You sound like me but maybe 15 years ago at the start of my investing journey..I have recently decided to end this journey because the market is now over saturated. Looks like we live in the same area B@@ley etc and I could have only dream of the discounts you have been finding. The luckiest I have ever been was the local Tesco and 75% off, approximately 10 to 15 years ago I cleared a complete section of 30 to 40 sets just after Xmas, wow those where the days.
@AndrewSmith-pt7rj hi. Thanks for watching. Yes, many people are getting out of Lego investing now. I got into it because I can find good deals. I never knew they retired and increased in value until I started doing it properly. My first Lego sets I got and sold at a profit but sold them before they actually retired. If I'd know I'd have kept for longer, I kick myself now for not researching properly. Anyway, it's too late now. So long as you sell individually and not a bulk lot, people only pay 50% if you're lucky. I can get good deals, but only small quantities 2/3 max 7/8, so your 30 sets were good. Things like Shane doing interviews and news articles saying Lego better than gold doesn't help the community but should still be OK. More and more getting out some start and don't realise what is involved the space etc. Then get out. I have a small channel now to help other investors run the data @investinbricks only few subs but most probably find boring but hopefully full of info for investors. Thanks for commenting and watching take care.
Hi guys, i just googled this..... How long does it take for LEGOs to gain value? Wait for the right moment Of course, it's almost mandatory to wait until your set goes out of production, at which point its value will start to rise. Most people sell their LEGO investments 2 or 3 years after retirement, but this time can vary depending on your earning expectations and your willingness to wait longer.
Hi Ian yes like I said in the video it depends on what strategy you want to adopt. Short, med or long. If you go long and buy lots of huge UCS sets say £400+ you have the risk Lego re make that set then the value of your set has gone. I'm more in the middle to longer I will watch and if it gets to a price i'm happy with then I'll sell 1 maybe 2 but keep some incase it rises again. Unfortunately like we said would be no good for you in the Philippines rice or lego no contest for a Filipino. Thanks for the comment. Take care Ian.

You are getting crazy discounts on a lot of your sets. Did I get it right, you got the horntail at 80% off? That would mean you paid 9GBP? I never heard of such discounts. I don't live in Great Britain so I don't know the situation there, but Ian's bricks in his videos shows detailed buying information and he surely never mentioned anything like that
Thanks for the comment. I watch Ians bricks also. He does get discounts like that sometimes but ian buys his mostly from Lego directly with GWP etc. I buy from discount shops I can't get the huge sets like Ian buys like the Atari he just bought but i can buy the smaller sets. Your maths is correct i bought the HHT for £9 each. Some of the Avatar etc I got even cheaper. Thats why I don't have 10-20 of each set because iI can only buy what is left or I would of bought as many of the HHT as i could. Thanks for commenting do you have a large collection and are more experienced than me. Like i said on the video subscriber's may know more than me. Thanks
@@VickersCouple Thanks for your answer, I am a casual Lego seller (started about 8 years ago). Those buying prices really surprised me. If you ever feel like making a video of buying such a cheap set at a discount I would love watching it.
@@dimosscratch2797 sometimes Ian gets things cheaper than I can get them. Interested to know your selling strategy? Sorry for the blunt start there, it’s just that I’ve been doing this for over 10 years now and there is definitely a decline currently!! There has been a massive increase in people doing this since Covid, lots trying to do the “quick flip” so the secondary markets are currently saturated with sets!! Now I understand there is “retirement pops” in sets and there is lots of great discounts out there at the moment … but that’s my point, retailers are struggling to sell sets and dropping the prices massively due to the current situation!! Anyway, not trying to be negative as there is still money to be made and I wish you guys all the best … but I bring it back to my next question regards selling … just intrigued to know how you plan to sell sets? Take care!!
Hi. Thanks for watching our vlog. I'm not sure as the best way of doing this as I'm new to the selling part. Because of the new laws i have a plan to sell just before the threshold before end of March that will be financial year 24 then again q4. On eBay. As i plan to sell in stages so for instance 4 sets sell one now then q4 then next year hopefully the later sets will make a little extra profit with the longer hold time. So I'm all legal. As some of my sets i got at a good discount then maybe if i do a car boot or something like that I could sell some of the smaller sets for kids etc. but will have to see. ATM I enjoy the buying and watching the value rise haven't got to the selling yet not looking forward to my brickeconomy list going backwards. Like I said in the video I'm not a collector or builder its just being able to buy at a good price hold and sell for a profit for me. So far my collection is doing ok looking at Ebay sold listings as long as i get the sa I'll be happ. Any advice from someone more experienced would be helpful. I watch all the main UA-cam channels but everyone keeps a little back unless they are selling a book or patronage etc. thanks for commenting.
