Those tyranids are particularly striking. As someone who’ll likely never do a 40k army, respect for this project!

I enjoy the whole sisters range, but yes Junith is deeply characterful.

It’s definitely been a tough lesson to learn about the army painting skill set and how I need to develop it. I’m glad for the social pressure created by the timeline as I suspect I would’ve flaked out already. It is what it is wrt first batch, second batch I feel confident of achieving though!

While your Adepta Sororitas look quite well done, the Hive Fleet looks very, very striking.

17:10 Gluing minis on to bases is a bit of a movable feast for me. For a swamp or grassland style base I'd glue the mini on because I want the impression of the mini standing in the environment. For an Urban, Blackstone Fortress or similar base I'd paint the mini then glue it to the base as I want the impression of the mini on the surface.
See, I nearly always glue the minis on the bases because for me it makes the mini much easier to paint. If I want to paint the bases separately because they are going to be complex, I attach the mini lightly to a spare base with superglue for painting. the only time I struggle and have to paint the mini without a base something like seraphim who can only be based at the very end to avoid marking the acrylic flight stand.
Worth saying that the rationale behind not gluing the models to the bases is cause it made it easier to access parts of the models (e.g. cloaks). Having done the models before, I knew that was a specific challenge so doing it this way made things easier to reach.
The Bladeguard Ancient has been cancelled in favour of a Dreadnought. Exact dreadnought still TBD

Be interesting to see what kind of stand alone army you can actually make out of imperial agents for sure.
I remember the tale of four gamers. Such a great concept. Did they ever re-run with the same support as that got? I expect in the 20 ish years there has been at least one re-attempt by GW but that had so much character.
Tale of four gamers is a concept they have revisited over and over and over again in the pages of White Dwarf for different game systems, yeah. But I don't know if White Dwarf in general has the same power to inspire the community.

Challenges like that don't seem to quite work for me. My painting and building is mostly motivated by a chance to play a game with new models so unless things happen to align nicely I am usually busy with something else and then can't join the challenge.
Nightfalls nids are excellent for sure. I do understand this sort of thing does not work for everyone, and that's ok.

In all seriousness I have my own version of this in my comittment to my wife that I'll get more stuff painted every month than I buy. It's very motivating. 😉
Right now we are doing it for 40k, there is some discussion that possibly after 1000 points we will change to another system, possibly AoS, 30k or ToW. Or we might stick with 40k. I think its more fun if everyone is building a force for the same game.

I like the Tyranids, but the photography is really good which helps the presentation. Not a fan of the hobby challenge concept. Painting is my decompressing activity so I don’t feature adding deadlines.
They are very well painted and photography wise, for sure the black background helps the colors pop. Hobby challenges are not for everyone, I understand.
