The grille is pretty bad and the car is too high it looks more like an SUV than a 7 series. The previous pre-facelift G12 looks so much nicer. And the interior design is a step backwards. It has nice materials but besides that the design isn't any better than an iX interior. And because the 760 lost the V12 it should have at least offered 700 horsepower from the V8 hybrid. I can't see this new 7 as anything else but a step backwards.
Amazing review as always! My question with this amazing car is when that rear entertainment screen is down, is there a rear view camera for the driver to use...sorry I might have missed that during your show. How about when the rear shade is up? Keep up the amazing work! Cheers! M
How often are you using your rear vision mirror or looking out the back window of a modern car? I feel like I could easily get by with side mirrors and a back up camera
@@DavidRamseyIII Hey Jacob, I look through my rear facing mirror very often. I live in a crowded area where tailgating happens while driving in the city often (even on the highway sadly enough) and rear-end collisions happen quite a bit thanks to this reality. I am glad that you get by using the side mirrors but they are usually used for side traffic. Cheers.
The front end looks like a caricature of some weird anime chipmunk smiling 🤣 Imagine your horror when Junior launches one of his Hot Wheels cars at that TV screen and the service department tells you it's $14,000 to replace...
Design-wise, I'm *firmly* in Camp Hate It with regards to the exterior. The lights on both ends are way too small, and the grille is too large. Which is really a shame, because the interior is *stunning.* It could use a few more dashboard trim choices, but that's about all I can think of there. BMW's exterior designers have lost their minds.
Astonishingly, even this iteration of the 7 series still has the "Hofmeister Kink". You look like a boss in the reclining rearseat, must be comfortable 😁
.....and that kink is the only thing that isn't monstrously hideous in this design. It looks like a locomotive or a semi truck in front and, in back, it looks like a few different cars were stacked up on top of each other. Just ummm, wow...
They said that about the E60 5-series, E90 3-series, etc. I have one of each at 15 years old and 111k and 170k miles each. They’re fine. New cars generally get more reliable with time.
Facts…All luxury cars are like that except Lexus because they try to be more mechanical hence their avoidance of turbochargers. All those cars are great (Except Range Rovers) in the first (3) years. After that…it’s going to be problems.
This was a very well produced video, the best of the other UA-cam I’ve seen. Please ask bmw if they plan to offer xDrive on the 740 for the peasants. Seems unimaginable they would not eventually.
That price is *absurd* . At least with the prior M760i you were getting a V12 that was truly special, or for *less* money you could've had the Alpina B7. This feels like all they did was chase Mercedes up the price ladder. The tech is interesting in theory, but it didn't work well in practice, and that's the maintained press car. What chance do regular owners have of getting things to work right?
I’m not sure why all of these companies have press cars that aren’t already on an active data account so you could just see how it would work if it were your account. 🤷🏻
Its a flex piece, meant to perform against peers, but I have to wonder what owner would be driven in this car long long enough to make full use of that screen, or have to sit long enough in it too. The console controls as well are a bit too obscured by the crystal dash piece. In some lights the buttons disappear on camera. I find the looks serviceable and the interior mostly good, that touch screen door control is very nice, more pleasant in the back seat than the front office. Overall, I find myself thinking, if I was a buyer, to want a more simple approach to a luxury car, like a G90
I'm in the hate it camp. It's hideous. The front and rear fascias are TERRIBLE. The area below the rear bumper in particular looks awful. The way that screen sits above the dash -- it just looks cheap. $12,000 for that ugly two-tone paint? ROFLMAO.
I know I shouldn't, but I'm starting to like the new 7 series, especially in that two-tone paint work! This car is a tech tour de force, but still a great driving luxury car.
I recently bought a top-trim G90 after side-by-side comparisons to the German lux sedans. The Genesis comfort and driving is at least equal to the others, and the design is far more graceful and less shouty. The materials, drive-line, paint, assembly, and switch-gear quality are noticeably better (no cost-cutting capacitance buttons here). I am constantly told by others about how beautiful it is. Nobody said that about my ugly BMWs.
I like this car but..... i would Love this car IF ..... it looked like a BMW in the front. And im not a fan of the front bumper having gloss black, it should have a 2023 X6 look in the front.
I mean it would help if you took the time to read owners Manual to learn how things Work and operate .... Than complain about stuff you don't know how they work.. ;-(
You shouldn't need to "read a manual" to access back operational functions. If you do, it means poor car design. Are you going to issue manuals to family/friends that may borrow your car? All you basic controls should be intuitive.
I'm convinced that buying cars that look like this sends the wrong message to BMW, as well as Mercedes, for that matter, that people actually like the way their cars look. No. We do not.
If you're a boss who can afford this car, then you're probably over 6ft tall.☝️ If you're over 6ft tall, and getting chauffeured, you'll need a SUV limo, like an Escalade.😉👌 If you're a boss and over 6ft tall and buying an expensive limo priced like this BMW, you'll need a better looking car. 🙂👍
The design is boss for a flagship. However, all those screens will be obsolete at best if not broken way sooner than 10 years -already malfunctioning lol. A bit too much fuss and press this, fold that, scroll to that, for the luxury consumer. Don't even mention frequent facelifts and all-new's. Rather pay more for a Flying Spur or Ghost for way more value for money.
You are absolutely correct.... instead of paying 160 grand for this I would rather take a lightly used flying spur which is a better all round vehicle with much more prestige
Mercedes looks like a much better deal these days. Oh and the design choices of bmw these days are questionable at best. Get ready to spend many days of your life at bmw dealership fixing things. I will pass. Thanks.
Good design looks better over time....all were up in arms - BMW´s new design language is growing on me. If I would be this BMW-RR, looks like the Rolls to me already, I would go for the i7, not the 760i anymore. Ok staying with the english theme - not my cup of tea. But as a review - this one is way more interesting! :) - to my wishlist? Don't know yet, but always less weight please.
The reviewers don't buy one; they don't experience the $3K in depreciation a month, the poor service, the most vulnerable trade-in value for a four-year-old 7 Series, the worst of about any luxury car except a Maserati. BMW makes some great performance cars, but high-end luxury is not their expertise; I knew the service manager so well; having two of them, we about had him over for Thanksgiving. Go on Auto-Trader and look at 3-5-year-old 7-Series, pennies on the dollar. Suitable for business leases, which most are bought far, but one of the worst cars you can buy to enjoy, they can't make it to five years of solid service, and nobody wants them after.

Great question
How do I put this? The new 7 series has a face only a mother could love.
Bmw really need to own that grill. Merging it into the blackened front fascia is just a cop out. Would look much better chromed out.

The really quick one will the Alpina B7

but first,
the screen blocking hind-sight is a legal issue, and
look at that clumsy Black frame of the screen?!
Jaded
I love the two tone

You also reviewed the S-class, how does it compare to it?

I don't know why BMW use those same old rims. It makes a car look outdated, but with a facelift.
I actually like the front of this 7 series, especially in the two tone or all black. Just the back doesn’t look as imposing as the front.
the bangle 7 design organic
howdy! Colors have been off last few videos.

Beyond hideous. Genesis should not be out-designing BMW.
