open again. In the mean time, I am doing a daily Shabana-style exercise against a wall in the attic; from a distance of approx. 2 meters it's a straight FH then one cross-court, one straight BH and and one crosss-court. Sounds easy but isn't. When I come out of this CV19 mess, I plan to have better balll control than before
Best rally I ever saw was Peter N. v Simon P. , Toc 90's, early round, game 1- score maybe 5-all to 15. Standing ovation. The fact that it was Game 1 of an early round, nowhere near game ball, just made it all the more impressive. And of course, it ended in a let- despite both players playing through and clearing. Made no difference...
I tried hard to pick a favourite, and whittled it away to the the two Elshorbagy-Ashour rallies, but I could go no further. Those two take the cake for me, just by sheer overall quality. Castagnet and Coll's dive rallies are great because of the entertainment factor, but they are just not on the same level.
Sigh. I just remember back in the day I used to loveee squash. I was a d1 athlete at trinity playing squash with the boys and I loved it! Recommend for everyone to try out!
Remember when I used to thrash my mates at squash and think I was pretty close to the best. (Age 29) Then I played a 52yr old and I’ve never been run ragged round a court like he did to me. He never moved. Squash is a sport that goes like this > brain > fitness > more brain > if you have number 1 you win. I love losing when I deserve it.
I started playing squash a few weeks ago. I've been playing a ton of tennis over the past three years. Thing that impresses me watching these rallies is that these players are so athletic and flexible to never be out of a rally. They can cover the entire court. Not me! Love squash being a "4D sport." every dimension must be used well to win a point.
No one was ever going to agree on the top 10... It's harsh on Farag I'd say whose battles with El Shorbagy are my pick for, maybe not as spectacular as these, but the highest quality squash rallies ever played. But anyway some beauties in here! Thank you!
For sure! That's why we put it to a poll rather than assert our own opinions, but it's 100% natural that some will disagree or think something has missed out. I think the problem with Ali rallies is that he makes it look too easy 😂 Is there a particular one you had in mind?
Hard to remember... Maybe one of the ones from Qatar 2017 (ua-cam.com/video/bOL_M3nw6a4/v-deo.html), like 5:57, 16:44 or 23:52? Or even the recent rallies from this year's Canary Wharf (ua-cam.com/video/JUYxpQgEOBA/v-deo.html) - 7:11? Mostly short rallies but only because both players were pounding the nick at will. It's an unrecognizable game from 10 or even 5 years ago.
Ramy was the best player of all time. I only wish I had watch him play live. I lived in NY for 9 years and could watch Powell, Nicol, and even a young Shabana, but alas, no Ashour.
@psasquashtv There was a rally at Tournament of Champions years ago with David Palmer and Ollie Touminen. It was super contentious, and Palmer lost. There was a point where Ollie had Palmer on the ropes and hit a drive way past Palmer, where Palmer then turned around, launched himself in the air and flying waist height hit it off the back wall to the front. To my memory it was the dive of dives. Inside last 10 years?
A quick google suggests that match might have been in 2007? So pre-SquashTV and not one we currently have the archive footage from... but I'll investigate!
Great Video PSA . i asked myself . How many times was the Rally "dead or revived " in each match. Game1.one Game2.one. Game3three. Game4.three. Game5.three. Game6.six. Game7.six plus a beaut finish. Game8.four. Game9.one. Game10.two All Brilliant Matches . Rally of the Decade. you can see it.
Love the vid but MARCHE vs HESHAM?!!! When Marche diving back-wall boasted?!! Also pretty sure one of you boys called it the best rally you'd ever seen at the time!
The thing I love about watching and playing this sport is at the end of a good rally the opponent is happy even if he loses. Most of the time.
Clearly. I'd rather lose but have some great rallies than winning a boring game. Rallies are incredible
Yeah... my friends and I almost never get beyond 4 shot rallies but on the odd occasion, almost accidental, we hit a 20 shot marathon and we collapse in mutual admiration almost forgetting who actually won the point.
only REASON PERSON DIVING WON RALLY BECAUSE OPPONENT HIT WALL.THINK ABOUT IT, STRAIGHT, NOT HITTING WALL, WONT GET IT....

I’m under 13
the most epic one-sided judgment. This match will win in that category.

Commentator: He hasnt even dived yet joey.
Paul Coll: immediately dives twice

Ever?
Yep... best ever
Nah nick is the best

Thank you PSA for this special treat. Awesome!
Ashour's retirement was the saddest day in squash this century. Just love this sport!

Half of the rallies had Ramy, that’s 🐐 stuff right there🔥🔥
And ElShorbagy - although l am an Ashour fan also.
GOAT !
The first is the rallie of the century. Miss you so much Ramy. :-(
Wish UA-cam was around when I was running around the court like a fool 25 years ago

Thanks PSA TV for the great contents. It must be noted that Thierry Lincou and David Palmer were still playing on the tour 10 years ago...

Man I miss Ramy Ashour so much. Can you imagine how good he’d have been without his injuries? He made squash so exciting.
Was at Finchley squash club and this random guy just brings him in to say hello
Just awesome rallies all of them. Having to choose one would be as painful as having to choose a favorite child.
Love the rallies. Thanks PSA.

Jahangir Khan ....555 games unbeaten.

Willstrop v. Gawad, Rally of the Decade. Disco lights.

do they play with double dot yellow ball? It seems to bounce much more than when me and my friends play...
