I learned a couple of things about these guitars. Silvertone was struggling so a company out of Texas bought Silvertone 4 years ago or so . These guitars sat in a warehouse for 10 years. The new owners are selling them dirt cheep and releasing new models in 2025.
Joe, Got’ta thank you for this one! Overlooked not being a Les Paul, Strat or Tele but this is one fun guitar! Isn’t that what guitars are for “ fun” that’s why we call it “play”. Unique sound in a really good way and this guitar is SUPER comfortable to play. Thanks for the heads up on the guitar and unbelievable price! Danelectro made their own guitars and branded them Silvertone for Sears and Airline for Montgomery Ward catalogue sales. Let’s go Mets!😊
Don't beat yourself up about the set screws on the knobs, you've increased your guitar knowledge and that's how we do it, brother. This guitar is unusual, way cool and funky, I like it! Reminds me of my friend's Danelectro. Works for country too probably. Good score man.
The “ funky material “ on the original, Danelectro, Silvertone models was Masonite. Kudos to you for admitting an error! A sign of integrity on your channel. I was so impressed I pulled the trigger on this one. Wife said a while ago “ another guitar and I’m out’ta here!” She’s still here.😢
Nice guitar! If both knobs turn at the same time, try raising the volume knob a bit so it isn't touching the tone control knob. That should solve your problem.
Good stuff, Joe. Love these old Silvertones and Danos (including the recent reissues, which are great quality) - definitely the cure for the common Strat!
Great demo. You've demonstrated what to expect out of the box.The pups sound kinda weird. I believe an experienced player like yourself can tweak the amp to get a great sound inside the boundaries you referenced not being humbuckers...One other issue..Anytime I hear Silvertone, I flashback to the 1960's and think of BAD set-up. Action so high your fingers will bleed! 😮😊....At age 12, I had no idea string height and necks could be adjusted! 1966 was a different world! 😊 One last thought...If you have a Helix, see what it sounds like. A Helix can make any guitar sound great IMO.
I'm glad it's now a "keeper" and Pro Audio Star is back in everyone's good graces. The headstock did remind me of a Danelectro, makes sense that they made it. Enjoy your new guitar!
That's cool. "Failed the IQ test", lol. I like the sound of those lipstick pups. I bought a demo Ibanez Fireman 300 sold as a demo due to "Scratches on the middle pickup." Turns out the scratches were only in the protective plastic over the pickup. The guitar was actually in perfect shape.
I had a Silvertone guitar( black with glitter flakes..lol), back in the 60's, and the case had the amplifier built in to it. The body was like pressed chipboard and the action was abysmal. I took up drums instead. Today we are in the Golden Age of affordable quality instruments. Thanks.
Ordered mine a couple days ago and it was on our porch this morning. They are $199 now with a 5% discount code bringing it down to $190. Mine was packed the same as yours,, but nothing fell off when unpacking and very close to being in tune Plastic still on the pick guard in next to new condition. The only thing I don't like is the truss rod adjuster, guessing you have to remove the neck?. . .
I have an old Silvertone Bass (for twenty years) and it's a great guitar. BTW, a 'Peak' is the top of a cliff, and 'Peek' is what you were going for. (-:
Looks like a cool guitar. Something to keep an eye out for in the future. I only know a few chords and I have 3 guitars so I'm already in the dog house with the boss 😂😂
Stacked knobs should turn independently. If they don't, then the knobs may be set at the wrong height. (They are very common in older professional audio and video equipment.) I suppose exceedingly crappy pots could have that problem. I've just never seen it, and I repaired problably 20,000+ video and audio recorders/players.

Thanks for the info!
Great video. I have a '64 Sivertone 1442 I received as a gift in 1968. It's original, sounds great and I would never give it up.

Too funny! That's what I couldn't recall- Masonite! Thanks brother.
I’ve got an original 1958 U1 Brown with the coke bottle headstock. The old lipstick pickup sounds pretty awesome. Cool to see a reissue of the U1 🎸💪
Nice guitar!

Got it brother! Thanks.
@@AJgeartalk You're very welcome!

That guitar is just plain cool. It just has it's own vibe. Nice! Thanks for the video.

Very cool guitar! Works great for its intended purpose!
You go Joe!💥👍

Yes Lily. Bummer.
That does sound great!!!!!!
It sounds great, and an awesome deal. I want something with lipstick pickups as well. I've been looking at 12 strings
Get that early 60's 12 string ring! Yes.
@@AJgeartalk absolutely it would be so cool!

That should never stop you! Be well brother.
Jimmy Page used a Dan Electro with lipstick pickups on Kashmir
The stacked knobs are called Concentric knobs. String through design is new and a nice surprise. Most have an aluminum nut not plastic.
Yes- concentric knobs= stacked knobs. Nut is PPS = plastic.
Joe, What amp do you usually use? Preferences? Pedals?
I don't use pedals. Currently using a Blackstar Core ID 20 amp.

Pots are fine now. Just needed tightening of the screws.
It looks nice and light weight also like the mechanics of the headstock. Gretsch should still be better.
What model Gretsch are you referring to?
@@AJgeartalk The one you got for $200 I forget the name.
@@bluwng Oh the G2215-P90. That and the Silvertone are completely different animals. Target different genres of music.
Those are known as lipstick pickups.
Yes- i mentioned that on the unboxing video.
It would be brighter if you strum back from the neck!
I'm obviously not "too bright".
