    Watching in 2021 and it is hard to imagine that there are only 5 incomplete Troughton stories yet to be released: The Abominable Snowmen, The Highlanders, The Wheel in Space, The Space Pirates and The Underwater Menace still doesn't have an animated version. Never expected this when I first started collecting the line about 12 years ago.

    I still don't understand why the BBC wouldn't let the restoration team do a real telesnap recon for The Underwater Menace. The initial Loose Cannon recon is much better. I still think what I thought at the time, that Phil Morris was playing games with them, just like he was doing with the fans, and pretending like he had found a ton more after Enemy of the World and Web of Fear, so they figured there wasn't much point into putting a lot of effort into the reconstruction if the story was going to be returned soon anyway. They also probably figured it would be easier to get everyone to double dip on the complete story later if the initial release wasn't that good. Of course, now we all know he was wasting everyone's time. Luckily, all the REAL Loose Cannon recons are on piratebay, so we have access to the best versions available.

      The Loose Cannon version of Marco Polo is fantastic.

    I’m pretty sure the wheel in space is available to pre order on Amazon us not U.K. because I live in the U.K. and I’m very annoyed that it isn’t available here

    The Wheel in Space has telesnap reconstructions that was released exclusively on Britbox so the DVD release may just include that since Britbox is only available in the US and maybe Canada.

      Yeah, we have Britbox here too. Well that's a disappointment if true.

    We know for a fact that episode 3 of Web was stolen as Phil Morris shown a picture of when he initially found the reels and it was there, his theory is that the controller of the TV station kidnapped it and sold it to a collector. One of the main people behind the recovery efforts, Paul Vanezis, has also said he knows for a fact there are missing episodes in the hands of private collectors that don’t want to give them up - so imagine how many more there are that we don’t know about.

    Even after I sent you a package you're still sending me hidden messages in your videos. :D Kidding, but I might try and import that special edition for you if you want me too, as for the Power of the Daleks Blu-ray I'm having trouble finding out if wear ever or not the Blu-ray is only coded to Region B or if it's multi-regional? From what little of the packaging I saw from 'unboxing' videos, there doesn't seem to mention any form of region coding, and the same can be said for the Blu-ray discs. But we'll see. For as it is the Blu-ray (the non special edition without the steelbook packaging or the DVD edition included) is still pretty pricy for what it is.

      I would love to have that special edition of Enemy of the World! It seems so cold and sad sitting there on my shelf devoid of extras, surrounded by its extras-laden brothers.... Looked up Power of the Daleks on blu-ray.com, and it looks like it actually is Region Free. Well dang, all this time I thought it was Region locked so I avoided it....d'oh!

    • @David315842
      @David315842 6 років тому

      It doesn't have any Region Code mention so by law it's Region well A, B and C in this instance. Well we'll see about it, especially if I can get it for a decent price.

    Between the Blu-Ray sets and the animated reconstructions (The Macra Terror this year, and next year with The Faceless Ones and Fury from the Deep), the last couple of years have been really good for classic Doctor Who. And I couldn't be any more proud.

    Tomb of the Cybermen is always considered The 2nd Doctor's Magnum Opus, but I like The War Games & Ice Warriors too.

    The Special edition Blu-Ray of Classic Who season 19 is beautiful! Pre order it while you can, the SE of season 12 is now OOP and selling for crazy money

    You can also tell when the novelization came out based on which era's logo is on the front. No consistency there :P

    I own that DVD of the reconstruction of “Power of the Daleks” and the color version is also 16:9 anamorphic Widescreen with a very nice DD 5.1 audio track. This makes the omission of the Blu-ray in Region 1 even more curious.

    • @zaranyzerak
      @zaranyzerak  6 років тому

      Yeah, I know the whole thing was animated in HD. No idea why we didn't get the Blu over here. We're getting the same treatment with Shada - DVD only here. With that one, I actually imported the Blu-ray Steelbook as it's Region Free. I think the Power of the Daleks one is Region B locked, alas.

      C Stove 70's BBC had a policy of wiping the old taped for use in new shows. Back then, no one thought they could be used for the home video market.

    How's the dvd of Power? Any noticeable quality loss?

    • @zaranyzerak
      @zaranyzerak  3 роки тому +1

      Well, the Blu-rays are definitely better quality, much crisper, but the DVDs are fine for what they are.

      @@zaranyzerak seems like the bluray is MAYBE region free? Can't get a definitive answer on that

    • @zaranyzerak
      @zaranyzerak  3 роки тому +1

      @@BooneBluemel It is definitely Region Free. I can tell you that definitively because I've watched it on my PS4 (they won't play on the PS3 though). Same goes for all the animated reconstruction Blu-rays, I've been collecting them all and have had no issues watching them.
