Great idea.. I have the DDJ 1000 and I did not know you could move one effect from one channel to the other. With this trick with one turntable you can make a whole set. Great help. Thank you.
I do this all the time with my DJM400, but switch the channel selector to mic so I still have my other 2 channels free. Actually I saw it on one of your videos about 10 years ago... thanks for that J!
Hi J, I first saw this trick in your video about the djm 400 (which is what I still use with my 1210's). I love it cos I can play songs from the same record back to back. So handy!
Tried this many times with unsuccessful results. Figured out the receiving looped sample has to be SET to either a non-active USB port (ie not running rekordbox) or Line input. Thank you for the tip this should come in handy during those Vinyl only Sunday fundays.
Love ya vidz matey.... have you a way of making the sound quality better when playing vinyl... Pioneer say it is because it is really designed solely for digital and when using vinyl aDVS ... anynideas

Do you know if this will work using the DDJ-1000 as fully standalone mixer (ie no laptop)? I just ordered a Denon SC5000 that I want to use with my DDJ-1000 sans laptop.
Does the turntable only work when you have a laptop connected or can you use the controller and its eq / faders even without it when you want play vinyl only? Thank you!
I am doing a charity fundraiser DJ event with my Pioneer DDJ 1000. - I've been asked to bring and play Vinyl too. In this video are you also saying we can play doubles too with one turntable or just swap efxs? I have a Tech SL 1200. I keep hearing that The DDJ 1000 doesn't sound good when playing real vinyl or DVS. In your opinion if I were to add something to help the sound what should I add?
How is the sound quality playing normal vinyl on turntables? Is it as good as djm mixers? Or do you feel the sound is slightly flat? I am looking to upgrade to 1000 as my current controller I have sx2 the vinyl sound going through is really bad.
I am having the same problem with my Pioneer ddjsx3,the sound is horrible and I thought it might be the cartridges but doubt it. Please let me know if you get better sound out of the ddj1000 with real vinyl.
@@djantonio72 you can buy some phono pre-amps and place them between your decks and the ddjsx3. This will solve the problem fairly cheaply. Basically the inbuilt preamp on most of the pioneer digital controllers are super cheap as they're more meant for DVS control records rather than playing vinyl.
I have a DDJ SX2 and tried to plug my Technics turntable in. The sound of the vinyl is not so great. In fact sounded very flat. Trying to tweak the mid and bass on the mixer didn’t sound any different. I was so disappointed with the sound, I added my older DJM mixer for my vinyl. How is the sound on the vinyl with DJM 1000? Do you feel the sound pro level? That you don’t feel the sound has dropped in any way compared to a normal pro mixer? Thanks
DDJ1000's phono preamps are shocking - but Pioneer DJ assumed most people will only use them for control vinyl, so it's probably a fair cost cutting compromise. I brought this up on the Pioneer DJ forum and the Pioneer DJ rep conceded as much. His advice, and my advice is to buy a reasonably priced phono preamp (x2) and hook your SL's in via the line inputs.
@@waynehick If I was buying today, and it had to be Pioneer, probably the DJ XDJ-XZ. It’s a mix of the DDJ1000 and Nexus hardware. DDJ1000 is great value, but XZ is bigger and more solid and my guess is less compromised inside.
@@royalboob I've literally just picked up the DDJ 1000. It's not cheap at £1100 so I'm a bit confused as to why people are complaining about the analogue signal. I'm going to be giving it a spin tonight but it will be going straight back if my turntables sound shitty through it. I considered the XZ but my wife would have chopped my nuts off given the price difference.
@@waynehick As a digital machine, it’s great. (Watch for hum in the headphone output though) - but the analogue phono inputs playing normal records are very poor compared to even an average amplifiers phono stage. But it wasn’t really built for that.

@ellaskins hi mate was wondering how is scratching on the turntable with this controller does it feel like a long reach between the crossfader and the deck? cheers!
Hey Mr! What do you think, should I buy now the DDJ 400 or wait for another controller from Pioneer to appear this year? I'm not rushing too much into dj-ing, but I want to get the newest best dj-ing beggineer controller.
Question about having two laptops connected the code to run Rekordbox can it be used on more than one computer and if Theres another dj playing after you how would he connect if the DDJ 1000 only runs on Rekordbox. Do you get where I am kinda going with this. Patiently waiting a response.
@@wellhiddenmatt Thanks for the reply, yes I done all that, still an issue. Im aware of the difference between line and phono, sorry I should have wrote that in my comment. still really low
On the back of the ddj 1000 there is a ground, make sure u use that and next to channels 4 and three there is a switch for line and phono next to where the aux go in, make sure they are on phono
The controller is fantastic, but the internal mixing chip is cheap and awful for vinyl AND line level signals. any change in gain from 12 o'clock destroys the sound. It's designed as a controller, and unfortunately the audio ports are only realistically useful for DVS functions.
@@StealthCT what about CDJs on the line input? Is the sound quality still below expectations? What if i used a PLX-500 switched to line output instead of phono?
@@thedoc5350 if you keep then at ~12 o'clock on the gain (so there's no manipulation) you can avoid digital distortion! Unfortunately adjusting gain in this 16-bit digital domain can introduce artifacting - you might not notice it with some music, but it's detectable. Definitely use line level where you can - digital phono preamp never sounds good.

Brilliant idea to use vinyl with the DDJ-1000. How do you manage GND for the turntable? (no GND attach on the DDJ unlike the DJMs)
