Liam Gallagher & John Squire Responded To My Video!

  • On the 20th Jan 2024 I uploaded a video discussing the possibility that Liam & Squire's song 'Just Another Rainbow' was actually written about former Stone Roses front man, Ian Brown (watch here: • Did JOHN SQUIRE Write ... ). In an obscure interview in another language in March... Liam & Squire actually responded to that theory!
Check out my review of their debut album here: • LIAM / SQUIRE: The Deb...

I think you're reading too much into Liam's "Lucifer" comment. All he's saying is that since the 60s people have played records backwards and think they can hear all sorts of occult and other esoteric things.

I've heard a lot of people shit on the songs (mainly lyrics and over indulgence of John's solos), but I don't think the lyrics were that bad and John's playing was magic! Btw, “I’m a Wheel” is one of the finest British blues songs so nice John Mayall and His Bluesbreakers’ _Beano_ LP w/Eric Clapton and other greats of the 1960s - speaking strictly in terms of British blues.
But in regards to anyone saying “get out of the house more” to you, I say a big F U to them! (except for Liam and John - I am positive they appreciate you and your channel. You’re keeping their names out there - let’s face it, you’re promoting them.)
My fiancée and I love your channel. You’re so awesome. A guy I could have a pint or 5 with and talk music forever with.

It’s what I love about your channel and one of the reasons why I find you such a joy and interesting guy to watch.

Ian Brown’s solo career has eclipsed what John Squire did after The Roses, including this album. He also wrote practically everything himself.
Also, John Squire was just as up for the reunion as everyone else, it was actually Brown that needed the most persuading, and there were no issues about it being ‘the Ian Brown show’ as you put it 👍

There was a big noise in the US in the 80s about British heavy metal acts like Iron Maiden, Ozzy Osbourne and Judas Priest having hidden messages in songs, especially after two kids committed suicide after supposedly listening to messages in Judas Priest songs and the band eventually had to clear their name in court. That's possibly what Liam might have been referencing.

I’m not blown away by it, but on each play I like it more and more. Just Another Rainbow grabbed me instantly when I heard it. Basically it’s a step in the right direction for both of them and Liam is smashing it right now IMO and although I’ve never been a follower of John Squire’s music, he’s a bloody good guitarist and this album oozes 60s rock/90s indie.
These are exciting times right now for those of us who were there in the 90s with Oasis. I think Noel’s last album was a winner and apparently he’s ditching the acoustic album next and going for rock again. Happy times!

The "Zip It Penfold" comment made me laugh because there's a bit of a Roses link. Back in the late 90's there was a guy on Roses internet message groups called Burnweed who wrote chapters of stuff about there being a conspiracy that the Roses wrote the Morning Glory album. There was loads of other stuff but he genuinely seemed to believe the Roses were sending out messages for him to pick up. There was a Select Magazine cover in December1995 that had the Roses on and there was a speech bubble above Mani's head which said "Zip it Weedbrain!" which this Burnweed guy interpreted as a message to him to stop spreading the stories. If you manage to find it on the internet it was called OneLoveStory and it's written like Bible passages. Really mad stuff but he had theories for loads of Oasis and Roses events. :D

Fair comment. Ian Brown’s solo discography stands up well in most company, in my opinion. He’s a good collaborator and doesn’t try to dominate the whole thing. Loads of creative influences are apparent from those he worked with in each solo album.
John meanwhile seemed to have fallen out of love with the music scene and was deeply into his painting, which has been a constant for him forever.

Ian Brown had a much wider musical palette. That’s what started the gradual break up of the Roses in the early 90’s.
His solo career, especially ‘98 - ‘05, was a great achievement, he’d been written off and not expected to be seen again in music, and came back with several albums containing very original, quality innovative music.
It eclipsed The Seahorses, which were ultimately not even as good as lesser mid 90’s bands like Shed Seven, Cast etc.

There would be no Liam without Ian, no Oasis without the Roses etc.
Well maybe there would be watered down versions, but nothing like what we know and love.
I think Liam just heard what we all heard, a decent catchy tune…
I had tears in my eyes when I first heard it, I have never had that kind of reaction to anything, and while I appreciate a deep dive as much as the next, I feel like chatting broken biscuits about conspiracy theories, (even if they are true) pollutes it some how.

They're both right to be fair, you definitely need to get out more. Liam means there are sados out there that cant enjoy the music for what it is rather trying to find hidden meanings that arent there

    • @michaeltownsend429
      @michaeltownsend429 Місяць тому

Diversity mate… neurodiversity… we are all neurodiverse, part of that diversity, and the ‘sados’ that see things, hear things, think things, learn things and communicate things differently, they’re just atypical - not sad. They also _enjoy_ things differently. This diversity makes us stronger because not everyone is looking in the same direction, missing things happening behind or off to the side.
If we all had the same perception, us dolphins would never have become monkeys.
There are hidden meanings in many places. Maybe even in your comment?

I just thought just another average as fuck song, album it’s not a great album,at best it’s good and I thought when I heard that this album was coming out.
I was buzzing I thought The Seahorses it’s coming around again.
As soon as I heard the start of Just another rainbow I instantly knew what we were in for and in that respect they didn’t disappoint, there’s no need for another album surely 😢

Are Squire and Brown even on bad terms now? The Roses might be over but the final gig ended with them hugging, there didn’t seem to be any animosity.

    • @lucasm3879
      @lucasm3879 2 місяці тому

If you read an interview Squire did in 2019 about his art, and one about a month ago, both with The Guardian and both free to read online, it seems they’re not on great terms.
He doesn’t definitively say, but he basically hints it heavily, and says only Mani was invited to his exhibition I think.
Apparently they all made a pact not to badmouth each other again in the press. Similar thing with The Verve, they never say anything bad about each other but they don’t speak anymore.

I think the album is amazing. Sounds of The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, Stone Roses and Oasis. Liam has been challenged and rose to the challenge and they nailed it live. Leeds was a fantastic gig. I really hope the second album happens soon not left for years and they do more tours. Liam Gallagher and John Squire have saved my faith in new music (let’s face it. Most new music is pretty crap).

Tbh I don’t think Jon squires is talented enough to write secret anagrams or hidden messages in his songs. Ian brown on the other half. Most definitely.

    • @GT380man

Absolutely agreed. Mr Brown is deeper than many realise.
Some still say “He’s a thug, he went to jail for threatening that airline stewardess”.
Utter nonsense and a miscarriage, that was. The establishment giving him a slap for who knows what.

    Your theory remains convincing.
John may not be ready to affirm it while the album is in the spotlight. Songwriters enjoy some level of mystique that allows them to write personal material (including digs at other public figures).

At the end of the day, LG, Tim Burgess, Richard Ashcroft, Rick Witter and the list goes on were all taking cues from Ian Brown.
When he started in the mid 80’s he acted like Morrisey though!
