51:46 When they zoom out you get to see that for such an awesome (and hilarious) run, Hoishin had almost no audience. Even when he was running, you could see that there was no one sitting in the front row of the gallery. About ten minutes later as pidgezero comes in to set up for Super Mario RPG, you can see like six times as many people in the the gallery behind her, the front row practically full. It's a shame, honestly.
The momentus journey of an unlucky boy from childhood to adulthood... All completely broken in 43 minutes. Also Dragon Quest V is a really good game, go play it.
koolkdd Some runs use the glitch. FF9 let's you skip FMVs with the disc tray open, the problem is it can easily crash the game so nobody runs with FMV skips because it would come down to getting lucky with a hardware trick.
It's usually not allowed to do that in speedruns as it's on the same level as just using a GameShark. Almost every disc game has something you could break with hardware manipulation, such as forcing zero encounters while you run to the next town by keeping the disc tray open. The old Zelda and Mario games on n64 allow you to noclip if you lift up one side of the cartridge while you are playing. It's all very cheap and ruins the effort that goes into planning and executing tricks in speedruns. The community for this game must be very small and full of people who really don't care.
You know, I won't lie. I was SALTY AS FUCK when he read my snipe early... Even saltier when it cost me the snipe. Still am salty over that. >.> Though, it was a great run and I had a lot of fun. Not many runs are worth me bidding on anything outside of an incentive.
Maybe you should not snipe before the very end then. I don't see how you should somehow have control over when your donation is read other than when you make it (same as everyone else). Perhaps instead of blaming others for your own shortcomings, you might look at what happened and why (you made a donation too early for your own liking and any saltiness over it is on you) and learn from it. Otherwise you'll just repeat that mistake later in life and keep blaming others for things they are not responsible for.
What a productive comment :O This run is only possible on Japanese because this version was only released on Japanese. It's not really much of an RPG speedrun as it is the utter breaking of an RPG, and between the commentary and the obvious use of glitches the language really makes no difference in your enjoyment factor of the run.
i Just wanted to understand at least a little bit to know exactly where they are at what moment, i'm already french so it's a little bit hard to understand what they are saying. but i never said it was because it's a bad run. i respect runners, they remember so much things i couldn't
I see. Well, coming to a video complaining about a run being done in a language comes off that way. There is also the French Restream of this marathon if you're interested, and you can find the VOD of the restream of this run here: www.twitch.tv/videos/144816503
you know, if i watch in english it's maybe (i don't know but i'm pretty sure) because i don't want to watch it in french? btw i watched the run and for me it wasn't fun. too many unfunny glitches. I know it's a speedrun and it have to be done fast. But i enjoyed the 10hour long runs more than this one.
"Harder for me to understand" "Oh, well here's a French version if you'd like." "Oh I don't want to watch it in French, and you should have known that." Just no pleasing you I suppose. I try to help you here since, hey, a lot of people don't know about the French restream, and I get "I didn't want that anyway." Oh well.

Dragon Quest needs more love :(
I like this Hoishin guy
Me too. Very humble and talented runner!
GG Hoishin! You deserved a bigger audience for this cool glitch run. Now I want to try this game out on the original console myself :V
Hoishin is amazing.

i think this is the first game ive seen where opening the disc tray is used as a skip

Huh... I know Debora was added as a marriage option in the DS version but I had always assumed she at least existed in the other versions.

Ol' blueshirt's laugh is annoying AF.
