As the F8C pilot, I can say that the Gladius, in highly skilled hands, can outmaneuver & kill an F8C. Once you got close in, it was hard to get a shot on-target. However, once I got you in my sights, it was over.
i do enjoy ship tours as i try to get others input on ships i may not have found on my own, or to help me determine what i'd like to save for. for example, one of the reasons why i went for the Scorpius in 3.24 was that there is a weapon rack that descends from the bottom of the ship for the pilot and the gunner.
Really love this review. Gladius was the first ship and fighter i upgraded to. Nice fighter. My preferred fighter of choice is my "Black Jacket" my F7A Hornet mk2
I find the opposite works for me, engaging as far as possibly since at max range I can still hit the hammer head but if I'm barrel rolling it's shots take too long to reach me and it never hits
@@STALVIET what are your settings for flying?? if you have any of the settings that slow you down enabled (G-safe, decoupled, proximity assist) it will be a lot harder to get and stay close... that said if you already have a tactic that works for you and takes down the HH then - o7 - all the better!
@Prophitman8 i fly decoupled without gsafe etc. Flying close does work it's just very nerve racking. Fun though! I find fighting at max weapons range is much more chill, I just hit a lazy corkscrew and the shots from the turrets are too slow to hit me even if they have high projectile speed weapons. Helps to have canons with this though since the weapon spread on repeaters is pretty big. The only time this hasn't worked for me is when some guy in AC equipped the top turret with mass drivers and those things are so fast they were able to snipe my little gladius out before I realized it.
Great fun flying the Gladius, my ship of choice for dogfighting. Arrow is fun too but the lack of a 2nd shield makes it that bit more fragile. Titan does more but its a chunkier target so more shots land on it. F8 as a heavy fighter is clearly anti small ship compared to Guardian being anti larger ship so the pvp testing you did checks out. The responsiveness is addicting, I find myself preferring the Gladius to any medium fighter.
The Gladius gets better as you do. Bigger, slower ships like the F8 do not. At a low level, the F8 easily wins, but at the highest levels, it will never beat a light fighter. That being said, the Talon is a better version of the Gladius in nearly every way for the PU (more HP, way better in atmo, stealth).
I like the gladius over the arrow despite being a bit more expensive. I have started building up my fighters. 2 gladius, 2 f7cmk2, sabre, sabre firebird and f8c.
Yes, it is the gold standard. Partly due to its importance in squadron 42, perhaps. It is usually one of the first if not very first to get adjustments, and standard pass updates. And its sound, wow. It sounds great. If you are good at the gladius, you can move into pretty much anything with a little practice.
Good review, just one nitpick. Its called the Guardian Q I. Queue Eye. Just the letters. Stands for Quantum Interdiction, since it has quantum interdiction capabilities. If it was the word "qi," it would be pronounced "Chee."
That's how I originally pronounced it in my review of it - then someone "corrected" me.. Reddit seems to be in disagreement as well. At this point - I'll just call it whatever I feel like when I say it :p
With this coming year, I have told myself I will include more smaller ships in my fleet. That way I may be more helpful to my new org. This is the ship that I’m going to start using and practice with for those occasions and maybe one day I will upgrade to the Buccaneers.
@@ForgeCoreGamingKeep in mind, the F7C has a crippling bug atm where you cannot mount a nose gimbal or turret, and you are stuck with just 2 size 4s. This has been an issue for a while so god knows when it will be fixed.
I bought it less than 24 hours ago and already going to melt it because I didn't know about it. So yeah lmao. I'm thinking about just getting a Gladius but it requires such good piloting to be useful in an org squadron. Annnnnd I don't have a lot of confidence in my skills right now. I don't even have pedals yet. Any S/M fighter you can recommend that can compensate piloting skill for sheer firepower?
Should have picked the bucaneer instead of the titan. The titan is not a fighter it's a courier ship. The drake bucaneer is probably the best light fighter, at least in the hands of a good pilot.
Its a light fighter coming from any other space game you dont want to get hit and your job is to stay as close to your target as possible stinging it with your weapons as you go. however ´this comes at the price that you wont be able to outgun anyone other then maybe other light fighters this also means that ships like the Guardian and f8c have to be passed which can be both as intimidating as it is dangerous once youre in though youre glued to their butt as they absolutely cant outturn or outrun you they either nav and expose their hull for a few very precious seconds or get spanked by you like a bride on wedding eve
Gladius is a well designed consistent light fighter. It will be difficult to see another ship that actually brings the same impact as this ship. I do hope a new light fighter comes out to compete against this beast.
@ForgeCoreGaming The profile is slick and the nose on profile is super difficult to hit in a duel. Btw the Panthers are overall a better option than the Attritions. It allows you to apply damage more consistently over greater distances. This allows you to chip away at bigger ships like the Hammerhead from a safe distance. It also allows you to hit more nimble ships like other light fighters. The paper stats really don't show the true reality when it comes to this fighter.
Oh I know it. I tested with both, though not shown in the video.. I just do the attrition comparison of stats so that we can keep everything set to a specific standard.
I can’t bring myself to buy and keep any fighters, I’m too poor of a pilot to survive combat without at least multiple medium shields, and I value versatility/range too much. That being said the Gladius has always been one of the best looking ones in the gane
I've owned the Gladius a few times, over the past few years, there was a time when i would bounce back and forth between it and the Arrow with some degree of regularity. It's a capable, agile, fun to fly light fighter that knows its job and if you're even a middling combat pilot (like i am) it does it well. The thing that has kept it from being a permanent addition to my little fleet though is, and i am sure i am in the minority on this, i just think it's ugly. I don't know why, i can't point to any specific thing about its appearance that ruins it for me, but i look at it, and i make that face the cheerleaders made at me in high school... and i own a Reliant Tana... with REAL money... it doesn't make any sense... Would i recommend the Gladius to an aspiring combat pilot who is looking for a dedicated light fighter that will help them grown their skills? Absolutely, but will i ever plant my virtual butt in the pilot's seat again? Probably not.
I get it. I also think the Gladius is ugly even though it's a great ship. I just can't stand how the bottom part with the little fins is. It's not even connected to the body of the craft in a way that makes sense. It's just sort of hanging off of the bottom for no real reason.
Same performance but one has an emp that only works at point blank range when the shields are down since they nerfed distortion damage to shields so what would that do here?
Dude f8 will lose to light fighters. F8, ares, vanguards and guardians are meant to go against large ships. Edit: with what I said of course there needs to be training. In hands of new pilots light fighters will lose. But to experienced pilots those ships won't stand a chance 1 vs 1.
@mikegilkey check out vergils list because he sources pro players that have won recent tournaments. Avengers a good pilot but he puts a lot of personal agenda into his tier lists, and greatly exaggerates the value of interceptor tuning and racing ships
