For the price, this is the steal of steals in my book. I've had this mixer all of 7 days and blown away how easy it is to setup, use and sound has blown me away. While I love the Rane 72 and Pioneer S9, they're a NYC studio apartment month's worth of rent, whereas this Numark Scratch mixer is $499 and a beast. My only gripe is the cue buttons are a lil tight, but I'm sure I'll adjust in no time though. Make the investment and don't be surprised if this becomes your go to mixer at events.
Thank you very much. Very helpful. About to purchase a setup and this is perfect in a sense that it's simple, affordable, but has important features like hot cue pads and effect knobs/switches on the mixer, as opposed to mixers like the Pioneer S3. Definitely a bargain.
Can be used with any turntable ,can be used as a traditional setup without serato dvs computer setup and you can use as standalone traditional 2channel dj mixer ,however the only effects in standalone is filter, other effect works only with serato dvs....hope this helps
Does serato get fully unlocked or is it only for use with scratch? If I buy this, can I take this serato version to a venue that has an s9 and be compatible? Just making sure it's not proprietary to numark scratch only mixer
The Numark Scratch works as an 'unlock dongle' for Serato. This means when it is connected, Serato DJ Pro and the DVS capabilities are unlocked as though you have purchased the full version. However this is not transferrable, so Serato will not be fully enabled when the Scratch is not connected.
I’ve been using 1200s, Vestax samurai 06 and serato with akai midi for over a decade now, but I’m seriously considering this mixer! It’s undeniably good value. But my question is (and I think I know the answer) can you reassign the the cues or ‘knobs’ the same way you can with a midi controller?
I own this beauty since yesterday. Best bang for buck imho! Only the crossfader is a Innofader, tough. Linefaders are regular faders but they are very smooth, too. Filter is a little bit aggressive too me. Sadly the cue buttons only light up in red, it would have been nice if they retlect the acutual colours you have set up in the software.
Great to hear you're happy with this mixer! RGB lighting would be nice on the pads, always seems to add an extra premium to the price though unfortunately.
I'm having issues with Serato not giving DECK SETUP options with their Scratch? And DVS also not automatically activating? Not finding answers for this issue anywhere. Please help!
It was released shortly before this video! They were very popular and sold out quickly but should be back in stock in the next week or so: www.getinthemix.com/dj-equipment/dj-mixers/numark-scratch-dj-mixer.htm
An Innofader is a much higher quality than standard ones. It slides/feels much smoother and more accurate, responding to every little movement. Additionally, you can also adjust the feel of the resistance on them so you can fine tune it to your preference. In summary, they're stronger, smoother, more accurate and adjustable.
Thanks for the review. Quick question....can you control the volume of the samples when you activate them from the sample pads or is the volume preset? Not a deal breaker. I actually just ordered the mixer yesterday, but I was just wondering.
The Z2 is now in the same price range. Bear in mind that the Z2 is way older than the Numark and Traktor doesn' t get that much love from NI supportwise like Serato gets. Z2 was released in 2012!!!
Why not just buy a used Rane 62. It’s ~ $100 more but offers more looping options, more effects, and midi mapping. That’s all in addition to the dual USB. Meanwhile build and sound quality are givens.
It is not Macbook only, it will run on any laptop providing it meets to minimum spec requirements of Serato: support.serato.com/hc/en-us/articles/115005438227-Serato-Sample-system-requirements
Yo! Its not the fact i hate it! Its just the fact that i have the 62 and that has the same problem! And thats the same reason i said it like that! And all djs are not rich as some! Plus all nite clubs don't want to pay djs the right cash to djs! Only to those who are named or well established! And in this day and age who can afford 600 or more for a mixer?
At first, It have only 1 innofader - not innofaders, the effect u r enjoyed about are just stock serato FX, one thing this mixer have fucked up is that the linefaders are soldered into board so GL with changing them. Its not jest bang to Buck ratio, mixars rape this thing in almost ecerything and have similar price
Spats Lewis it’s a $500 mixer - you want all 8 you need to pay for it - probably an artificial way of enticing people to spend more on a higher end mixer. The Mixars duo has 4 pads, but can flip between 1-4 and 5-8.
@@Paulorp1979 It's a fantastic mixer for what it is / was. For its time was unbeatable. So many solid options these days. Amazing faders across the board.
Big rip off, upfader are un- change able and start to glitch it makes mixer un- useable. I got no help from music store or from customer service afther send video with the problem, i will never ever buy anything from Numark

Nice Mixer I seen Dj Perly doing the Demo for Numark. I can't wait to purchase one.
Long live the king, the king is back!
very nice Mixer/controller and now supported plug & play by Virtualdj 2018
Is there any way to use stems in this mixer?
Ooo a dry wet knob..& a bit of Flange.. lol..i really like the feel of this knob.. i bet you do
mesmo mapeamento é valido para numark scratch ? preciso mapear backspin na chave do mixer
Dope! I’m totally sold on the Numark Scratch! Thanks for sharing the knowledge!
No problem, it really is a great mixer!
Do the effects work on analog vinyl?
No, they are software exclusive for Serato DJ.

Happy to help, we're sure you'll love it!
Do the volume faders have a curve adjust so you can cut with them?
You can adjust in serato (Software only)
Not sure if I should get this and one table (only have 1 turntable) or an S4 MK3
Does it need a turnatable that supports serato? Or can it be used with a , let's say mk2?
Can be used with any turntable ,can be used as a traditional setup without serato dvs computer setup and you can use as standalone traditional 2channel dj mixer ,however the only effects in standalone is filter, other effect works only with serato dvs....hope this helps
Would I need a USB hub if I were to use it with two Rane 12 decks
No, not as long as you have 3 USB ports available on your computer.
Ok thanks
What is the name of that awesome beat that is played through the review?
It is Scratch Beat 4 (Remix 2) by Peabird - available on Beatport!
classic.beatport.com/track/scratch-beat-4-remix-2/54208
in standalone mode the pads and fx is kinda useless cause they only work in Serato mode right? sorry I’m not really familiar with hybrid stuff
wish they’d release Serato for ios at least so I just have to connect an ipad for dvs

The volume isn't directly editable from the Scratch but you can adjust the volume of each sample within Serato. The volume is midi-mappable however.
GetInTheMix sounds great. Thank you
Numark Scrach or Traktor Z2?
For the extra 150 to 200 bucks, you should get the z2. I am i also have allwYs used traktor & not serato. Gud luck with ya choice matey 😉

I did indeed, not sure why but it was the first thing my brain jumped to 😂😂
I mean he's not wrong... Reverse switch, Hamster switch, potato, tomato lol! ^_^

V. Echo stands for version echo🙂
And whats the difference of normal echo?
@@giannio3128 I can't really explain it in words but it's part of the Serato fx, Trigger them both and hear for yourself.
Is this unit standalone or it requires a computer ?
I think that its standalone with vinyl, not with dvs
You can use it standalone but to in order to make use of the effects and performance pad you'll require a computer.
