What Is The BRUTAL Series?
The BRUTAL series is a series of videos I do inside of the game Transport Fever 2. It's designed to be an extremely hard version of the game, that has to stick to real life as much as physically possible. We do 1 year each episode, which may sound slow, but my much more fast paced editing compared to other transport fever youtubers means that only the bits YOU want to actually watch are included, any umming and arring is always cut out and it's just the content you came to watch. Transport Fever 2:

You had trucks that were THERE, returning empty.
And you created a new line from where the already were to where they already went.
oh sweet jesus that was brutal.
Why don't you use the same vehicles in line 2 & line 3? The line 2 could bring oil to the refinery and when coming back bring fuel to the city. You could then save some vehicles number and gain more.
Issue is, that fuel ref requires 2x the crude, and petroleum requires 2x the ref. So you'd actually be loosing a little bit there. Nice idea tho! Thanks for watching hope you enjoyed!
@@Hushey True, but you will actually win, not lose. Trucks already are going back empty from petroleum through the town. They can simply drop off 1/2 load of petroleum on the way. Then line 3 is not needed at all and everything is way more efficient.
Youd think thats the case but because were working with different numbers supply would be an issue and trucks would be waiting around in places.
If your using carts to move oil to refinery instead of dead heading could you just move fuel into city and then grab crude to minimize dead time of movement
@@Hushey you could just tell them to pickup whatever is available.
The "slowdown" caused by dropping off fuel from a route that literally already passes there is massively compensated by the fact they're actually transporting something, not just going back to pickup more oil.
The intersection you point out at 13:00 made my OCD spike. By switching the platform order, there would be no crossing!

Honestly, just found this channel, and as an initial impression based on this such video, I like what I’m seeing, pitting yourself into a challenge and knowing what your doing, as well as being abit informative (in such of explaining here and there about brutal mode), glad I found this channel! Though this video is 2 months old atleast, just means I have a series to watch now again, youtube analytics be praised.. for once on recommending a small yet very intriguing channel!

Streetvehicles do not lose much speed through slopes. Only trains have huge problems with this. In building streets its the best way to build streets as cheap and short as possible and ignore the terrain.
With trains the terrain is more important than the costs. You built this streets like you should build tracks.
Also in your situation (i am playing brutal without many mods) i would build a trainroute between the raffinery and the fuelfactory. The train can drive full between them and can earn money in both ways. So, if the track is flat, you can even in 1850 make money with a train. And so all other aspects like carriges or trains for crude or so does not count.
I know trucks can use the same benefit. But in my experiance trucks are less efficient in such situations because they will not gain money. You must calculate the costs of a vehicle not only through the maintaince. You have also the wear. So you should calculate: (cost-selling price)/time of use (for me: a cheaper, better vehicle is available)+maintance = real costs.
And with this calculation and the bigger production over the time, you can not earn money until (the Baldwin56, prussia G3, ka for asia). Carriages and all other vehicles in 1850 will never earn money. You will allways lose it. So all you do till you get the better vehicles is to make the cities grow a bit and save money, so you have enough money left in ~1871/75 to build better trains.
The problem with carriages if you use them longer is, that they will not make enough money over time to give you enough money for trains or other stuff. Trucks in my opinion are only usefull for very short distances and to supply the cities. Because of limited speed and Loading quenes and also the traffic jam risk its better to use as much trains as possible.
And you can never set the price. The price is allways the same. The difference is the money you can make for transportation. You do never own the factories or the products, so the prices are not interessting for you or the game. The price you get is calculated between the amount of goods and the distance (not track, the direct way... in germany we say "luftlinie" in english airline. google says as the crow flies. I mean the distance through the air between two points.
Hi thanks for your comment nord! As this is brutal difficulty the difficultly is dramatically increased for every aspect of the game. This includes vehicle accleration and stopping distance which means they really struggle up hills with little horsepower.

When it comes to hard mods.
I haven been hoping someone would make a cachement area mod.
So, that bigger cities have to have inner-city busses or trucks to distribute stuff to/from the train stations.

you could've done a single rail ring-railroad around the island, serving each of the industries, with space for the wood instudstry in future. That would've allowed for pretty direct train routes between each industry

Watched a few of these vids and all players make the same mistake - start building a road from A to B then run straight into a hill, then waste money carving it out and then going around. A quick check on elevation would have saved you thousands and then you would have gone around the hill to....
Error number 2; was wasting thousands of dollars in the first 3 mins by not connecting your dirt road to the town road and using the zig zag to get to the refinery quicker (only temporary) you can easily change the route later as town expands. Basically 1/3 of your road was already built - in tar seal. Yes I understand emissions but it would be inconsequential compared to saving $300,000.

Great video. If you are down for a good challenge. Have you considered making the Cajon Pass from Los Angeles to San Bernardino in Transport Fever 2 in Brutal Mode? That would be a great challenge for anyone.

I'm always down for a challenge but hardware is the issue at the min, I've been doing my next ep of brutal for going on 4 days now cus everything is just taking so long eg rendering. Ram is screwed. I think you could combine both oil wells into 1 single truck stop, saves you a lot of road
Also a truck stop would be cheaper in maintenance than a full station

You could save A LOT of money if you simply build depot near the first pickup spot. And in order to develop the industry you must entertain the whole supply chain. No point collecting all those crude without a customer for the refined oil. You’ll only make real money and supply chain can uplevel only when you supply the demand of the cities instead of simply transporting stuffs for no apparent objective.
True, but private companies will pay a smaller amount if you give them input without output so its still worth doing. Hope you enjoyed Zuhri!

@@PompaDaddy hi, i did this because the quality wasnt good enough. Episodes 2 through 18 have been heavily cut down as well for better digestabilty (earlier stuff is way more cut down than later stuff)

Hi MR Beci, thanks for your comment. That ones been recommended before, and its a great idea but not efficient im affraid as more vehicles are required raw-refined than what is ref-cooked and cooked-town. Nice idea though!
@@Hushey Still would make sense as you are limited on horses and the way back could be the same as the way to the factory meaning no additional distance for the carriages

No public mod unfortunately. Its the combined power of editing the game files and video editing. It'd be nice tho. Sorry about that, i see how it is a bit misleading.
Is your map available for the public, because every time i enable it, it never shows up in the game.

Hi diggi, there is no such thing - this is meant literally as in i have added a story element to the game through my own creation. I occasionally use some mods to assist with this which all can be found in the description. Hope this helps and hope you enjoy the series.
Why do you make all your lines black? Makes it harder to see the difference between them
Because they're all fuel related, and later on I want to see where all the different *goods* go, not just which line as that can get confusing. It's especially useful for hubbing most stuff. We'll get to it! Thanks for watching
