I live close to that parkway bridge , it is so nice up here. People take care of each other unlike anywhere else. Your name is your reputation. A handshake or a nod is as good as any contract . Jesus keep us safe and continue to bless the people of Allegheny County. ❤️❤️❤️🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

Very interesting. I had no idea exactly how the Blue Ridge Parkway came to fruition. I understood it gave much needed employment.
It had a beautiful outcome no matter what the beginning. Enjoyment for thousands.

The grist mills along the Parkway and elsewhere did NOT make flour. They ground corn into corn meal for local farmers and residents Flour is made from wheat.

What a wonderful video!! I love those mountains & the Blue Ridge Parkway!! I dream of one day moving back to those mountains. As the saying goes, "You can take the girl from the mountains but you can't take the mountains from the girl!"

A company my father worked for, Blythe Brother's Construction Co., built much of the parkway and as a child he would take me up to the mountains to watch the big machinery work.

The house we lived in on 231 marker, was sold to my Mom and Dad by a woman whose Father actually came from Italy to do stone work on the Parkway.
