It is actually not stainless steel. Stainless would be austhentic steel. Tesla changes that into martensitic steel. That is extremely hard and still flexible but not stainless any more.
Two things I discovered that no one told me about: 1-There is another button to the right of the horn to turn on the lower front camera. 2-In the back doors at the bottom is a cable to open each door in case of a power failure--just lift up the little plastic cover. Fun to watch others feeling like kids again. Thx for sharing.
iIf you get the truck wrapped you loose one of the best features. I can take my CyberTruck and park it anywhere in a Walmart parking lot. They cannot door ding it or cart scratch it. I even had a guy hit me in his old dodge truck while parking next to me. I got out surly expecting some scratches. NOTHING! He lost a little chrome off his bumper but that was it.
Literally a major reasonwhy I got it. I tell people now that my vehicle is Florida proof. Cause here, people don’t care about your property. They will open the doors and slam your car without even thinking twice.
Don't use steel wool on stainless steel. The wool is not stainless and can embed in the stainless and then the wool can rust. Use a brillo pad instead. Im enjoying my CyberBeast, congrats on getting yours.

I never thought I'd want one a yr ago but since learning how exceptional it is, I want. But I never buy first couple yrs of any new model from any MFG. (never bought new either) Later versions will be significantly better. Living near and loving the High Sierras--I would seriously off road it frequently.
John, I think the "rust" is from the contaminants in the egvironment not the SS (304 austinitic likely). Frequently the SS is passivated to remove the contaminants (frequently iron). I believe you were talking about Aluminum where the Al oxide (rust) is nonpermiable to O2. Also, you are quite right about wrapping and problems with differential O2 cells formed.
My brother-in-law told me people gawk at his Cybertruck everywhere he goes. I rode with him a couple of hundred miles around central Utah in August, through a bunch of small towns. No one gave a second look, even when we were stopped in parking lots. As far as being a refrigerator, my wife says it's a trashcan. My sister calls it a toaster.
There is a simple torx screw to remove the rear view mirror. Or keep it like what I did, and put a carplay and additional rear camera on it. I placed the camera at the top of the tonneau so I can see items in the bed.
Congratulations! I'm jealous. If the wrap stopped oxygen rust would not be possible without oxygen (oxidization is rust) that is literally how paint prevents rust. That being said the rust they're talking about is surface contamination that can also affect a wrap. Our wrap currently has tiny rust spots on it but the wrap is not rusting..
Dr. know it all - REARVIEW mirror in the USA, for now is a Requirement, even though in the Cybertruck , its NOT needed at all. the Side mirrors are also NOT needed for SAFE operation.
Congrats, are you going to wrap it with a Dr Know it all special? With all the attention you will be getting it will be a great way to identify your truck from any other 😊
The brake rotors are made of iron so they will create iron dust along with all the other vehicles on the road. The rust is likely this iron dust rusting. The entire door, inner and outer, the frame the doors sit in and the outer skin is all made of stainless steel. You grandkids should be able to drive it.
Nice and Congrats!🎉 Your wife is cute and ha ha she will eventually get the hang of the Steer by Wire. You have a great family and I am happy for you as it is very exciting getting a new Tesla, let alone a new Cybertruck! We love ours and I am very curious if you happen to get the firetruck sounding horn on yours that others and ours also have from deliveries end of Sept 2024.
Nice review! And nice seeing you and the family...we got the Cybertruck dual motor. I thought you mentioned a power boost option? If so, how to see/upgrade? How much $/credit to get. Amount of boost? TY!! Steve (My wife and I met you and your lovely wife at the X Takeover).BTW, we choose matte black wrap on the bottom 3/4's and gloss black on the top 1/4.
It is actually not stainless steel. Tesla changes that from austhenitic - the stainless steel you know - to martensitic which is not stainless but extremly hard and durable. Your kitchen sink maybe austhenitic steel but is more likely a much softer and more durable chrome vanadium steel alloy.
3:34 "it ... looks like a refrigerator ...", hmmm, I'm thinking Jim Croce's "I fell in love with a Roller Derby Queen" might be a great Cybertruck theme song.
Anyone else named their Tesla with an Iain M. Banks ship name? My model Y is 'Prosthetic Conscience'. 'Someone Else's Problem' is a good one too, though I think if I got a Cybertruck I'd go for 'So Much For Subtlety'.
Hilarious video. Thanks. /DCS By the way, there is now an aftermarket video replacement for the rear view mirror, which is quite flexible. I highly recommend the addition, even though there is also one on the screen.
Congratulations on the CT. My condolences on having to drive like a muggle. Be patient, Elon and the AI Team will soon cast the spell to enchant the CT.
Great video. Before you get FSD, can you do a video on Autopilot and comment on how it works? Is it a cut-down version of FSD, e.g. does it do distance-follow with vision?
Since I started making money on cryptocurrency I followed some of your guidelines to avoid lost I invested $7,000 ethereum and it went as far for me to recover some of 32k in my opinion I think crypto is the future
I'm not an expert (though I do have a Master of Science in Engineering) but it seems to me any place that water can get to cause rust, oxygen can reach even more easily.
CONGRATS on your new creature from the Culture! Fret not about the expense, for what is money of value, after all, but to bring you some enjoyment of the fruit of your labors?
What we know as rust on steel is a form of oxidation. When stainless steel oxidizes the it produces chromium oxide in nanoseconds. The creation of the passive layer (rust protection) is way to fast to allow iron oxide rust to form. However poorly done welding or possibly heat coloring the stainless can allow iron oxide aka rust. The question is salt. This maybe a nothing burger or it maybe essential. Online material is not consistent. If it were my truck I would protect it if I lived in areas where roads are salted or maybe near a beach. If rust starts to from sanding it back to expose the shiny stainless will restore the protection. Don't try this at home. Not a body repair expert. Follow this advice at your own risk.,
Tesla rep said the non foundation does not qualify for the tax credit at the moment. Tesla website also confirmed so. Maybe they are still working with the IRS?
The CT is stainless steel and doesn’t rust. When transported it can get iron on it, then the iron rusts. Washes off with barkeepers friend.
Congrats 👏
I better stock up on BF. There will a shortage soon. 😅
Wrong, stainless steel can rust and corrode ... use the Google machine.

In this vid and elsewhere they are confusing *staining* with corrosion, two very different things.
