Today I'm going to be installing Minecraft 1.19 Wild update on my new Macbook Air with Apple M1 Processor a lot of you guys wanted to see me run Minecraft natively on the M1 Mac so thanks to the new 1.19 update e now have native support!
We're going to be putting it through its paces and seeing how it runs and well as try Fabric and Sodium to try and get as much FPS Boost as we can and also try running ManyMC which can allow us to run older Minecraft versions natively on the Macbook Air rather than through Rosseta.

The mac I'm using in this video is a Late 2020 Macbook Air with a 8 Core Apple M1, 8GB RAM and a 512GB SSD

I also have an M1 Mac but with 16 GB. They seem to have similar performances, but I can run more background tasks and still get the same performance.
Yeah the 8GB of RAM has never let me down. For more intense tasks I'm sure it can swap with the SSD space

Minecraft automatically only allocates 2GB ram to your game, this can be edited on the launcher
im planning on getting a M1 MBA because they're like around 500$ on best buy (discount)
I'm planning soon to get an M1 iMac with the 8-core GPU and 16GB RAM, and after watching this video I'm definitely getting it seeing this outstanding performance!
It will even have more power than the MacBook Air in this video!

Good call on the 16gb of RAM. If you ever plan to play the huge modpacks that'll show up in the future for this version of minecraft or later, you'll need 8 GB RAM alone for the client, and 6 GB RAM for your server leaving you 2 GB left over for your OS.
@The universe hates me Sounds like you don't know the advantage of separating the server from the client, even if you are the only player. Minecraft is not properly multithreaded, so when you run a localhost server on your own machine, you help it take better advantage of multiple CPU cores. You'll see this advice repeated all throughout Reddit and various Discord servers.
@The universe hates me Hey, unused RAM is wasted RAM. If you got the RAM might as well use it. The exception being not to go over 8 GB per Minecraft process because Java garbage collection doesn't handle that well for Minecraft.
Paid hosting is great if you do want to play with friends, especially if you don't all play to play at the same time.
I wouldn't pay for hosting if it was just for me though. I've tried it in a server hosted in my local city, and I noticed lag after ever block I broke, same as just about every other multiplayer server. It's not unbearable, but I'd prefer it wasn't there. And for that reason, I just like hosting my own servers locally.

And it's actually more of a "functioning machine" by using 8 GB + 6 GB of RAM than only using 8 GB of RAM for a single Minecraft process. I've always had more performance issues running single-player survival than running a multiplayer localhost server.
You may not have ever noticed performance issues if unless you've tried playing the big 1.12.2 "expert mode" modpacks as well as GT New Horizons from 1.7.10. The modpacks I play force the player to go heavy into automation, which, once you scale up your operations, can be quite taxing on your CPU, having your server set up to run on its own CPU core separate from your game client helps those automations have some CPU usage headroom because the client process is assigned to a different CPU core.

U can also enable show fps from settings:
Go to video settings
Then to "other"
And enable show fps

@@-Ganesh1 try installing sodium extras and in the extras sections it has the show fps and show coordinates as well
I find that ironically, if you quickly spam f3 twice, you can see the FPS without f3 hogging all the performance as much. I guess it takes a while to update and shows performance before clicking f3? idk
Persistent Mapping is a very important feature of Sodium, not exactly optimal that the MacBook doesn't support it.

turn the "Reduce Debug Info" to remove unnecessary text in f3 so it doesnt tank fps as much

if there's no difference between rosetta it means that it is not well optimised to run on m1 Macs yet. Jus because its native doesn't mean its well optimised. Iam sure if they tried they could double the performance
While there is no other way to see fps without using external applications in native Minecraft, the first second or so is the actual framerate you are getting when clicking F3. This menu tanks the fps in half so if you ever test these macs again, I'd recommend you found an external alternative which is more accurate.
Can even get Minecraft to run on a PowerPC CPU. A company named Raptor Computing even sells new ones with decent performance, and can even use AMD GPUs with PCIE. They are rather expensive compared to x86 alternatives though.
Also good luck with software support lol, however it's much better on Linux than a proprietary OS (not that Windiows has actively maintained PowerPC version) since most software is open source and can just be compiled to work

You have to try Lunar Client i'm getting more than 600 fps in a bedwars game with a ressource pack, 26 render distance (1.8.9) on a MacBook Air M1 16GB ram (and I can even play with good shaders like Sildur Vibrants High)
How do you get sharers on lunar client?

use the bluetooth mouse. i would suggest buying the microsoft bluetooth mouse since its the cheapest ive seen for a bluetooth mouse

You can also turn down the FOV from Normal (70) to 60. It will improve quite performance. It will make your FOV zoomed in but it will slightly improve performance. Mac is an lightweight software than Windows 10, and Windows 10 has more background processes than MacOS which affects performance.
Yeah I tried that in my last video, does take a bit of getting used to!

I recommend you try the IObit driver booster.
if u remember last time I said I got around 5 or 3 fps in Minecraft, even in hypixel!
so it was recommended to me by my friend and what it does is that it installed some of the drivers that they were missing during the windows installation.
if so, you could give it a try and see how much fps u could get.
Can anyone tell me for the M1 Air (which does not have a fan) how long can you play Minecraft continuously with high FPS, before the thermal throttling takes place and cuts power to the CPU, dropping your FPS? Is it 5 minutes, 10 minutes, an hour, how long? How much is the drop in FPS? Also, how long does the performance cut last before the FPS ramp up again? I would love to see a formal test on this, or at least some first-hand experience. Thanks!
i have an m1 air and frame drops havent really happened that often
It doesn't have an fps drop
Thermal throttling only drops performance by like 2% - 5%, it won't matter
if ur playing servers maybe it will be bad playing super long
You could also try using f11 instead of the full screen button.

2:38 I actually think that you're getting an FPS boost from using an external monitor because your external monitor is only 1080p, a dramatically lower resolution than your built in display.

I am super confused. I did everything correctly, I made sure I have the correct Java Installer, I downloaded the correct versions of Sodium and Iris, but whenever I load Sodium, my game crashes. I use the 2020 M1 MacBook Air, with 16 GB of ram. Can you assist?

hey notrodan theres a modpack called fabulously optimized (its on curseforge), and it has sodium and a lot of other optimization mods, try what out
I think the apple laptops are starting to actually be powerful
I recommend using CM-Pack launcher for low end PCs because if you are struggling with fps then I recommend it
Salwyrr Launcher is better than cm pack in fps
@@glove_7084 no lol cmpack is 100x better and salwyrr has useless mods so salwyrr takes a bite of ur computer and you get low fps and cmpack only has useful mods and not uselesss mods so it boosts your performance without taking a bite of your computer.

Download them only from curseforge and modrinth, the other sites might have viruses.

It can always be worse. I have a Windows 10 Acer aspire ZC 700G it has a garbage Celeron and Intel Hd Graphics N3000 series
And I can run deco craft, and some other mods perf fine. so you should be pretty good if you get optifine or sodium

My nitro 5 with same specs except its an i5 with 3050 and the fps cant hit 200+ fps
I have an ideaqpad gaming 3 15ACH6 (around 1100$) and i get around the same fps as this M1 which costs like 800$ and now I feel like I've been scammed but tbh my fps is wayy more stable than the M1
