Fair play on this for sure, I like Jeff Nippard's view on this too where he goes 1x Bench, 1.5x Squat & 2x Deadlift.

If you set up a pull up bar in the middle of a shopping centre, I reckon 2/100 will be able to do 1 pullup and none more than 5, people already tried public bench and pushups and the results were crazy, people who go to the gym regularly are already miles head of people who don't lift at all.

At my gym we have student who are new to lifting all the time, I can tell you for sure that almost all of them can't bench even close to bw to start with. I see some guys struggle with 30kg. As for squats, very few people actually squat at the gym (a large uni gym) so it is very feasible that 95% of the population can't do this either as an extremely small % of the worlds population has ever tried squatting with any sort of weight.

Looks like every person has a different 5% of the population, given that they don't agree on the factor for the exercises. Seen 1,5x squat often and 2x dealift just as well, among other combinations. It's also interesting that the top 5% of the population numbers are also the same that are named by trainers to be good goals for everyone. Perhaps this implies that only 5% of the population are ok strength. Which maybe isn't a surprise, some people are strong but not accustomed to the exercises in question technically, and most people are just very untrained in strength.
I recall also seeing numbers like 1,5x bench, 2x squat and 2,5x deadlift for athletes.
