Without question or debate, Pavel Bure is the best player the Vancouver Canucks ever had.
I will say mogilny is a close second!
Skill wise yes, overall as a figure of the franchise not even close.
When he left Vancouver I was heart broken but still followed him wherever he played...The Best Player I got to See play the game ...EVER!!!!

Everytime he touched the puck, your butt left your seat. He was amazing and we were lucky to have him.
One of my heros as a kid , and still to this day remains in my top 3 of all time favorite players. Watching you and your brother was always the highlight of every game. Thank you Mr Bure...#10
As a life long BC resident, I must admit I've never liked the Canucks but I've always loved Pavel Bure. Even though i was only 1 when he got his NHL debut, he is by far one of my all time favorite hockey players. Sakic, Forsberg, Bure and Mogilny. I sure miss the 90s hockey. Maybe it's cause I was a kid, I don't know but there's something about it that brings back such a nostalgic feeling.
We are blessed to have him in Vancouver and the City will always love him

@@delpierochch I didn't have many people to Inspire me as a kid. Pavel was a hero, and I aspired to be a sniper like him. And watched his games. When he retired, NHL was dead to me

Pavel did everything top speed. He was so exciting to watch.
This guy should have been treated like a god by the management, and instead was screwed over so many times. It's so effin sad. He always put a smile on my face.

@@gunman462 I'm genuinely curious as to how the team messed things up w him. As a young kid once NHL 94(?) on genesis allowed trades I had a Bure Mogilny Federov 3rd line.
Bure is one of my all time favorites from the other conference but I know nothing about this.
@@bxball they didn't the problem was Vancouver fans/media he became a Vancouver Area icon and he couldn't go anywhere without being harassed and he couldn't live a normal life so he requested a trade and ended up being sent to the team with the least interested hockey fan base in the league in the panthers. It had nothing to do with management.
It was most definitely the management and not the city, media, or the fans. The Canucks organization fucked up and started playing mind games with a stone cold Russian who doesnt play mind games. He gave them everything. A reason to watch Canucks hockey. And a chance to win it all. The fans knew it. The media knew it. His team knew it. The management clearly didnt. They broke the cardinal rule: You dont disrespect your greatest asset.
He is the reason i am a canucks fan to this day.

I was at that game. There was a lull after he split the defense, then a huge cheer.
There was one Canucks game not mentioned that deserves to be on the list of great Canucks moments; Roger Neilson waving a white towel on a stick, followed by Tiger Williams. I wasn't at that game but I was at the next game and EVERY one of the 16,000+ people there had a white towel to wave.

My boss gave me tickets to that game. Took my wife, she wasn’t much of a hockey until that night. I thanked him for years.
We were about 12 rows up from the Sony sign in the corner. When Bure picked up the puck and wheeled up the ice it was like watching the Roadrunner leave the Coyote behind.

The most talented player had it not been for so many injuries he would be more widely recognized as the greatest ever top 5 for sure. He would have scored so many Damn goals b4 the injuries came and they would of kept coming

remember went see Pavel Bure play back in 1998 my first NHL Game I Went too & it was awesome seeing him play made his 51 goals that year in NHL back in 1998 wish to see him more sadly retired cause of knee injury he still greatest the only one I called Russian rocket

I, personally, didn't like it when Bure wore #96. #10 suits him better, and I'm glad that he's finally getting his number raised to the rafters of the Rogers Arena (now, if only the damned lockout could end so we can see #10 raised to the rafters).

Pavel Barber2 fetisov was doing it a lot against Nhl teams in the 80s but Iam nit sure who first did it but the Euros are good at it haha

I don't think you can call it scouting when you pick the fastest skater on the Fedorov, Mogilny, Bure line.
+mandez19 Fedorov was faster top end speed than bure, a better pure skater though bure was more explosive and faster to get up to speed.
Disagree. Bure had a better top speed as well. Feds was very fast as well though, but 1994 Bure was the fastest player I've ever seen. McDavid, Gartner, prime Marian Gaborik I would also rank ahead of Fedorov.
@@PavelGaborik Bure is known as extremely explosive to accelerate which is gold compared to top end speed which is whatever. There are a lot of fast top end guys.
@@gunman462 Which is essentially why comparing top speed is useless on such a small ice surface. We typically only see small bursts.
FWIW though judging from those bursts - Bure was both more explosive and had the superior top speed AND agility to boot. As elite as Feds was, Bure was just that much better (skating wise)

Fedorov was the most complete of the 3 (Mogilny, Bure, Fedorov). Hell, Fedorov might be the most complete hockey player the game has ever seen.

My favorite player with Paul Kariya. Those two deserved Stanley Cups and both had carreers shortcut because of injuries.

I hope elias pettersson would become a star like that, the difference with him is he makes players around him that good, I can see brock scoring 50 + goals playing on his line
not taking anything away from guys like pettersson or brock but there was only ONE BURE, nothing will come close.
@@tpp27 I'd say it's arguable Elias Pettersson comes very close if not the same level as Bure, after watching him through his first half season. It's hard to compare because the Bure nostalgia is strong, but I think we'll be looking back at Petterssons early career the same way in years to come. Bure was different than any other player at the time which also adds to the excitement. For someone who grew up through the early 90's Canucks, Pettersson gets me just as pumped as I remember being with Bure.
His first game was televised on BCTV I think, I remember watching it - you didn't need to be in the stadium to feel the impact - it was that palpable. Never seen anything before or since...

I'm not debating that the media here isn't overwhelming, but they do usually have accurate information.

Hearing all the stuff they're saying about Bure is the same thing that's said about McDavid. Except Bure was that good with the piss poor hockey training that was available at the time and in the clutch and grab era vs McDavid who was set up for success who cries when he gets hooked. Wish Bure could still be playing today if his knees didnt ruin him.
