Growing up in the 80s, my grandparents had 2 VHS tapes of movies in their house that weren't westerns: Splash and Police Academy 2, so naturally I've seen them a hundred times. I honestly didn't watch most of them but I would love to see your reaction to the 2nd one for nostalgic reasons. My cousins spent my entire childhood imitating Bobcat Gulthwait (sp??) and I suspect you will totally get that if you watch the movie. Great reaction as always!

@@A-small-amount-of-peas That's hilarious and Police Academy to boot! I imagine this was a uniquely 1980s experience of growing up. Thanks for commenting- that gave me a chuckle!
Back in the 70's my older brother had a friend that was 7'5" tall and he drove a Camaro. He took out the back seat and pushed his seat all the way back.
I say stop at 4, although Michael Winslow is in the last 3, he's really the only thing that makes those ones watchable even though I have that nostalgia towards part 6, which I still enjoy
I recommend you do "Mannequin (1987)" next. It's also a classic eighties comedy with Kim Cattrall, teen brat packer Andrew McCarthy and Capt Harris returns (G. W. Bailey) as a different character. It's hilarious.
Police Academy is a legend. The first one is pretty much just an introduction of the characters, they start making lots of crazy things in the sequels!
Hightower was football legend Bubba Smith. Other great movies starring Steve Guttenberg (Mahoney) are Cocoon, High Spirits (comedy) and Short Circuit. And other Police Academy movies. Everything is too pc for great comedy anymore.

_Bad Medicine_ (1985) too with Julie Hagerty from _Airplane_ .
Innerspace & Three O'Clock High are two slept on 80's comedies no one has done reactions to. You guys should consider them, maybe stand out from the crowd.
Three o'clock high is so slept on, you're the first person I've encountered (other than myself) to recommend it. One of the best films of the 80's. Kudos my man on your very fine taste.
One of my favorite comedies. I've seen it so many times, I can quote the entire thing. I've still got my DVD of it(plus the second and third movie) autographed by Michael Winslow after I saw him perform live at the Improv.
I learned all sorts of things as a 10 year old boy... My mom took us to Theatres to see this..She had no clue what it was about thought it was some type of comedy spoof ,,, she got more than she bargained for...I'm like mom why is that guy making weird noises on the podium.. my mom just gave me an angry look.. My sister who was in her late teens ended up explaining it to me..Of course as a kid I didnt believe a word she said.. So I actually confronted my father about it..lol He pretty much gave it to me straight.. 😂
Yea I was 8 when this came out 😂. I thought it was something about comedy/cartoonish to lol. I begged my mom to go see it she said " Never again you are gonna pick out a movie 😂😂😂
A) The Podium Scene is one of the funniest movie moments of all time. B) Larvel Jones had the role written for him. He was doing a stand up routine and the power went out so he did his sound fx - that's how he was discovered! C) The actress who played Hooks said that, at her audition, she read her lines doing a Michael Jackson impression.
i think i can speak for us all here that we are glad you have yet to see them all and look forward to your journey through the series of the police academy films you wil have an amazing time and lots of laughs too along the way
The podium "gag" is completely new to me. I watched this when I was a kid the first time ... never clued in even though I've had it on as background noise sooo many times
Quick note about Michael Winslow, the man with a thousand voices. The producers , I think were watching a comedy show and they saw him on stage. What happened was the power went out and he did his show from a megaphone. They lobed the show so much, they literally wrote him into this movie.
@@shioriryukaze he talked about that on his stand up show, Michael Winslow Live. In between each segment of the show there's little interviews with him all over Universal Studios, where the stand up show was filmed, talking about his career, like how he ended up in the Cheech and Chong movies, how he ended up being cast in Police Academy just to name a couple. In that show, he also mentions that he did the voice of Stripe in "Gremlins"! And he starts the show with his Jimi Hendrix bit, and opens the show by saying "My name is Michael Winslow. I make noises."
Real glad you got around to this... The first three movies are the best of the series, in my opinion. If you can believe it, this movie series actually inspired a kid's cartoon series (the 80s were weird.) The first time I saw this was back in the early video rental days with family. My dad (an army officer) and my uncle (a cop) were laughing the hardest out of everyone. Especially when it came to Tackleberry, he was their favorite.
Police Academy 1-6 are the best in the series (casually ignore PA7) this movie just screams 80's in the best way possible. and my goodness Sgt. Callahan is so damn sexy.
i love how this movie couldn’t be made nowadays because everybody would be offended even tho it’s hilarious because of the fact that they make fun of everybody. like no one is safe lol. comedy shouldn’t be safe for anyone…that’s true comedy. 💙🤘🏽
Another Fun Fact for you guys: Michael Winslow, the actor who played Larvell Jones, the one who did all of those sound effects, is the only actor that appeared in all 7 Police Academy movies, the Police Academy TV series and Police Academy:The Animated Series
Fun fact about the the scene where guys just turns around with the shotgun and everybody drops on the flor beside of the gun nut - the shotgun just fired, and you need to load new round to make it dangerous ... and the gun nut knew it, so he didn't duck.
Michael Winslow adds his sounds to Spaceballs. Look up him doing Led Zeppelin. comedies: Galaxy Quest, Top Secret!, Clue, My Cousin Vinny, Murder By Death, The In-Laws (1979 version only!), Marie League, I Love You To Death, 1941
19:04 You can see Tackleberry, being the only one NOT ducking or seeking cover. Due to him being a gun nut, he knows that Barbrady cant fire again, cause he didnt recock his gun, and therefore hadnt another round chambered. Little details in movies, little details^^ Edit: Not knowing about "driving defensively" kinda scares me. Go acquire a drivers license in germany, we´ll tell you about it :D

Defensive driving, for example: waiting for someone to cross the road, when they don't have priority. Driving offensively is the opposite: taking priority whenever possible.
I used to live in Toronto right around the corner from The Blue Oyster bar, actual name The Silver Dollar Room. You should consider checking out Porky's, it's another comedy very similar to this but a bit more raunchy.
Almost forgot my recommendations for similar movies... This movie is an example of the 'underdog shapes up and saves the day' trope, which includes some good ones and some awful ones. I'd recommend: Stripes Back To School Revenge Of The Nerds Weird Science Caddyshack Major League (and for a couple newer ones) Major Payne Dodgeball
One thing I can say about the scene of Barbara confronting those guys that bullied him and kicking their asses only to find out the furniture that he'd thought they were stealing was actually their furniture He'd proved to them that they can no longer bully him
Wats Up Guyz! Just an FYI: When Mahoney was teaching the big black man Hightower(b-k-a "Bubba" was his nickname) to drive and made references about OFFENSES AND DEFENSES. He was making a joke about "Bubba" Smith playing in the NFL. He Actually played Professional Football And He Was A Great "DEFENSIVE" Player too. He passed away on August 2011...FACTS! And this was a great reaction guys👍🏿💯👍🏿
Some Fun Facts for you guys: Steve Guttenberg (Mahoney) auditioned for this part wearing his father's NYPD uniform shirt All of the actors in preparation for their roles in this movie actually trained at a real-life Police Academy, Kim Cattrall being pretty proficient on the firing range The scene where Mahoney was helping Hightower prepare for the driving course, the driver of the he rear-ended was the director of the movie, because the actor who was intended to film the scene was so drunk that he was unable to do that scene Actress Marion Ramsey(Hooks) actually had worn a fat suit under her clothes, which was intended to get skinny as her character's training had progressed in the follow-up movies and the tone of voice she uses when saying the line "Don't Move, Dirtbag" was closer to her actual speaking voice
they don't make movies like that anymore cancel culture is really screwed up funny movies and TV shows in this era they could never make a movie like that anymore somebody would be offended One Way or Another and not see that is only a joke. I hope you to get to see a TV show called married with children I know you would love it as well.

Oktokrool : Are you not entertained !! .... The internet : Yes we are !! I dig your reactions guys, police academy is not a film I have watched often, but seeing you guys react to it was great fun. Agreed the podium scene is a riot, but so many other great moments as well. I'm not a Steve Guttenburg fan, but the variety of other characters made up for that for me.
Thank you Martin, I think that's the beauty of this film; it has so many different character and things going on that there's something everyone can like!
Police Academy was huge over here in Germany. It was showing every few months and I remember my parents allowing me to watch it as a child. We quoted everything in school.
Still funny after all these years, why Police Academy is amongst the classics. The sequels well - alas paramount example of a franchise that the jokes were nowhere near as good and they just continued making them for way too many years (2 and 3 are still with a lot of funny sequences but after that rest are inferior)...but the first, is a gem. The thing about the many sequels still is the music - they kept that original theme music through the entire run and that tune alone brings back so much nostalgia and an uplifting piece of movie music.
I have my regular movie reactors, but today I was looking for a new movie to watch reactions to. I stumbled across you guys. You had me cracking up at, "The man's a plague. A menace to society!" That's when I knew I had to subscribe. :)
I was standing in line at Lowe's once and heard a little girl voice behind me. I turned and it was a fully grown, yet very petite, black woman. She sounded just like Hooks in this movie.
Larvell Jones (played by Michael Winslow) is in all 7 Police Academy movies. But Michael Winslow is known as The Man of 10,000 Sound Effects. You can find quite a few of his actual comedy performances on here if you want to see more of what he can do.

Driving defensively is an old method that they used to teach driving. It basically meant be cautious, let other cars go first, anticipate lane changes etc. Essentially safe driving practices.
Defensive driving is when someone drives and basically thinks everyone isn't going to follow the rules. It keeps you safer because not only are you looking out for yourself, but you expect other people to mess up. This keeps you more alert and ready to react. Offensive driving is putting your needs first and making others react to you, which is more dangerous.
The sound effects cop (officer Jones) has a number of stand up specials found here on UA-cam. His name is Michael Winslow. Met him at the Rose City Comic-Con here in Portland, Oregon on 2014. @@Kasino80Don’t forget all those horrible, horrible stereotypes!🙄 Now, let’s all rage about stereotypes, then proceed to put almost nothing but stereotypes and caricatures in “progressive” media. Looking at you, Hollywood, Disney, Woker Bros., and too many other entities to count or name.🖕🖕 But it’s okay ‘cause they’re so “inclusive”, right??😑 What a sham.
Ah a kindred spirit. My grandparents had three VHS movies taped off the TV. Tom Thumb, Indiana Jones and the temple of doom and Police Academy. I think I still know them word for word 😂
@@A-small-amount-of-peas That's hilarious and Police Academy to boot! I imagine this was a uniquely 1980s experience of growing up. Thanks for commenting- that gave me a chuckle!
Tackleberry was the only one not to duck when Barbara pointed the shotgun because he knew it wouldn't fire till he racked in another shell.
Back in the 70's my older brother had a friend that was 7'5" tall and he drove a Camaro. He took out the back seat and pushed his seat all the way back.
Defensive driving is the term for looking ahead a lot and doing everything possible to prevent an accident.
I hope y'all do this whole series lol or at least up to 5, I love these movies
no please don't
I liked the one with the two dogs fighting with torches on their collars 😂
@@TommyLellan That's 3, I believe.
I say stop at 4, although Michael Winslow is in the last 3, he's really the only thing that makes those ones watchable even though I have that nostalgia towards part 6, which I still enjoy
Yes hopefully they do up to part 4 .
Cant be worse than 9 fast and furious movies or scream movies etc etc .
I recommend you do "Mannequin (1987)" next. It's also a classic eighties comedy with Kim Cattrall, teen brat packer Andrew McCarthy and Capt Harris returns (G. W. Bailey) as a different character. It's hilarious.
omg yes please i love that silly fun movie, it's so perfectly 80s
@@AbsoluteAprilAide-mémoire
Police Academy is a legend. The first one is pretty much just an introduction of the characters, they start making lots of crazy things in the sequels!
The 80's is one of my favorite movie era's ever. Hope you guys do more, keep up the great work homies.🤘😊
considering the decrease in quality movies since then, i would say the 80's used up all the good ideas.
The 80's were the best time to be a teen!
@@shallendor agreed
@@shallendorlot of sех as a teen back than
Hightower was football legend Bubba Smith.
"Serial Mom" - a great comedy! consider reacting
Great recommendation!
I begged my mom to go see it she said " Never again you are gonna pick out a movie 😂😂😂
i saw it at these things called drive in's! you know what they are but sadly millions of people out there have no clue how great those were.
Did you watch the non horse version of Police Academy? “someone call a veterinarian!”
🫶🏼😹🤣😂
A) The Podium Scene is one of the funniest movie moments of all time. B) Larvel Jones had the role written for him. He was doing a stand up routine and the power went out so he did his sound fx - that's how he was discovered! C) The actress who played Hooks said that, at her audition, she read her lines doing a Michael Jackson impression.
Happy to see you react to Police Academy! Some of my favorite movies! Hope you watch the rest too!
i think i can speak for us all here that we are glad you have yet to see them all and look forward to your journey through the series of the police academy films you wil have an amazing time and lots of laughs too along the way
Everytime Police Acadamy (any of them) came on HBO, my brothers and I would pick a character and act them out!
There were so many classic movies made in the 80's.
The Man of 100,000 Sound Effects! He said that they once tried to put all of the sounds he could make onto a computer and ended up crashing it.
@@LilRocker2005 holy crap man...
If you can believe it, this movie series actually inspired a kid's cartoon series (the 80s were weird.)
The first time I saw this was back in the early video rental days with family.
Another Fun Fact for you guys:
Michael Winslow, the actor who played Larvell Jones, the one who did all of those sound effects, is the only actor that appeared in all 7 Police Academy movies, the Police Academy TV series and Police Academy:The Animated Series
As soon as I saw the notification that you were watching Police Academy I knew this would be a perfect one for you two. it's a classic!
This movie was filmed around Toronto. The site for the Police Academy is the Humber College Lakeshore Campus
Fun fact about the the scene where guys just turns around with the shotgun and everybody drops on the flor beside of the gun nut - the shotgun just fired, and you need to load new round to make it dangerous ... and the gun nut knew it, so he didn't duck.
The podium scene took me all the way out😂😂🤣🤣😂😂. Hilarious reaction!
This brought back so many memories watching these movies with my family. React to Revenge of the Nerds. That’s another classic
Hightower was NFL legend Bubba Smith 🏈
Time for the sequels. The last few weren't that good, but 1 through 5 are really good.
there are 7 in total, but yeah, City under siege and Mission in Moscow aren't that up to par with the first 5.
The Blue Oyster Bar also makes an appearance in the second Police Academy movie
Also in the 2nd movie, Tackleberry explains why he is mesmerized by women and doesn't talk to them.
Aww, man. Bubba Smith - what a sweet dude. ❤️
The clumsy guy's wife/hood ornament was played by Debralee Scott, a great comedic actress who died far too soon. She appears in Police Academy 3 also.
19:04 You can see Tackleberry, being the only one NOT ducking or seeking cover. Due to him being a gun nut, he knows that Barbrady cant fire again, cause he didnt recock his gun, and therefore hadnt another round chambered.
Little details in movies, little details^^
Edit: Not knowing about "driving defensively" kinda scares me. Go acquire a drivers license in germany, we´ll tell you about it :D
You.guys are fucking awesome for watching this movie, I can't wait until they watch the whole series
Total classic '80s humor. I hope you guys get a chance to watch the second one which is my favorite. Three is okay but I wouldn't go beyond there. Continue on your movie mission guys. Love going along for the ride
Part 2 is good as well. The opening scene shows were they had been assigned. Michael Winslow during that part, is one to have on repeat.
16:00 A young Kim Cattrall in hip hugging shorts: who wouldn't stay for that!?
Loved this Movie!!💕 Too DAMN FUNNY!! And I agree. From the time the Commandant got " Serviced" at the Podium, to the Moment he Told The Lieutenant that Mahoney had Done Something VERY Bad!!😂 I Laughed so Hard 😂, I couldn't Breathe!! And l always thought the Guy Doing All the Sound Effects Orally, was Hilarious!! The Actor's Real name is Michael Winslow!! 🤣
37:26 ....."Videogames has been our main source of entertainment for [...] we started at a very young age".... That made us three, then.... I was I think 5, and started with my father's Spectrum (Y'a know, the one that took 30 minutes to load a game)
I'd recommend:
Stripes
Back To School
Revenge Of The Nerds
Weird Science
Caddyshack
Major League
(and for a couple newer ones)
Major Payne
Dodgeball
7 Police Academy movies were made and an 8th rumored to be in production
One thing I can say about the scene of Barbara confronting those guys that bullied him and kicking their asses only to find out the furniture that he'd thought they were stealing was actually their furniture
He'd proved to them that they can no longer bully him
Wats Up Guyz!
Finally...someone reacts to the damn shaving scene..this shit made me fucking die back when I saw this at 7 years old and no one reacts to it!
Some Fun Facts for you guys:
Steve Guttenberg (Mahoney) auditioned for this part wearing his father's NYPD uniform shirt
All of the actors in preparation for their roles in this movie actually trained at a real-life Police Academy, Kim Cattrall being pretty proficient on the firing range
The scene where Mahoney was helping Hightower prepare for the driving course, the driver of the he rear-ended was the director of the movie, because the actor who was intended to film the scene was so drunk that he was unable to do that scene
Actress Marion Ramsey(Hooks) actually had worn a fat suit under her clothes, which was intended to get skinny as her character's training had progressed in the follow-up movies and the tone of voice she uses when saying the line "Don't Move, Dirtbag" was closer to her actual speaking voice
you two were great watching Police Academy again make me laugh so much I hope you get to watch Police Academy 2.
they don't make movies like that anymore cancel culture is really screwed up funny movies and TV shows in this era they could never make a movie like that anymore somebody would be offended One Way or Another and not see that is only a joke. I hope you to get to see a TV show called married with children I know you would love it as well.
Fackler is hilarious. He's like a reverse-magnet for bad luck. He repels it from himself and onto others. Can cause chaos, but avoids the negatives as if just born that way XD
Can you guys do Major Payne next. It's hilarious!
Long live Tackleberry!!!
I'm an 80's baby, and forgot how much i loved this movie until now. Check out Porkies and also Revenge of The Nerds.💋💗💗
Please consider reacting to “The Blues Brothers” with John Belushi and Dan Ackroyd. Thank you.
Love the comedies. Love the dramas. Love the sci Fi. Guess I just love watching movies with you guys! Sweet!
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Don't forget the horrors.
You should check out “Real Genius” with Val Kilmer
The sound effects guy is Michael Winslow he was also in Spaceballs a star wars parody movie as well as others
Gotta get to the next one for the addition of Bobcat Goldthwait. These cracked me up as a kid
There's a stand up show on Tubi TV called Michael Winslow Live! He tears it up on stage for a full 90 minutes of sounds and laughs!
One of my best friends and I have a running gag where if we bump into something we'll say "Sorry Kitty!" and we took that from Michael Winslow Live
Michael Winslow (sound effect guy) was a stand up comedian before becoming an actor.
There ARE clips on youtube from his shows, including beatboxing.
I read an article just a few weeks ago saying he was making a come back in Hollywood.
Dont remember if it was as an actor or as a comedian but hes apparently coming back.
Wait till you meet Mr Sweetchuck ❤️
Cult classic comedy from 1995 "SERIAL MOM"
Michael Winslow is a well respected vocal artist. This would be a quick react if you wanted or you can watch on your own but here he mimics an electric guitar from Led Zepplin's Whole Lotta Love: ua-cam.com/video/1HHMA1Dpo5M/v-deo.html It's only 2:13 long.
The guy who "caused the riot" is what we refer to as accident prone. I have this problem myself.
1min 3 seconds in and you guy just put a smile on my face for the day ...love the energy love the intro love you guys ...also my shirt recommendations is .....a green shirt
I was laughing before the movie even started you guys are hilarious. Police Academy one of my favorite comedy movies never gets old.
Now you need to watch the other 6 in the series.
Please do police academy 2, you need to see bobcat
You guys are so adorable! I’m addicted to y’all videos😍
I've come to love Chris & Curtis aka "Built Different", bcuz I've seen every movie 1 bazillion times, that they haven't & the natural & genuine reactions are monumental !!! I'm almost 49 so I remember when doing research on history wasn't a click, upload, or link away !!! Mad props to OCTOKROOL !!!
He is known in all the comedy circles as the man of 1000 sound effects. He has been in ALL 7 or 8 Police Academy movies, Gremlins as well as Spaceballs. Enjoy boys.
