You MUST choose a spot close to a power outlet to plug in the docking station so that lets out closets for most people. Our only discrete option was our laundry room (not ideal with people passing buy to get to the garage). With the measurements for height we just drilled to see if it went through drywall or hit a stud. No stud in our case and the V7 is almost 11 lbs, so we had to use drywall plugs and screws to hold the weight (none supplied). Video made it easy. You just have to find the right place near an outlet and see if you hit a stud or not - if you're lucky to hit a stud no plugs required of course.
This. Use drywall plugs or stud detector, and you will need electricity there. I had to install a new cable from the lightbulb in front of my closet as I had no other nearby electricity sources (without destroying the wall). Video is misleading, although the same amount of effort would be required for any other vacuum.
Are you actually complaining about having to mount a charger where there’s an electric plug? That’s silly.
I agree on choosing a spot close to the power outlet. The power cord was relatively short. Also rather than using the length suggest 47.5 inches, try approximating the length by using the vacuum before installing the charging station on the wall.
@@DanyAlejandro they were supplied. In a small cardboard container with blue tape
You're literally complaining that it's hard to mount something to a wall lmao.
Brilliant!! easy to to follow the instructions. Thank you.
Alternatively, for those who prefer not making holes on the wall due to living in apartments and etc, I suggest using two adhesive hooks. It worked perfectly fine for me!
Do you have a specific brand that you would recommend/ you’re using? I was thinking of using adhesive hooks but am scared it wouldn’t be strong enough to hold it
Same 😮
You could also buy a piece of furniture to fix it too. One of those mudroom benches comes to mind

I didnt get the screws & my V8 origin extra has a 3rd attachment that doesnt have anywhere to sit on the dock 😔
Can anyone tell me what drill bit size I should use for the wall? Does not say it anywhere on the instructions?
This is why I watch the customer made videos
Use a 7/32" bit to drill the holes, then hammer in the gray things. You're welcome.
Thanks so much - all I wanted to know was how to get the plastic things into the wall!
Yup only reason I looked for this video was to find the hole size lol
That’s exactly what I came here for. Thanks!

Hi Neo, thanks for getting in touch. You could simply plug the charger directly into a standard wall socket and charge your machine that way and store it in place of your preference.
What size screws should I get (I am using wood)
This is a pain to install. You should include the wall fixings. The screw just goes through the mount, you also should have left a gap to run the cable through the top too! (And a long charging cable)

In a narrow white box taped into a channel on the back of the wall hanger.

Is it supposed to hang without touching the floor?
The bottom of our v15 hangs about 15cm above the floor, have i put the docking station too high?
what i was about to ask. Apparently it is answered below to comment by
Howard K. Watkins 1 year ago. It needs to dangle above the floor, otherwise you would have trouble docking it in/out of the station.
Great ty saved me going all the way through instructions which has about 5 languages
What about the other 2 attachments that come with the V8? Where do those go on the docking station? I only saw 2 snapped in.
Diana Demoulias, the docking station for the V8™ machine has storage space for 2 tools. You can also keep one attachment on the vacuum. If you're interested in other storage options, feel free to reach out to our support team directly, and we'd be happy to check what's available for you.

Are screws included? I ordered one a week ago and no screws in the box.
Thanks for the question. What's in the package may vary by machine variant and market. To confirm we'd recommend either contacting the Dyson helpline in your country directly, using a live chat service on the Dyson website if available, or sending us a DM via Facebook, Instagram or Twitter/X: @ AskDyson.
If there are no screws included with your dock, look for strong wall anchors suitable for your wall type. If you take the dock into your local hardware store and mention your wall type they may be able to advise you on what's most suitable.
Hey - why no link to the manual? Surely, it's in digital format on your website and you could have linked to it?

Hi Vaishnavi, The recommended height is advised in the instruction leaflet that came with the machine. Please kindly refer to that.
Why the fuck do you not just answer the question? Just say: 47 inches and be done with it. All your answers on this video are completely useless @@dyson
Thanks. Snapping in that plug is so poorly described in the directions they give you. Almost feels like your going to break something. Even seeing your video it took a lot of thumb forcing to get it to snap in place.
Hi there, just ordered my Dyson V8, I have question would you recommend keeping the power switched on full time? I'm just wondering whether this would be detrimental to the life of the battery or not.
The way in which you choose to charge a cordless machine is entirely down to you.
Our V8 cordless machines do not need to be in the wall docking station for charging. You can charge the machine wherever it's convenient, much like a mobile phone.
The electronics in our hand held and charger systems ensure that leaving it on charge, even after the battery is full, is perfectly fine. Once fully charged, the charger reverts to a standby mode, so there is no more charging attempted on the battery.
Lithium-Ion technology does carry the advantage over traditional Ni-Cad batteries in that it does not suffer from “memory issues” relating to partial usage followed by a full re-charge. The V8 can be used for as little or long as liked without fear of affecting the battery life.
Thank you for your response to my query very much appreciated! 👍🏽👍🏽

Hi there, we're sorry for the issue you are having with your machine. Please send us a private message so that we can assist you with your machine.
Does the mount need to be screwed into studs?
Valerie Jackson, This'll depend on your wall type. We recommend using the appropriate mounting hardware for your wall type to ensure it's mounted securely.
Is the height on the leaflet a minimum height so it doesn't bottom out?
IE, is there any reason I can't mount it higher?
I'm sure you've already done this, but mine has additional slack on the wire at the recommended height. You could go higher.
For the 47 1/4” Mounting height, does the sweeper bar rest on floor or does bracket support full weight? 2:04
What’s the exact measurement?
Aprox. 12" and 5" across for the dock itself.
My plug does not want to go into the docking station and click into place.
Is the charger using power if plugged in but not connected to vac. ?
I don't think so!
Mine keeps getting lose no matter how big I go with the plugs....so I'm going to use a bigger screw

It’s been many years since you could DM on UA-cam.
I don’t have the original instructions and a Google search for the PDF brought me here. Thankfully, I was able to zoom into the instructions someone used in this video but the measurements should be front and center. Instead you focus on the easy and obvious parts while glossing right over drilling holes, inserting anchors, etc and act like it’s as simple as turning a couple screws. You oversimplified the instructional video to the point that it is almost worthless. Do better!
Thanks a ton, for this demo,
How many inches ??????
All of them
Dont you have to find studs in the wall in order to hang up the mount?
Not if you use wall anchors because a stud is not located where you want to hang the base.
This should be in the written instructions. It isn't.
You have to turn your captions on and then select your language.
My battery won’t hold a charge

I am really not a fan of drilling the wall because of a vacuum cleaner.. :(
Get something that pees standing up
The dummies in this comment thread are my new favorite thing
Why does the instruction booklet specially state that the bottom hole of the wall bracket is to be exactly 47 1/4 inches above the floor? This leaves the vacuum pole with the floor attachment dangling in the air and I am not seeing a reason for that. Three phone calls to the Dyson Help Line did not have an answer, but I did get the installation video, which was of help in terms of the "wiring" of the charging plug on the wall bracket. However, it provided no information on why 47 1/4 inches between the floor and the lower screw hole on the wall bracket. Thank you.
It is so that this allows enough space to be able to place the machine including the wand and motorhead still attached onto the docking station.
If it didn’t dangle off the floor a bit, how would you be able angle the vacuum to push it up into the charger or pull it down out of the charger?
And now tell me Dyson engineers, HOW TO REMOVE THE CHARGER FROM A DOCKING STATION WITHOUT POSSIBILITY TO BRAKE THE CHARGER ??? … it’s crazy how small things like this that can actually damage this product are actually being missed for this much money
Please contact Dyson support in your region if you need assistance removing the charger from the dock or have damaged your charger.
@@dyson I have exactly the same problem, the charger needs to be REMOVED from the docking station, but it appears this is not possible without breaking the docking station. A bit tricky to put it IN, but almost impossible to take it out.

Because You Have To Drill Holes
do u get screws in the box?
Hi Alex,
We don't include mounting screws in the box. The reason for this is that there is no one 'universal fit'-type screw that would be suitable for all potential wall surfaces that customers might have in their homes. Using the wrong type could cause damage, so instead we recommend that owners select screws suitable for the type of wall or surface they want to mount the dock on. Local hardware stores should be able to offer advice if you're not sure. Please don't hesitate to reach back out if we can ever assist with anything else. Please note that we also do include our country specific helpline number on all of our machines for direct support with a Dyson expert, in real time.
Best wishes.
Dyson no you don’t which is greedy of dyson can’t give you a couple of screws to put in bracket luckily I always have a wee tub of them
I got the v8 animal+ at Costco and it did come with two screws and also the plastic ones that your supposed to use with them. It was taped into the back of the dock- it took me a minute to notice they were in there
I got screws taped to the back of the docking unit. You need to determine if those are right for your situation. If I don’t have a stud, I will need something better than what they provided because I know it will eventually fall off with usage.
@@dyson Screw you for the lame excuse!
My V8 did not come with screws. What screws should I use ?
Hi there, unfortunately we cannot advise which screws to use, as this will depend on the wall type and wall thickness. This is also why screws are not included with the product.
Our V8 came with a set of two screws and plastic drywall anchors, they were in a narrow white box taped into a channel on the back of the wall hanger - almost missed them. The screws also were unnecessarily long - not of problem provided they don't hit wiring in the wall.
Thanks .. for the money you pay for this thing, you think they could supply instructions that earthlings could understand.
Hi there! Which country are you located in? We have full guides and manuals online for each model.
@@dyson Why online, why not with the vacuum. For this price you could include a couple pieces of paper.
Great question. In an effort to reduce our footprint and for the convenience of our owners we made the decision as an organization to add a QR code that allows the consumer to download a copy to their smart devices.
@@dyson Do you think the whole world is actually on the internet. What about a majority of seniors who can barely operate a cell phone do you think there pounding away at a keyboard all day. Tell them in 50 words or less what a QR code is and see if it registers that they need to do something with their phone other that answer it. Like you worry about foot print. How small are the footprints of the children who make dyson vacuum cleaners in Malaysia.
Don't buy this hoover to hoover your house. you will be frustrated, very frustrated.
1) the 'wall holster' only holds 3 tools it comes with 6! so the other three have to lay around or Dyson support recommend “putting them in a draw…” but why make half a wall holder in the first place?
2) it takes 2 days to hoover your house, the charge lasts for less than 10 minutes!!! good luck speed cleaning your house in that time - you can have a 5 hour rest though whilst you wait for it to recharge.
3) the 'exhaust; blows air out near the handle... so often if used with the short fitting the exhaust blows all the dust away before you get to it!!!
4) Dyson support said "get a toothbrush and a tooth pick" to clean the various filters - yes really - otherwise it doesn't pick anything up. so get a good toothbrush as you'll need to clean the hoover inside and out at LEAST every month... washing the filter… and drying it, more time to relax and think about hoovering tomorrow.
5) to extend charging - get another battery - Dyson support advise to "remove the 3 screws holding the battery in place... and get another battery" - so you get double the hoovering time, double the charge time too (10 hours) I have done this and now the battery falls out every time I use it... I guess it's another 'feature' feels a bit unsafe though having a heavy battery falling out every time you pick it up... not sure about Health and Safety - but it was recommended by Dyson...
So buy this for hoovering crumbs off the table and little things - not a whole house hoover - it is underperforming, under powered and over priced.
A very expensive disappointment.
