    All of this advice is 100% SPOT ON. I come up with so many great ideas on guitar when I have a quick strum before heading off to work in the morning. Contrary to what I believed in my younger days, morning is the best. Thanks for the great video!

    The Sodajerker podcast is what got me into trying to write my own songs. I stumbled across it while looking up Adam Duritz on the podcast app and there he was talking about his craft. I have also revisited many episodes, including the one you just spoke about with Noel, as well as the one with Neil Finn and many others. Forever grateful to Simon and Brian for the content they have provided us with and I listen to at least one episode a week. And, I have to say, your channel here is way up there for me too. Amazing content and knowledge you're passing on. Thanks so much, it's been a great help!

    Spot on
    Billy Corgan said he wrote Mellon collie whilst watching morning tv, and still writes every morning.
    Morissey has said he writes all his lyrics whilst walking
    Tori Amos has said it’s all about creating so much that it just becomes probability..
    But you have to just keep creating and not get caught up on eventual duds.. just make it all. Then edit.
    I have my best ideas or solve lyric problems whilst cycling to and from work…

    Great video. Thanks for this. Noel is gifted as a songwriter and in verbalising his thoughts so clearly. His comments - and your video and comments - sum up songwriting so well, whichever way one chooses to do it.

    I look forward to exploring tunes more since-to date-it’s the lyric that most often come to me first
    When melodies occur to me they are almost in conjunction with the lyrical hook 🤷🏻
    It would be satisfying to be a Bernie to some Elton somewhere 🤔

    I don't have a single hit. I do however love your channel and Keppie too. I must say that I've been trying to put musical Ideas to work in the form of songwriting for 30 + years and for me , I love to keep working an Idea rewriting it 30 or 40 times to get to what I want to say as well as a different angle of saying it. I'm finally building two or three sections that prevent boredom as well as sing- along type choruses. It passes the time with no pressure , just the satisfaction of feeling the project progress. I know I suffer from being too close to a song to hear it from a fresh perspective, Ie) I like my songs. Haha. This is an interesting Idea from Noel Gallagher Thanks for sharing. I've never tuned in to your channel to find disappointment, you both are excited to share your craft and I thank you, on so many levels. If the song fills my void and speaks to my Idea, I gotta say, I'm satisfied. It's the mystery that keeps me coming back for more.

    Great video, im big fan of Oasis, i’ve been to their and the Chief’s gigs so many time over the years. Like or not he’s still around doing his passion n inspiring others, he’s real, oasis were real band, not a corp artist with so many song writers to help them to release a song. Cheers.

    Its strange how we songwriters can come to the same process independently. I don't turn the sound down but everything else is identical. Big difference, I'm not having the Aha moments that pay off like Noel but I have worked with Mikey Rowe his keyboardist on my last record Lesser Humans.

    Great video. I’ve never wanted to listen to Oasis or Noel’s music cuz he always looks so angry and unhappy. Maybe I should listen to a song or 2. I’ve always been attracted to positive music and people like Yes.

    • @frfrbsb
      @frfrbsb 4 місяці тому +3

      You should definitely listen to his music. You'll find he is an extremely positive music writer. Most of his songs are about enjoying life, following your dreams, getting up when you're down, and not letting anyone or anything get in your way to achieving what you want in life. Even his sad songs have hope in them.

    He also steals ideas and that's coming from a rusted on fan since the 90s. Outside of the well known musical ideas he has borrowed from other artists for his songs he even takes analogies on his writing process from others. the fishing analogy was from Fran Healy (Travis) back in an interview decades ago and he was talking about song writers like himself and Noel. The music first and don't worry about the lyrics approach was also paraphrasing Kurt Cobain in an interview he gave on his writing process.

    • @zarni000
      @zarni000 3 місяці тому

      Well. It's either music furst and lyrics later or lyrics furst and music later. Shame on noel for not being in the other camp as most obviously he was copying Cobain by being in the 1st....ffs
      As for "fishing" it's a standard metaphor. It was invented way before our time.
      Get a clue
