I can't believe it, it took me years looking for the shinin force game, since I didn't know the name, and thanks to this video I'll finally be able to play it again after so long
Thank you for making this game list for all RPG related games for the Genesis. I couldn’t recalled the life in me a particular game and trying to search it up with the description of the cartridge art did not help. The save music in Traysia haunts my mind once a year. I’m surprised no gaming UA-camr ever use it for reviews. It’s the perfect background song.
It is actually quite plenty compared to other systems like Turbo Graffx, Sega Saturn, N64 and even the NES In fact I would say there are more systems pre-PS1 era with less RPGs than there are with more. I think it's only seconded by SNES until PS1 drops. If you include Sega CD add on as an extension to the library, then it easily rivals SNES
@@yuripetrovic7606 Yeah, looking through game libraries, there is a surprising monopoly on turn based RPGs held by Square on Enix, who both were Nintendo exclusive developers It's not necessarily that Sega DIDN'T or COULDN'T have RPGs, it's that the audience was where FF and DQ were, first and foremost
@@MapleMilk Which is a bit of a shame because Genesis really is a solid 2nd Place for RPGs throughout the 16 bit era. And we're not just talking about Phantasy Star 4 either.
I wonder how ports the old NES games of the Final Fantasy games and Dragon Warrior(Dragon Quest) games could've looked on the Genesis/Mega-Drive. Obviously they weren't going to port over their SNES efforts to it because those versions were built specifically for the SNES in mind; but it begs the question how at least Genesis/Mega-Drive ports from the NES games could've looked, played, and felt back then.
I would say there are a few more, 64 games that could be considered RPGs. Of course, it’s impossible to define this perfectly. Here are the games I personally own within this genre. While not the plentiest, still a surprisingly good and diverse library with many unique titles.
