When I was there I asked about the old calendar if it was for sale because it was from my dad's hometown, there was a good sandwich shop across the street that must have closed because of covid

I love this! Really takes me back! I lived in an old town in the south growing up and we had a similar store/gas station near our house and loved to walk down there with my sisters or dad and get candy from the glass case and a cold coca cola in a glass bottle! My parents didn't buy us 6 kids soda, so it was a special treat! And those old toys! ❤Thanks for these videos. Always so comforting watching both of you

I love these old General Stores. You two always go to the neatest places. Love the Signage. I always like hearing the creaks in the wooden floors in these places too. Makes you know that you are in an old store. I enjoyed seeing the candy and toys that they offered. Always brings back good memories of growing up. Thank you so much for making these videos showing places that I will most likely never get to see. I have never cared for Moon Pies, but you made me want a NEHI orange soda yet once again! been there several times when I visit from Florida. Stay in my sister in laws cabin up in devils' mountain. Very cool store kids love the candy.

We just got home from PF, Cherokee and Bryson City yesterday....rode GSMRR and got to watch all the elk in Cherokee....the air is so fresh up there...💜😊💚

Hello! So I happened upon your channel tonight and I am so glad! You 2 are so sweet! I live about 45 miles away from Valle Crucis ! Next time you all are in Western NC you should hit the Blue Ridge Parkway and ride up to Mt Mitchell or if you are this way in June you could go to the very very small town of Bakersville which is nestled right underneath the Roan Mountain! In June, when all the rhododendron are blooming it’s absolutely gorgeous and the Appalachian trail goes thru there as well! Bakersville has a rhododendron festival one weekend in the month of June to celebrate the beautiful rhododendron! Love your videos and I’m looking forward to seeing more of you all! God bless ❤

When you went to burnsville nc , should have turned down pensacola rd and drop to sharp to road..Can't imagine my dad's life as a kid up in these mountains. My eyes water just thinking about how it must have been. As hard as it was, I have to say it's a better life than today.

Waving at ya Big T, hope you are feeling better. I did enjoyed the drive and quiet places of Western NC. That Mast store seemed huge and I wanted a tasting of all the goodness held inside. Different items stirred my memories back to childhood. I earned 25 cents a week for my allowance which went a long way in the 50s. My collie dog and I would ride my bike about four miles to the country store to just buy a bottle drink and some candy. Then we’d ride back, him running along side me heading home. Thank you for your unwavering love and caring for your viewers. God bless and keep you and special prayers for Big T.

I love the Mast General Store. My husband and I have been to all of them except for Roanoke and Greenville. They have the best mark downs on clothing and shoes.😊

I love this store I stopped at the one in Asheville. My kids love stores like this especially the small little towns we stopped in NC. If you guys love small town vibes you need to check out Hendersonville, NC such a beautiful small little town.

Spring Hope hasn't had a general store since the owner of the corner one passed away in '18.
Mast General Store reminds me of Rabbithash General Store in Rabbithash, KY. It's an old timing store filled with interesting items of times gone by and general supplies. It's not as large as Mast, not even close, but the reason I bring up Rabbithash is because of its unusual mayor. To qualify for mayor of this wonderful small town, you must have fur. Yes, I said that right, fur. The mayor of Rabbithash is a dog. Every election year the dogs of the town run for the distinction of that fine office. This is not a novelty, the pouch that is elected is officially mayor. If you guys moved to Rabbithash, only Big T would qualify. You may run into the mayor at the general store hanging out on the porch or inside by the stove. The dogs of the town are treated much like people, just hanging out were they please. It's always a nice place to visit and if you're lucky, you may get the opportunity to pet the mayor.

I am a native born and raised Hillbilly ( which no one can call me because of political correctness, I am an Appalachian American to then ) but there is only ONE the others are wannabes.
I used to go in the 70s. The whole valley cruses has been ruined and destroyed.
You be surprised what the North South East West say but I don’t want to be anything but myself .
Like your videos , but, why so old. No leaves even on the trees. Ours are all out in Michigan.
We both work full time Mark - sometimes our vids run several weeks behind. Enjoy the trees!!
Cracker Barrel copied Mast-or is it the other way around?? I think we all know…..
Not what it used to be.. the area has been overrun by outsiders, development has destroyed the watuaga river. , The staff doesn't know the history of the area or the store, the low wooden Bridges are gone, dirt roads gone and open views with no houses. Watch where the lillies bloom. It was filmed in the store but the staff have never heard of it. The stove is still there. I never go now.. the new city people ruin it.
The staff are about as country as Joe Biden
