- I'm back in Lytton and ready for round 2 of Police Quest II... and for some reason I decided to livestream this. But I finally made progress! Sonny and Keith are off on their mission! (Took 'em long enough!)
This is the edited version; the full unedited VOD can be found on my 2nd channel @SQHDump: • Police Quest II pt. 2 ...

If you missed my first attempt at playing this game, I unlisted the video, but you can still watch it here: ua-cam.com/video/86uDNdzzUn8/v-deo.html
Who’s your guest?
In this video? That would be PickledDog. He's a good friend and a moderator on the SQH Discord. The voice chat is open for Patreon supporters (and mods) whenever I stream. Ideally I would make it so that anyone could join but, you know... trolls.
If you can survive this ordeal of a game without the need for comforting and therapy you might be up for Codename Iceman next.
Well, I've still got PQ3 and PQ: Racist Season to get through before that.
This is one of my favourite games ^^ Can't wait to see you Dane your way through it!
Ah, Keith, the most useless and annoying partner ever. And then Sierra decided to double-down and create Cedric...
Keith does like his smoke breaks ...
So wait. The kingdom of Daventry canonically exists on the same planet as Lytton, California. And the events of King's Quest 4 are roughly concurrent with the events of Police Quest II. This implies that King's Quest III and IV roughly take place in the late 1980s, Rosella and Alexander were born in about 1970, and King's Quest I and II took place in the late 1960s? Huh well, the Adam West Batmobile cameo would line up with this timeline... And it would be era appropriate for King Graham to get extremely high and hallucinate that he rode a talking fish to a magical tower and turned a lion into a man (or did the snake turn into a horse? That game was weird).
Wow. Awesome worldbuilding. Like for real, this makes King's Quest so much better. Daventry makes a lot more sense as a bizarre anachronistic country, trapped centuries behind the rest of the world. Also the entire royal family is mentally ill and/or addicted to mind-altering substances, hence why they think they are fighting wizards and dragons. And of course, because Daventry is the weirdest place on earth, newspapers are obsessed with covering everything that happens in Daventry since it is so much weirder than any country or monarchy in our world. Or, alternatively, Graaham is not criminally insane, magic is real, and Officer Sonny Bonds is going to have to arrest an evil wizard using annoying realistic police procedure. Maybe the plot twist of this game will be that the Death Angel was a literal angel who got cast out of heaven and then he became a drug kingpin when the whole demon gig didn't pay the bills. So many awesome possibilities.
I'm all over this shit. This is what the gritty reboot of King's Quest should have been instead of the catastrophic shit pile that was Mask of Eternity.
4:10 If it makes your feel any better, as the game is notoriously pedantic about verbs and nouns, the game designers incorrectly called the two magazines you picked up for your pistol as ‘clips.’ So there’s that :-)
Yay for "Im so intelligant" game design!
Getting Brains himself in the copy protection thing. Nice.
As a kid playing a copied version, I would need to keep restarting the game until I saw Bains, the only character I recognized
*get note*
"You see a letter, not a note"
*get letter*
*look at letter*
"Thank you letter: a CARD from.."
Seems someone missed the memo...
Game parser always giving you the middle finger
They saw a letter, not a memo
Whoops, the playlist put this after the second part, I thought there wasn't a video of the second playthrough's beginning. Oh well, out of order I go. =P
At least the captain didn't name your duo "Wal-Mart."
Fun fact: Unlike previous games, you never have to lock your car door in this game. You can if you really want to, but no one is going to steal that !@#$ box.
14:40 Just like Disenchanted 🙂
Oh boy. Police Quest 2. The game i harassed my parents into getting a NEW COMPUTER FOR BECAUSE I THOUGHT IT REQUIRED A MOUSE. TBH, I was a dumb kid
Well, if you want Sonny's hands to detach from his body and levitate all over the shooting range, it does indeed require a mouse.
Wonder how many cars Sonny will crash?
Not a lot in this one, I would imagine, since the driving is automatic.
Oh wow, I'd forgotten just how awesome the OST for this was. I only ever played it once because I didn't like how fiddly it was, even by Sierra standards. I mean, seriously, who thought that gun-calibration BS was a good idea? And yet it doesn't even approach the sheer godawful tedium of PQ4.
One of the best MT-32 OSTs ever.
5:53 to 7:05
seems the webcam video and audio desyncs here..
That's my bad! I must have shuffled something around by accident.
I love this game but my word, that sights adjustment section is so tedious.
Real sights aren't even that big of a pain, especially for a handgun.
I've never held a real gun so I wouldn't know, but they never struck me as being this finicky.
@@Kattbirb I thought that was the case in reality. And you have to wonder, Sonny is a policeman, how on earth would he let his sights get that badly out of alignment?
Hi.
'sup.
I realize it’s probably (or certainly?) the worst Sierra franchise, even worse than LSL, but dammit I love Police Quest games with all of my heart and soul!!! Shoutout to Sonny Bones.
