I recently had the opportunity to see Diane Coffee in a small venue in San Diego. I thought the venue would sell out but instead there was only about 50 people there. I was embarrassed. I couldn’t believe a band like this could go so unnoticed. I brought my gf there to see what I consider my current favorite band. And I was nervous how the energy would be with such a small crowd! Well, I was totally wrong to be so. The energy they gave was as if the crowd was 10,000 strong, and the crowd gave it back. It was a great show. I truly don’t understand how these guys aren’t huge, (or at least have a substantial cult following). I hope people discover them while they’re still touring. Sean is a songwriter and performer that should be celebrated.
Saw them in Louisville at a small little venue. It was so intimate and amazing. Afterwards Shaun came out sweating and talked to all of us. 🥰 this has been a few years ago now, but I will always cherish that show!
I was at that show! It was a shame there was not a lot of people, especially because a few years earlier they played in San Diego and it was packed! He was the nicest dude too. Talked to him before and after the show and had drinks with him. Class act dude and super down to Earth.
i think him singing 'Green' might be one of the reasons we evolved as a species. God would feel proud knowing he made this person, the Universe expressing itself through him belting the tune out, watching its own glory reflected back at it. unreal.
I gotta say, this may be my favorite TinyDesk Concert of all time (tied with MacMiller). Such an amazing and heartfelt performance! I've listened to it hundreds of times and it never gets old, just keeps getting better with each year that passes. Everything is perfectly executed and so authentic. Love Shaun Fleming, and the added strings makes it even more beautiful. All their live sessions are excellent. Give them a listen, they don't miss.
I've been listening to it for about three years, recently I changed accounts on UA-cam music and ended up messing up my playlists. Today I left it on random and the audio of this concert dropped. I can't go out anymore, skip music. Just enjoy one of Npr's best concerts.
Every time I feel happy or sad, I return to this concert. Have probably watched it, like 400 times. I genuinely think this has been one of his most intimate and outstanding live performances. Love Shaun. So much raw talent and beautiful art in a person.
Not gunna lie, over the past week or so I've probably heard this at least a dozen times all the way through. I don't know why the albums don't come anywhere near to being this good, and I don't know how I'd never heard of Shaun Fleming before because I've seen I think actually everything on his imdb, but honestly this is the best Tiny Desk out there. And Diane Coffee should really consider doing a live album because it wouldn't even be fair how amazing that album would be.
Not only is it a beautiful performance, with rich vocals and great musical accompaniment, I think the best part of the act for me, is the way that the band seem so appreciative and down to earth. It's endearing to see it, and makes me appreciate them more as a result.
I could literally write a short book on the phenomenal that was this performance. I don't even like stuff like this, and I am just...stunned. How is this group not ridiculously famous?
Watched this band at the house of blues in Chicago, great experience, so much power in their music, the singer has a very special aura and connects with people instantly.
This sounds a million times better than the recorded versions of these songs. I tried each of Diane Coffee's albums, but they lacked the feeling of passion from this performance.
randomly stumbled here, almost skipped it, so glad I didn't. Reminds me a lot of E.L.O. in ways, which is god damn amazing to hear anything contemporary that reminds me of E.L.O.
As an old timer, I would have never in a million years thought I would like this. But it's absolutely contagious! Just a great vocal range... superb. I play a RainSong guitar myself, this was great to hear one in this live setting. Why haven't these folks been on the radio or something? This music is modern with the best of the edgy old school.
This is my third time watching this video and each time it goes by too quickly. His style of singing reminds me of Rocky Horror Picture Show for some odd reason, haha. I absolutely loved this Tiny Desk concert.
NPR Tiny Desk and KEXP *_NEED_* to take their sessions and sell then to us!!! LOL. Both NPR and KEXP have GREAT recording and mixing! There are at least 20 sessions from both places I'd beg to buy!!!
ask a reasonable question, just take a look,,reverbnation, itunes, etc, scores of venues wherein people can sell their act. the music industry is completely saturated with talent. everyone and their grandmother has a band. for every band playing there are probably two more that are more accomplished, seasoned, etc,, looking for a gig. surely you dont have an argument about this subject? jesus
Heard Diane Coffee for the first time last week at The Mohawk in Austin, Texas and fell in love instantly. Bought the album and actually used the CD player in my car for the first time in 5 years.
I was working as an intern at a small, independent radio station in St Louis. I was editing a spot to advertise for Diane Coffee -- I've never heard of them. I was browsing their music to use a snippet for their upcoming show. Heard the date, it was the same night. I bought tickets on a whim, went, and fell in love with their sound. Best live performance I've ever seen. I was drawn in from the start.
I often feel that that's the point. consider the difference in their outfits in conjunction with their instruments. while the sound of violins and cellos are undoubtedly beautiful the way in which this video is orchaestrated commands a kind of musical authority based solely om the ideology of the instruments. now I'm not saying I don't like the music but the presentation is worth examining. also damn, that last song is fucking amazing
Sounds a lot like Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and Spiders From Mars record. Mayflower is very in the groove with Star. And the passion of Green reminds me of Rock N Roll Suicide. I love this stuff!!!!!!!
Saw them sometime in November in Santa Cruz and no words can be used to describe their performance. I fell in love. Going to see them again in February in SF.
OMG love at first listen I cant get enought of it all, his passion, the chorus, the instruments is all beyond lovelly. Going to look for his album everywhere I go I need it
Dear dying coffee, this is how I discovered your band, live. and I fell in love immediately with your voice, with the music and the lyrics. Then I went to Tidal and listened to your albums, the three of them. I was really disappointed by the lack of feelings in the albums and the lack of clarity. And also the effects that are applied on your voice in the albums are really really bad. I really hope that you would do another version of your albums. You deserve better , you are amazing.
i ll say it in broken english if i could * i would change this picture this filmstill * i wondered and wondered why they have such less views * ... * in it i have heard bowie * mick jagger * pavlovs dog * bob dylan! * rocky horror ... but its new * its young * its so beautiful * powerful and genious and so it makes me new * young * beautiful * powerful & genious ... Thank you * guys :)
I just want Diane Coffee to make a short film using these songs, this way as the music to tell a story! OMG I would watch it a million times lol. If you need an idealist call me :) love your artistry!!
God, I love finding the real good music between the pockets of popular music… makes me feel alive.

this guys vocal control is insane
It’s 2024 and I still come to listen to this since release.
I gotta say, this may be my favorite TinyDesk Concert of all time (tied with MacMiller). Such an amazing and heartfelt performance! I was just looking at best ranked tiny desk concerts and this never was mentioned. He killed it here
I've been listening to it for about three years, recently I changed accounts on UA-cam music and ended up messing up my playlists. Today I left it on random and the audio of this concert dropped. I can't go out anymore, skip music. Just enjoy one of Npr's best concerts.

Dang, I am amazed how he went from gasping for air to singing that beautifully on Green. What a great singer!
The PASSION in that last song near the ending deserves a fucking Grammy or some shit.
Not gunna lie, over the past week or so I've probably heard this at least a dozen times all the way through. I'll always come back to this performance 🥺🔥

I could literally write a short book on the phenomenal that was this performance. I don't even like stuff like this, and I am just...stunned. How is this group not ridiculously famous?
Because their production is really bad
Watched this band at the house of blues in Chicago, great experience, so much power in their music, the singer has a very special aura and connects with people instantly.
This sounds so much better than the studio recordings! All that talent is wasted! Use the mans voice please!
'Green' hits hard every time I watch this.
Jesus, I freaking wept on “Green”. How could you not?
As an old timer, I would have never in a million years thought I would like this. But it's absolutely contagious! Just a great vocal range... superb. I play a RainSong guitar myself, this was great to hear one in this live setting. Why haven't these folks been on the radio or something? This music is modern with the best of the edgy old school.
I was a bit skeptical at first, but this band is great!
+headcheeez same
This performance left my in chills. Fleming is amazing pure talent
This is my third time watching this video and each time it goes by too quickly. His style of singing reminds me of Rocky Horror Picture Show for some odd reason, haha. I absolutely loved this Tiny Desk concert.
+Aleesa Baakko he's cited RHPS as an influence! Listen to his episode of the podcast, Comedy Bang! Bang!
+Gewürzt Grillen Thanks for the info! I'll have to check out the podcast.
+Aleesa Baakko Cuando un artista es mejor en acústico que en sus grabaciones... es que algo no funciona!! Esta canción es infinitamente mejor que su video clip
+Aleesa Baakko It gets better everytime you watch it. Awesome!

Smiling Dog try audiotree live. They do exactly this and splitting the profits with the performers.
Share your thoughts on this...Npr & Kexp are producing some great recordings....more please :)
please don’t give them any ideas. gotta love that this shit is free
I absolutely love everything about this. Talk about a talented band with a phenomenal lead singer! That final song, Green, left me gasping in tears.
How they are not huge by now is beyond me.
+Josh Christensen perhaps it is because there are thousands of other bands just as talented etc and just not enough freakin time nor room
Name the thousand bands.
ask a reasonable question, just take a look,,reverbnation, itunes, etc, scores of venues wherein people can sell their act. the music industry is completely saturated with talent. everyone and their grandmother has a band. for every band playing there are probably two more that are more accomplished, seasoned, etc,, looking for a gig. surely you dont have an argument about this subject? jesus
+jimmy smith It was a rhetorical thought, I wasn't looking for a literal answer.
So since you didn't name the bands we'll call it a draw? This is the NPR version of an internet flame war. Have a good day.
Heard Diane Coffee for the first time last week at The Mohawk in Austin, Texas and fell in love instantly. Bought the album and actually used the CD player in my car for the first time in 5 years.
they KILLED green I love them so much
I was working as an intern at a small, independent radio station in St Louis. I was editing a spot to advertise for Diane Coffee -- I've never heard of them. oh my... such passion... yes, I need this
I can’t get enough of Diane Coffee!
This may be my 8th time watching this and, honestly, I can't get enough.
This version of Green here sounds better then the album version
way better
I totally agree.
I was very disappointed by the album version after listening to this
i agree, after hearing his beautiful voice here it's hard to hear it so distorted on the album version.
Same with the Gallant Tiny Desk
This blows the studio versions out of the water!
I'll always come back here when I need moodbosters. This is one of the best performances 😊❤
That last song, it's incredible! One of the best performances I've ever seen! So so good!
What a Great Musical group, ....Haven't heard something so fresh, artistic and entertaining for a long time!
Opening reminds me of "Here there and everywhere." I have listened to this so many times. One of my very favorite Tiny Desk concerts.
Since it hasn't been mentioned yet, the guy on keys, Caleb Hickman, has actually already been on tiny desk back in 2013 with the band Night Beds
killer voice and I always respect some orchestral action
I often feel that that's the point. consider the difference in their outfits in conjunction with their instruments. while the sound of violins and cellos are undoubtedly beautiful the way in which this video is orchaestrated commands a kind of musical authority based solely om the ideology of the instruments. now I'm not saying I don't like the music but the presentation is worth examining. also damn, that last song is fucking amazing
+MonikerAddict huuijgg
+MonikerAddict Dude. Chills. That last song.
WOW!!!!!!!!!
Best Tiny Desk Performance EVER BY FAR!
No....I'm not crying.........I just yawned really hard bro!!!
From the sound on the Album and this recording yes! Tiny Desk really showed this guys potential.
This is like if mercury and bowie had a love child. 🙏🏼
Actually spot on
Sounds a lot like Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and Spiders From Mars record. Mayflower is very in the groove with Star. And the passion of Green reminds me of Rock N Roll Suicide. I love this stuff!!!!!!!
Shaun Fleming is an amazing talent, and this wonderful performance certainly showcases that talent. Thank you, once again, NPR.
Saw them sometime in November in Santa Cruz and no words can be used to describe their performance. I fell in love. Going to see them again in February in SF.
First heard him on Comedy Bang Bang where he performed Not That Easy and I've been hooked ever since.
Same!!!!!
Yeah Same here.
Bloomington Indiana shines through this video! Thanks Ben, Glen, Drake and Caleb!
The future has potential...
Refreshingly entertaining...can't wait to see them unchained...
OMG love at first listen I cant get enought of it all, his passion, the chorus, the instruments is all beyond lovelly. Going to look for his album everywhere I go I need it
I'm out of breath just watching this guy perform. What a talented group.
14:45 so goddamn powerful!! Amazing
I'm reminded of the vibe or Queen and Bowie.... I like very much
the lead singer shaun fleming is so dynamic and feminine on stage, he reminds me of freddie mercury
@@talkshowhost3512 defo was thinking the same
Not what I was expecting at all but so much better. Definitely gained a fan here.
I keep coming back to this. His voice is unbelievable
Saw these guys open up for Of Montreal a month ago. LITCHRALY, the best $20 Ive spent all year.
Dude please never put effects on your vocals ever ever again
This human is absolutely fabulous 👌🏼In love
This sounds so early Bowie... Loving it.
The most underrated artist. He should be bigger than what he is.
This is so beautiful. This is what music is about.
OMG! I hear Beatles, Simon & Garfunkel, Bowie, Bread, Queen, The Who, The Stones and I could go on and on and on!!! Talent at its purest form!
I absolutely love this band, and the greatest part is they live in my home town! So, I can honestly say they are great people too! Much respect!
Loved watching how taken he is by the music. Amazing!
Dude can seriously sing.
Shaun is beyond underrated and I wish he would go on tour for My Friend Fish, I wanna groove to this album again
Dear dying coffee, this is how I discovered your band, live. and I fell in love immediately with your voice, with the music and the lyrics. The opening is angelic. I saw them when they came by San Diego and they were amazing!
I wish I could 'Like' this video again.
Genius, fascinating and incredibly entertaining! I can't stop watching this performance. I want more!!!!!
Saw them last night at The Hideout in Chicago. Stellar performance. So much fun.

This is so freaking good. I have no other words for it
So much better on here than on their Album, less effects taking from his raw voice.
I would like this a thousand times if I could.
this is just awesome - that voice gives me goosebumps every time i hear it. since one month every day. gosh
Soo beautiful. Voice of an angel
So wonderfully amazing
Diane coffee remind me ‘Hedwig’ for some reason. Vox recorded awesomely. Lovely gigs.
... I'm at a loss for words. Keep on keeping on, bud! You give me goosebumps!
Diane Coffee and Aldus Harding are doing it right. Just awesome stuff
Brilliant vocalist and stage performer...excellent musicians...
Go see these guys live. Be amazed. Go home with new favorite album.
my ears were blessed
I just discovered Diane Coffee! This is great!
It's easy to miss just how good the backup vocals and harmonies are from the bassist, guitarist and keyboard player.
seeing this beautiful human being live this Wednesday in Cambridge MA
That song gets better with time.
I just want Diane Coffee to make a short film using these songs, this way as the music to tell a story! OMG I would watch it a million times lol. If you need an idealist call me :) love your artistry!!
I’m still listening to this lol !!!
I love this so so much, every time I listen to it. Just beautiful.
Pure. Simple. Beautiful.
Way better than the album. I'd buy if they put it on iTunes. Hint.
I have no words but i think i really liked that
