After time to play against both bots and real players, this video has opened my minds eye to the potential of otters. Knowing when to not even try to sell cards because you want them yourself. Formulating plans for your opponents to convince purchases. Being stingy and only returning warriors on my terms. I have become much more consistent and it has made me love otters even more. Thank you for this.
I'm always glad to see that the thumbnail messaging's readable. Each one lampoons different styles of propaganda, and they don't always translate well to YT thumbnails.
So, my personal strategy goes as follows: First of all I always use the exiles and partisans deck. I'm gunning for 3 specific cards: Propaganda Bureuo, Coffin Makers and Master Engravers. Thats in order of importance. Before getting those cards my strategy is as follows: Turn 1: Draw 3 like you said, putting my funds at 5 from prrotectionism. Turn 2+: Move my ball, place a trade post and then Draw 2 or craft with remaining funds. I prioritize bunny clearings since they can craft coffin makers and coins, then mouse for tea and master engravers and last fox, but it always ultimately depends. I'll also try to grab a sabo at some point, but it's not 100% necessary. Once I get one of the cards I want, I immediately set my price to 4 until I can craft it. The other 2 don't really impact my strategy afterwards, but once I get Propaganda Bureuo specifically I can start playing agressive. You mentioned buff suggestions and how useless export is, and I agree export is useless. The way I'd buff it is to either: 1. Have the funds gained equal the cost of the card instead of always being 1. Or 2. Have the funds go to commitments instead of payments. Spending 2 or 3 actions to export a card should always result in profit.
Oh and lowkey, getting paid is overrated. You should have 5 actions starting turn 2, which will usually be plenty. It's enough to move, place a trade post and either craft any item or draw 2 cards.
I feel like if you are known to never make good faith deals, gaslight, not consider how much your opponents are willing to pay, and behave like an extortionist while playing a faction entirely focused on trade, eventually nobody will trade with you. (and smart enough people never will to begin with). "Woodland alliance shouldn't ever buy from you, and if they do, you should never return them" is an amazing statement here. I wonder just how often this approach misses on a powerful alliance.
Propaganda Bureaus is often a win button by itself. If i ever get this card, i will set my card price to 4 and keep it there until I can craft it because getting a "free" recruit every turn is amazing and lets me poilce far more than I otherwise could.
Love your style and love your work! The otters can be quite hard to play with but a couple of good cards in hand can do a big difference early game. That's where they are the most fun!

This is the only faction I've managed to get 15 points in one turn lol. The stars had to align with how lucky my cards were but still!
Root has enormous tactical depth and replay value, but it's got a notorious learning curve. If you only have tabletop simulator, I recommend checking out the woodland warriors discord discord.com/invite/woodland-warriors-476234833572397056 and asking if anyone would be willing to teach you the basics. If you have the digital version on steam (frequently goes on sale), the in-game tutorial covers things very smoothly, but won't give you much of the metagame info. Following your advice really made me enjoy Otters more than I thought I would on paper, but I really need to practice on a harder AI - I heavily doubt any flesh and blood WA player would be stupid enough to give me 8 of their warriors (AI bought 4-cost Mercs on turns 2 and 3 and I held onto that crap all seven remaining minutes of that game.)
Bravo! You made it over the halfway point! If I want to wager a guess, I think you'll do Badger Knights, then Rats, and then Moles. Badgers first because they are pretty non-standard, then Moles last since your video series is called Gittin Gud and Moles don't need much advice in winning. And by then Frogs and Bats may drop right when you finish :D
5:26 i like being friendly early and then freezing all assets when it's least comfortable for my opponents (and most profitable for me) my main reasoning is that usually only otter funds are tricky to build tradeposts with, because you usually dont rule many clearings
That approach has a shelf-life though, as opponents will gradually cotton on that you're planning to renege. As for TPing with otter funds - You only need to rule one at a time tbf, though I'll grant that it can sometimes be difficult to rule the suit you WANT a TP in.
@@Nevakanezah_ they help if repeating stuff over and over some vids I am moving things in and out of the screen pretty consistently in the same manner but a lot of your scenes look to be using different movement. Might be less of an impact for you.

The digital implementation's AI is notoriously awful. I avoid it whenever I can.
