  • Sonny and Keith are called to investigate a stolen vehicle. They then interrogate a jogger, and Keith gets right up in the face of Officer Gillespie (not actual name) like he wants to lay into him. We also get our first taste of TTS PQ2, which is how we'll be continuing this playthrough.
These are edited highlights from a livestream. The full VOD can be found on my 2nd channel ‪@SQHDump‬: • Police Quest II pt. 2 ...

The midi version of the music for this game is awesome. Especially when you are in the car driving with Keith.

I checked the official Sierra databases. And I can confirm. It is "Paté" as you hoped it was.
(Sadly if there is such a database I don't have access to it, but I also share the same desire now that you have pointed it out.)

In my mind it's definitely Paté now, and the Italian officer is also Gillespie. I can't unstick either in my head. 😂

Removing the manual driving was definitely a change for the better in PQ2, even though PQ1's accidents were hilarious. Also, at 9:00 we learn that Sonny drives a stick shift.

Am I the only one who genuinely liked driving around in PQ1? I enjoyed the freedom, and the (largely fabricated) sense that I might stumble onto a crime at any time.

@@jasonblalock4429 The open world design was pretty cool but the actual driving mechanics didn't do it justice.

4:40 Someone really needs to talk to Haines about his parking. Maybe if he didn't park so close he wouldn't need to shimmy out the passenger side of his patrol car.

For your question about was there a hint about needing to ask about a witness. From my understanding and also based on the text response to the command. I think they anticipated the player "asking whether there were any witnesses present who saw the kidnaping take place". But since as we know parser commands don't like too many words they accept the, perhaps overly simplified, command of "ask about witness". More so inquiring about whether there is one, than asking to speak to 'a witness'.
That's why the jailer's response is "Yes", followed by an explanation of how he saw this thing happen. If that makes sense?

Going a bit on a tangent. But this is one of the reasons I don't like a lot of the walkthroughs that are available. A lot of them are just which command prompt to write where. And sometimes you loose the flow story and/or meaning behind a scene because we're too busy following what the next command is.
I don't have any time for this. But I did want to write a point based walkthrough but where you can get the context of the action, and how you were supposed to know how to do a given action too. Personally I think that would be more satisfying and also somewhat a bit of a teaching moment rather than simply given just the answer. A bit like giving the math answer to someone who's learning, but then proceeding to explain HOW to get to the answer.

I try to pay attention to as much of the game as possible and only use the walkthrough at certain points - as in, I'll try my own ideas before consulting the solution. But I also have a variant of attention deficit disorder so it is hard for me to keep my focus on playing the game, keeping up with the chat, and being moderately entertaining at the same time.

Where I live someone made a book about SQ1 - 3 where they didn't give you the exact things to type in. They just told the story that Roger was going through. Very fun experience!

@@spacequesthistorian Howdy, oh my. I hope this didn't come across as some negative criticism. I've tried streaming, or even just recording play sessions and posting it afterwrds. The people who are able to play a game, live comment on it, and hold side conversations with chat, or start dumping some lore. All at the same time are absolute wizards to me.
I really only was trying to answer the questio you asked in the stream. "Was there a hint to know to ask about the witness?".
Hope it didn't come across wrong. Love your stuff, wish I was half as good as you to record videos. As soon as I turn on a camera it's like my personality disapears and I'm a drone reading a script. Or worse.
      Keep up the great work!
