  • Three phase balanced system or load and Three phase unbalanced system or load are the two most commonly used concepts in power system. But, what do we really mean by a balanced or unbalanced 3 phase system? What are the parameters that decide whether a system is balanced or unbalanced? So, if you want to get the details and the basics of a 3 phase balanced and unbalanced system, watch the video.

    Hi sir, really liked your video. I'm not an electrician I am a DIY guy. I was wondering if it is possible to connect 2 or more ac power sources ( alternators or generators for example) in parallel, in order to obtain higher wattage whilst maintaining same voltage. For example, if the source produce 220 each. I want to keep the 220 but with high load capabilities.

      Yes that is possible and done i many places, the problem is you have to synchronize them meaning that L1 L2 and L3 have to be "in fase" when connected or it will not be possible.

    Hello sir, there is one question ,What will happen if we connect two AC source of same frequency and magnitude but uneqaul voltage (paralle and series in both case). say, one of 25 kv & another of 27 KV source to 25 KV load. What will be the effect on voltge, Power & current of the circuit as well as to the another 25 KV load? Previously i am working on the same ckt the 25 kv source if from Xmer and another source i am talking about is an induction motor which is connected parallely to Xmer as well as to the other loads. Whenever we require a mechanical energy we used it as a motor but at time of stoping we have used a regenerative braking system, at that time induction motor generates emf is more then 25 KV. One more thing i want to add on we have connected a braking resistors to motor ckt so that the generated power can be dissipated. But what if we didn't connect the braking resistors or if the resistors is blolwn out. What will be the reaction in ckt. If possible please make a video on this or send the explanation to my mail id pushpakbhangale303@gmail.com

    Hello gaurav I have a basic question. In a.c. star connection three coil will form a 3phase. We all know that we are making phase neutral in a sane wire for All three wire carrying electrons which always flow towards the phase direction my question is why not all three phases electron going towards neutral direction and meet. Why it is going always opposite side of neutral. What is the reason behind this.

    • @GauravJ
      @GauravJ  5 років тому

      Phase and neutral wires are different. To complete the circuit current needs a return path and hence it flows through the neutral.

    I am new to electrical things. As seen in the video, on balanced load at any degree the current is same. But in unbalanced load current varies in 3 phases and neutral is needed.
    what is the function of neutral in unbalanced load and what happens if neutral fails?
    Why neutral is not needed in balanced load and what happens if neutral fails?

    • @GauravJ
      @GauravJ  6 років тому +1

      In balanced system neutral is not needed because the sum of return currents is ZERO (watch video from 2.10 mins), but in case of unbalanced load the sum of return currents is not zero and hence there will be some return current for which neutral is needed. And if neutral fails, the machines start heating and this will reduce the overall life of machine.

    Hello sir,Thank you for your great videos, I’v a refrigeration compressor works and then stops for less than a minute and when measured the current for 3 phases, I noticed L2 giving a very high current "3 times the normal value" and L1 and L2 normal, what is expected to occur this problem, Even though there is a failure phase sequence in the circuit.

    Thank you for good explanation of balanced 3 phase distribution. Have question, Using 3 phase 208 volt Y power at our church. 3-phase to large HVAC equipment, Using individual phase legs and neutral to provide 120 volts to utility outlets in building. When circuit breaker is shut of on one of the 208 volt legs we see a small voltage across the switched off leg and neutral. Interested to know what causes small voltage appearance and if it is drawing any power. When measuring small voltage, ~20 t0 40 volts, there is no load across wires. Any explanation will be appreciated.

    • @GauravJ

      It may be because of the capacitive charge which is present in the transmission line/cable. You can use disconnector with earth switch, using earth switch you can ground the charge.
