- I did not include teeth brushing in this video, because we do not do it and so we don't have the supplies to even demonstrate it for you. But all kibble fed ferrets must have their teeth brushed every other day.

FERRETS DO NOT NEED BATHS. Oatmeal soaks are optional and good for shedding season. Nail trimming should be done every 2-3 weeks. Hope you enjoyed the video!

Katelyn Hicks It tends to overdry and strip their skin of oils, which makes them stinkier and way more itchy. Not to mention most if not all ferret shampoos have terrible ingredients and do way more harm then good

A great video once again. I only do oatmeal baths as well. My girl Bonnie I bathed every two months when I got her but I have learned after her 3rd time not to do that and in the year and a half that I have had her she has only gotten one this shedding season since I learned. My younger boy has only had one bath right when he came home as he was really stinky from the bedding he was living in and has been just fine since then.🙂 You guys are such great ferrents!

Yeah back when we had ferrets, my mom would put cod liver oil on Calvin's tummy so her nails could be clipped(she was too squirmy otherwise). Hobbes was a pretty laid back ferret, so clipping his nails was easier.

Can you do a video on how we would do teeth cleaning though, even though I know you posted you don't do it? I have 3 and would like to learn as mine are kibble fed and not raw so I know it's important that I do it and I never have.

If you dont have anyone to help with nail trimming you can put any ferret safe liquid like cod liver oil on their tummy and then they will just sit there licking it off

How do you keep your ferrets from pooping in random places when they are free roaming? I have a little guy who does SO GOOD in his room with his cage that he can always roam but the rest of the house is another story... (Our place isn't that big) there are 2 central litter boxes in the living room kitchen area he uses sometimes, don't know what else to do

so you dont use any soap? just oatmeal? New ferret mom here. I enjoy these videos allot havnt bathed mine yet. They are marshall babies which im sad about, but im happy i didnt leave them at the pet store to be stuck in a cage all day. They suggested marshall diet and then transition them to Instinct Duck cat food, which im discovering isnt the best either!

If a ferret enjoys bathtime/swimming, is it alright to let them swim in warm bathwater for a little while on a regular basis, supervised, or does that affect their bodies negatively? I don't currently have ferrets but have in the past and look forward to adopting in the future.

How do your ferrets not bite you
I have sooo many questions!!🥺😫I have two ferrets Crash and Eddie and we just moved into a new apartment. They just turned 1 in the beginning of this month, they have some minor behavior problems that I can train them for mostly, but two major things are Eddie scratches at the corners of our new carpeting and is ripping it from the floor 🥺he's also biting at our new furniture, I'm not sure what to do!! How much do you need to change the rice? And do you need to wash the rice before you put it for them?
Do not wash the rice because it softens it (as if you were cooking it but not as extreme) so don’t wash it. Personally I don’t change it often but just when it gets dirty or if it gets wet. They also might occasionally use the bathroom in it so that would be an immediate change for what I do. Hope this helps.

when he pees, his feet sometimes slide when he pushes up against a corner and his pee gets on his belly, lol!
Yes for males it tends to happen occasionally. Pretty much when they flatten out their belly too close to the surface they're going potty on. It's not on purpose, as she said, their back or front feet can slide causing it to happen. Less so with females unless they're having a health issue and trouble balancing on their hind legs and fall sitting in their mess on accident. I just take a few wet paper towels and wipe the area down if it's just urine to avoid a full bath if not needed. But if it was feces as well I'll run warm water and hold their hind end under as I clean their coat off then towel dry and let them finish air drying. Just be sure to disinfect the sink or tub after if it was feces. Sometimes a ferret can catch a cold we have and cause some diarrhea making this happen. (I'm the sole caretaker of mine so yes unfortunately we sometimes share a cold despite my disinfection measures.) But never leave feces to dry on an animal, as it can cause sores and infection.

Hey! I recently got a new ferret from an at home rescue and she is VERY underweight. I toke her to the vet and turns out she has two common health issues and she is 5 years old and not two. She weighs 500 grams, I was wondering if you have any tips on how to make your ferret gain weight faster? She is on Marshall's rn but I'm putting her on wysong soon. ( I want to do raw eventually but I'm still researching it)
