The drums on this album and song were so ahead of their time. I remember hearing this when i was 14 as a relatively new drummer and it completely changed my music trajectory.

Ok, you're clearly a proficient drummer and I have respect for that. You have a super clean and odd swivel technique that is interesting. You found a way that works best for you and I'm by no means criticizing. I just wanted to ask a serious question. At that point, is there a need for bass drums? Or is that more or less aesthetic? I'm also not very knowledgeable on triggers, but from my understanding, the sound is not coming from the drumhead, but the trigger pad under the pedal, or whatever. Therefore do you actually need a bass drum for practical purposes? Again, bad ass drummer for sure, I was just wondering.
Well, actually you would be surprised how well you can hear the bass drums. I use as much power as I can to hit the head in that tempo. Having a beater closer to the head doesn't mean that it has no hit. I won't prove anything. Come at gig and see by yourself.
For what purpose I use bass drums? I don't know, I think because I like to look at them... or wait.. nooo, because I play drums? 😂

I don't think I've seen anyone play like George does in video clip. There are a lot of nuances and small things that seen to be missing. It sounded like the kit was triggered and the double-bass sounded artificial. You're a great drummer but I'm just giving what I've seen and most people play it kinda robotic; not like a human. It would be nice to see people play with more beater swinging as opposed to 'tapping' even though it doesn't matter with triggers and at 254bpm it's bloody hard to get beater swing at these tempo's.
I think it's one of GK' best drumming pieces and was ahead of it's time. No disrespect intended. Very hard song to pull off. Still a great effort and conversely, a great effort all the same. Peace. :)
I never play exactly the same as original parts. Where is the fun in that? I would love to see George Kollias playing tight these days. Every drummer has his own style. I respect him very much, like the very first inspiration. But I'm not him and I don't give a shit about playing with full beater swing at 256bpm because it should be like that... who said that? Play tight, comfortable with yourself. That's all what I have to say about it. Peace and love:)
P.S. if I play with bigger beater swing, it's not death metal in sort of Nile thing. Because it's impossible to me. I would try that with Black Seeds of Vengeance by Derek Roddy, because it's not as fast as later hyper blast albums. (I really like Derek's drumming) :)

@@DanielNarSilRutkowski. You've kinda missed my point. These parts make the song otherwise you might as well just go mad as 'it doesn't matter.' Are you implying George isn't tight? He is like 44 so he ain't gonna be as the injuries and knee problems I think when you're his age you'll be unable to play like now but who knows. Derek is a pioneer of drumming and what I, Monarch came out alongside AOTW they really took drumming to a new level. It just nice to see people having power as you couldn't do it without triggers. It's kinda like heel-to and what John was saying: focus on the '2nd beat' rather than pinching out the notes. Same thing with singles it would be nice to have power rather than just 'tapping'. Triggers are great but they have made it whereby drummers use them too much and when playing without done have the power like Dave Lombardo had power and at 220bpm had incredible beater swing. But I was expecting this kinda thing as like drummers are beyond reproach. Everyone is always being obsequious to their 'hero's, I get nobody likes it.

Nobody is going to make from a person someone else. Please, it would be awesome to see you hitting hard at 256bpm. Having a hero on drums doesn't mean you have to be the same. I don't want to. I would play powerfully for example Gojira or Meshuggah. Because it doesn't mean I can't (I can see you haven't checked my other videos and you love to judge everyone, not playing by yourself). I just rather prefer a comfortable and healthy playing instead of making myself tired AF.. for what purpose? That's all I have to say. I'm not gonna change you, you're not going to change me. But you get defensive and don't even ask what nuances I am talking about. We'll just agree to move on and I won't reply both sparring us this purgatory for us both. I was very complimentary and just offered critiques just maybe in a brutal way but tried my best to be cool. You're in one of the best extreme metal bands on earth and playing drums I think is the hardest job as you don't play with HATE without top quality skills. You live and learn. :)
