1/2 cup water
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1/2 tsp salt
2nd Dough:
1 1/2 cup all purpose flour
1/2 cup white sugar
1/2 cup shortening or lard
Filling:
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1 medium size onion
1 1/2 cup white sugar

Parehas lng din ito ng ibang hopia, sa palaman lng nagkaiba. Masyado kasing strong ang bread flour para gamitin sa hopia kaya i suggest na all purpose flour ang gamitin mo kabayan. God bless

Dahil na rin sa lard and ung palaman nya na onion parang medyo lasa syang may baboy kabayan.
Originally, the Chinese recipe used pork lard rendered from pork fat which you can do yourself at home; now commercial vegetable shortening and lard are available in grocery stores. Others use oil for the convenience and instead of the original ingredient of green onions, onion bulb is being used and kundol candy was eliminated.

As explained above, original Chinese recipe used solid pork fat (lard) from fried taba or langis ng baboy, cooled till white solid for use in baking...this can be done at home. Now recipes use vegetable shortening or pork lard from grocery stores.

Kung wala po kyong lard puede gumawa ng mantika ng baboy salain nyo lng mantika. Saka talagang pong sibuyas lng ang sangkap ng hopiang baboy kahit mag ask po kyo sa lahat ng bakery

Hello po kabayan, talaga pong wala syang halong baboy pero kapag kinain nyo po sya para po kayong may malalasahan na baboy. Dahil sa pinaghalong sibuyas at may lard or shortening sa dough naglalasa syang konting baboy.
Buy taba ng baboy, fry without oil para lumabas lahat ang manteca till the taba is crispy. Collect the pork oil and cool down to turn to white solid pork lard....this is how the Original Chinese recipe is done; they used chopped green onions instead of onion bulb and chopped kundol candy.
Grocery Stores sell them ....Baking Section Aisle as Shortening and Lard.
