Guys this one of your best episodes ever. I could have listened to another hour with him. Can you please get him back for a second episode once the book has been out for a while? Loved this episode so much. What a joy. ❤
This podcast/channel is shaping up to be really fantastic! Such a great episode. On that note I couldn’t agree less about not excepting another Like A Prayer and all the corporate ageist stuff. Daft Punk reunite to produce a great Madonna masterpiece.
The amazing thing the author revealed here about his journey into Madonna’s songwriting artistry is that she’s had her hand directly and collaboratively in 500 songs-released and unreleased. This puts her second only to Bob Dylan’s 600-song output. And Madonna could very well surpass Dylan if she continues to write, co-write/ produce songs well into the future. Fascinating interview and likely a collectible book for Madonna stans. ❤😊
@@graphiquejack That maybe the case…but they are estimates until someone, like what this author of the Madonna Songbook did, actually verifies the number of songs that Prince wrote, co-wrote in his name or under a pen name. But as a biased Madonna fan, I find many more of her songs memorable and resonant than that of Prince.
Great interview as usual! I would really like to read his book. I read Mary Gabriel's A Rebel Life and this would be a perfect companion, of sorts, to that book as Giulio's book focuses on just the music itself. It's unavailable on Amazon and the link to the Italian site doesn't seem to allow purchasing it. Is there any other way to get it? Or an idea of when it *may* be available on Amazon (wildly preferred so as not have to ship it all the way from Italy lol).
Wouldn’t the artist/songwriters only be submitting a copy to the Library of Congress? Surely those aren’t the only copies in existence. That would be foolish of any artist or their team not to to keep their own archive somewhere.
I just started watching but as you talk about the possible scenarios of what is happening, I'd like to have a theory about reasons why she's not giving any interviews. We've not heard her talk since pre-hospitalisation. Or have I missed something? I'd love to hear some interview.
In the interlude of "I don't search I find" on the Celebration Tour there is a fragment of an interview she gave in the Confessions era where they ask her what's the worst thing about being famous... and she replied "having to answer stupid questions." ..I think after so many years she just finds giving interviews silly, I genuinely believe that she no longer cares what the public thinks of her...

Prince may well have much more than that, no? As the author stated, he has tons of stuff in a vault that next to none even knows about.

So it's Encyclopedia Madonnica except it's her songs that are the focus...

It's 75 euros
"Who should I idolize?" He needed a idol to worship and asked for recommendation and was suggested Madonna. That's bizarre
