YESSIR! I just got my non-Foundation CT invitation Friday, Oct. 4th. I did sign up for the Tri-motor with FSD, @ $7k, at reservation (a week after reveal), and with state of Washington sales tax and all of the little extras, it cost me ~$120K... I have Power Wall 3's so we have the hardware for power-share. Have filled out all of the app forms, have been saving (for 5 years) so just waiting for the text/e-mail telling me my truck is ready!! I think all the folks that have been waiting around me are even more excited that I'm finally getting my truck! Thanks for the update!
Chris, Imagine how different your whole life would have been if you had chosen the Silverado back then. Crazy how choosing the Tesla changed your path!
"Anyone who's been skeptical has been blown away by the experience." Yep. I no longer drive my Model Y...Since 12.5.4 I've been sitting back and watching. No one, even most Tesla owners has any clue how good it really is. I feel bad when I see new cars. They just didn't know... Even if you don't want or can't afford FSD, it's a mistake to buy a new vehicle without the option.
I put new 1/4 panel on myself. $550 for panel and $100 at my friends garage. Tesla solar w Powerwall, as of now I am not eligible for Powershare because of a switch that is between home and grid. No time frame from Tesla when this will be resolved, Tesla says it will be resolved w software but not when. So I will be using my credit for winter tires. FSD IS BEST SO FAR! 411 whm
I just rolled over 14k miles and I picked mine up about 2 weeks after you. My biggest issue was the low voltage wiring harness was bad. After a month of being in the shop it has driven perfectly. I do have to have my wiper motor replaced as it shakes pretty bad over the speed of 70mph. The vehicle definitely still has a lot of interest and I talk with almost everyone that asks. My only upgrade I am thinking of are road tires for towing my RV.
So a brand new vehicle has already been in the shop for a month, and also now has a second issue. After a mere 14k miles. And you do not find that unacceptable? Tesla Stans really do say "hit me again, daddy Elon".
Aye congrats on 10k man, I’m about to hit 20k on my Model 3 Performance haha. Wanted the car for YEARS, was super happy to finally get one. FSD is also incredible as well. 😄🥳
My major issue: no pass thru to the bed. I realize the tonneau cover situation but there's got to be a work-around like a "fail safe" mechanical latching that prevents the cover from moving if the pass thru is opened. Lowering the glass would also be a nice part of that. Minor issue: a more multi-flexible tailgate like a 180 degree drop and, come on, a step area on the bumpers on both sides. The "A" pillars obstruction is not a big deal because in my Dodge I have giant mirrors where I can't see anything either requiring a lot of caution. The tray accessory under the back seats and the divider for the bed should have been standard in the Foundation Series but I will spring for those. One word review: SMOOTH.
For the amount of times you might use it Tesla felt its complexity was not needed for the initial versions. Maybe in 10 years they will update it and engineer it in.
Mine has that same creak. Tesla fixed it once but it came back, trying again. For me it is the center console. Great to hear about hwy range, got our first road trip coming up. Great review, matches our experience. FSD is solid and still works with a hitch rack and bikes - I haven’t seen anyone test that.
The other thing to consider when comparing to having to stop for gas is even if you’re only spending five minutes at the gas station frequently you will change your organization of stops or your route to go by your preferred gas station so realistically that’s taking you more time than just the amount of time you actually spend at the gas station
Yeah, back when we had a gasser, we left at least 15 min early if needing to stop. Just a couple days ago, my wife noted how nice it has been never having to leave early for fuel since getting our Tesla.
That would be a FASCINATING video, Chris...talking about how to roadtrip differently (min/maxing the battery usage?) I'd definitely be up for THAT video. Keep the content coming. Love it!
@@DirtyTesla Doesn't have to be. Can do same roadtrip 2 different ways....see what the results are. Planning any long trips to Florida anytime soon? :)
Rear view camera (above the vault) and or a new rear view mirror that is a screen seem essential. Other than that I think you pretty much nailed the review.
I 100% agree on the bed camera, definitely should have that. As for the rearview mirror, I got used to the current setup. I just want an option to see rear view and repeaters simultaneously
The charging curve is better when you consider how efficient it is. The chevy may charge faster, but it likely ends up gaining about the same distance at a higher cost
18:21 That price is crazy low and an honest good as new repair. On a regular truck they would have probably wanted to do metal work over replace the whole bed, and then the truck would have bodywork instead of an honest new panel.
Thanks for the great video. We’ve owned our CT for about 4 months and no issues so far. Nice balanced review. The CT isn’t for everyone but no vehicle made makes everyone happy. My wife was against it but now she is its biggest fan! She keeps telling people, “It’s like driving a spaceship!” What ever that means. I can think of a few changes that I'd like to see in the Cybertruck: The option for an insulated steel roof instead of glass (too hot in the summer for those in the south), redesign the side windows to be "framed" instead of "frameless" (on all Teslas), Put a rear view camera on the back of the roof so it doesn't get dirty and can be used when the tunneau is closed.
I don't like speculating on how much energy is being used for batt pre-heating. Would be nice to see the value somewhere in the car. Only then can be make an informed decision on if we feel it's worth the charging speed boost of a heated pack.

even at 350Wh/mi that's like 218Wh/km which is about 60Wh/km more than my model 3. Over a say 250,000 km lifespan of the vehicle is 6.2MWh more energy used in the CT vs the M3.
@@RedvinezYGO The CT is very aerodynamic by the way. But it's mass is the culprit. Also, I believe it's more efficient than all other Pickups, maybe even the "étron".

I'm interested to see what improvements they make over the coming years. The tonneau cover seems to break/come lose off-roading. That A-pillar cover has come loose for numerous owners. Every owner seems to agree that the rear-view mirror should be replaced by a screen/camera, especially one where you can switch between looking behind or looking at the cargo space. Many people also asking for a spare tire. Maybe they can make that work as an option instead of the under-bed storage. #1 thing would be having a 500mi range option for those who want to tow or go farther off the beaten track, power their cabin, that kind of thing. With some newer batteries claiming 500W/kg, that could potentially be done in the not-too-distant-future without adding any weight.
Didn't get the All Terrain tires with our Foundation series, which should be figured into the numbers. (But will have the Premium Connectivity for hopefully a decade or two, so that helps...)
The evaluations should be slotted into categories. Such as suitability for what you intended to use it for, the UI or user experience of driving it, the cosmetic issues, and the one that I would be most interested in. RELIABILITY, vehicles after all are TRANSPORTATION, was there ever an incident where you had to find alternate transportation when you were on the road? Did it always get you there and back with no hassles?
Could you send the damaged steel panels to a machine shop for a tensile test? I'm curious to see the full curve, not just strength but also elongation and toughness. Might be one of the toughest steel alloys ever made. Thank's
How about "Cross Traffic Alert? That is the missing feature on all Teslas!! It should be coupled with the rear camera, don't you think? A great video. Thanks for your insights.
I wonder if for the "heating" it is really just stopping the cooling loop from running in the battery, and letting internal heat just warm the pack. Any numbers on that, i.e. seeing discharge curve get steeper when preconditioning going on?
There are apps and dongles on the CAN-bus you can use on other Teslas and the batteries are definitely actively heated. You can see the inlet temperature on the cooling water going higher than the outlet temperature. I don't know if they have any apps like that working on the Cybertruck yet, since the computer network in the car is of a new type, too. If you watch Teslabjorn videos, he usually has some sort of device hooked up to get extra nerdy data.
I did want to quickly mention that for the standard range model 3 and standard range model Ys when they were a thing Tesla did and does place an artificial delay on the acceleration
Good review. Changes I want to see before I consider a Cybertruck: - better windshield wipers - A-pillar reduction / size improvements - rear visibility improvements (a video feed rear view mirror should be standard at $80k+) - better rain sensing (Tesla sucks at this overall) I’d love a pickup or larger SUV for my next car but will probably go Rivian if Tesla doesn’t make some big changes to Cybertruck.
Hey, we had a late 1000 vin and we had the same problem a lot earlier, it is the center console, as a temporary fix we also sprayed some foam filler spray or something like that I don’t know exactly, but I hope that helps you16:14
Unfortunately, not all of us were financially literate early. I was 35 when I finally educated myself and started taking steps. I went from $176,000 in debt with zero savings or retirement to now, 2 years later, fully debt-free and over $1000,000 net worth. I know that doesn't SOUND like a lot, but I'm incredibly proud of it. Now I'm fast-tracking my wealth building (investing $400,000 annually) and don't owe a dime to anyone. It's a good feeling!
I lost over $80k when everything started to tank. Not because I was in an exchange that went belly up. I was just stupid to hold and because that's what everyone said… I'm still responsible. It just taught me to be a better investor now that I understand more of what could go wrong. It took me over two years of being in the market, I'm really grateful I found one source to recover my money, at least $10k profits weekly and all thanks to Anita Jo Humphrey for her guide
Exploring new investment opportunities demonstrates your proactive stance towards financial growth during these volatile times. Diversifying your portfolio can play a crucial role in effectiveIy mitigating risks..
Don’t be confuse buying the dip in a bear market, with guaranteed future returns. Just because that company is down 60%+ from ATH does NOT make it a sound long-term investment. Make sure you’re investing in great companies. kudos to Anita Jo Humphrey for her guidiance
I'm waiting for a couple yrs of improvements, IDK what they'll be but expect substantial refinement, longer range, flaws fixed. Traction control can be a real buzkill. I turn it off every time in me old'e BMWs.
I converted my day 1 reservation to an order right after I got the invite to the non-foundation series, thinking it qualified for the tax credit (because Tesla previously said it would likely qualify and it even showed up on the EPA site with the under $80,000 price). But then I found out it didn't and they wouldn't let me go back to my spot in the reservation line and I had to pay a $250 penalty to cancel on top of it all. So I got totally screwed over and Tesla just doesn't care. Brand loyalty seriously damaged with that move. :( If you have A/Z plan, you can get a Lightning Flash for $51,725 plus tax after all the discounts vs $79.995 with Cybertruck, so that's where I'm looking at for now.
Shouldn't it take LESS energy (ie. less heat wasted) with 4680 cells? The "tabless design" was supposed to increase head dissipation due to a more permissive thermal bridge to cell chemistry. That same bridge should make heating the cells more efficient too. It is a 120KWh pack though, so efficiency is relative to pack size...
You live in such a warm climate, it’s sounds odd that you would need to warm the battery on every charge. And you get to drive reasonable speeds, so the energy usage should keep it warm.
Lifetime connectivity has an asterisk to note that defines lifetime as 8 years. Ps my utility said would look at PowerShare as someone with generator. Need to make sure the cut off of feed line is working for safety of line people
Can anyone explain why Tesla does not pass on the $7500 tax savings for leases? The reps say it is, but none of the small print shows it, and Tesla financing will not confirm it in writing.
Thanks for sharing. Are you planning some rust /electro corrosion prevention like a fluid-film treatment? Eric O. from SMA repeatedly shows us how modern car's aluminium parts rot away in America's rust belt after only a few years. Especially on cars driven on dirt roads.
I got an email in July that the wheel covers and light bar were going to be ready soon. I’m wondering if I should be contacting them to make sure they didn’t forget about me.
Chris, since you have your CT for more than 6 months now, are the fingerprints on the body getting less and less noticeable nowadays? The reason I ask that is because with my stainless steel appliances, it's quite hard for me to leave a fingerprint on it, and when people mention fingerprint during early days of CT I was confused why that thing is happening. Maybe it's because it's so brand new clean and Tesla smoothen out the surface while my appliances are old so the surface is roughen up? I'm not sure and I'm curious.
I actually wrapped it a few months in ua-cam.com/video/_E2xxWNx6kI/v-deo.html This video was long enough so I left it out since I have a dedicated video about it. But my truck was always dirty so I didn't notice finger prints haha. But yes, they did get on it and they are more noticeable than a paint car
The more I look at a non-foundation cybertruck the more I am put off from it. No powershare mobile connector only a gen 2 UMC. No homelink. Still no backup cam solution for a dirty lens which is also foundation problem too. Not thrilled with rear mirror situation. At least FSD is out. No tax credit overall yet if ever, certainly not for white trim. No CCS or Chademo adapter support. I am sure I'm forgetting a few other small things.

@@DirtyTesla Thank you for the quick response. Now I don't feel bad placing my invitation order for the non-foundation. Already got a vin. Now waiting for the delivery date!
Send me an email or DM on x after you get it and lmk what you think!
even at 350Wh/mi that's like 218Wh/km which is about 60Wh/km more than my model 3. Over a say 250,000 km lifespan of the vehicle is 6.2MWh more energy used in the CT vs the M3.
Note that the battery is also larger (123KWh vs 75KWh or ~60KWh) so it should not affect lifetime.
wow smaller cars are more efficient???? Who would’ve guessed a mid-sized aerodynamic sedan uses less energy than a triangle shaped truck
@@RedvinezYGO The CT is very aerodynamic by the way. But it's mass is the culprit. Also, I believe it's more efficient than all other Pickups, maybe even the "étron".
@@maxpelletier2237 it’s not even the most aerodynamic electric truck, it’s aero is good considering its shape but otherwise any car company actually trying to make something aerodynamic clears it
For instance the etron is notoriously inefficient because it wasn’t trying to be
@@RedvinezYGO I never said it was the most aerodynamic, I implied it was good enough to be the most efficient.
I just got my wheel covers installed. I did a service request asking for them, and they just happened to have them now.
I own a 22 raptor and have owned several super trucks and the cyberbeast is my favorite of them all.
Most critics and advocates of this company don't drive the vehicle. Good to hear an actual review. Politics ruin so much.
There's definitely a huge increase in energy use as soon as preconditioning turns on
I did want to quickly mention that for the standard range model 3 and standard range model Ys when they were a thing Tesla did and does place an artificial delay on the acceleration
My Model 3 Highland also lowers the power when I try to go full blast around a curve. It's soooo frustrating 😅 It's treating me like a child.
Good review. Changes I want to see before I consider a Cybertruck:
- better windshield wipers
- A-pillar reduction / size improvements
- rear visibility improvements (a video feed rear view mirror should be standard at $80k+)
- better rain sensing (Tesla sucks at this overall)
I’d love a pickup or larger SUV for my next car but will probably go Rivian if Tesla doesn’t make some big changes to Cybertruck.
Hey, we had a late 1000 vin and we had the same problem a lot earlier, it is the center console, as a temporary fix we also sprayed some foam filler spray or something like that I don’t know exactly, but I hope that helps you16:14
Third party options for the win
I want to start too but i don't know how..
How can i go about it...
Question regarding the Outisan E-Wagon Air...
Does/Would it work well in/on sand?
Hope I catch your road tires video
Your higher average power consumption could perhaps coming from heating and other things while stationary?
Do you think that not having a way to a/c the vault is a missed opportunity?
I'm waiting for a couple yrs of improvements, IDK what they'll be but expect substantial refinement, longer range, flaws fixed.
Traction control can be a real buzkill. I turn it off every time in me old'e BMWs.
What was better, waiting in anticipation or actually owning it?
OWNING! The anticipation was awful lol
1:21 You said a $5k premium, but it's actually only $3,095 (I paid $99,990 for my FS).
If you have A/Z plan, you can get a Lightning Flash for $51,725 plus tax after all the discounts vs $79.995 with Cybertruck, so that's where I'm looking at for now.
The irony of Mr. Clean not keeping his truck clean
The 4680 doesn’t hit any of the bullet points it was marketed as.
You live in such a warm climate, it’s sounds odd that you would need to warm the battery on every charge. And you get to drive reasonable speeds, so the energy usage should keep it warm.
I don't think he's got objective numbers for any energy use for warming the battery.
Lifetime connectivity has an asterisk to note that defines lifetime as 8 years. Ps my utility said would look at PowerShare as someone with generator. Need to make sure the cut off of feed line is working for safety of line people
I would rather have my Tacoma.
What's with the "304800um" that's a crazy unit
Wooo
Just checked and I can only purchase the foundation series. Where do you get these prices?
Dangggg 6 months went by so quick
Can anyone explain why Tesla does not pass on the $7500 tax savings for leases? The reps say it is, but none of the small print shows it, and Tesla financing will not confirm it in writing.
Awesome
Thanks for sharing. Are you planning some rust /electro corrosion prevention like a fluid-film treatment?
Eric O. from SMA repeatedly shows us how modern car's aluminium parts rot away in America's rust belt after only a few years. Especially on cars driven on dirt roads.
As of now I am not planning that, but now that you mention it I should probably do some reading
@@DirtyTesla South Main Auto here on YT has some videos on Krown rust proofing (also a non-toxic lanolin coating like fluid film, I believe)
I got an email in July that the wheel covers and light bar were going to be ready soon. I’m wondering if I should be contacting them to make sure they didn’t forget about me.
Hey Chris, how is the wind noise in the CT? for example at 70mph how does it exhibit more wind noise than your other teslas?
"something no one's ever done before" man you've really drunk the kool-aid
Excellent review.
On PowerShare; also if you have Solar with no Powerwall , PowerShare does NOT currently work. Waiting for updates.
Did you get the gateway installed?
@@DirtyTesla Months ago
Yeah that's unfortunate. Looks like lots of random issues
I actually wrapped it a few months in ua-cam.com/video/_E2xxWNx6kI/v-deo.html
This video was long enough so I left it out since I have a dedicated video about it.
10,000 miles in 6 months WOW you sure do drive alot 😳
Got mine in July and still don’t have my aero covers either…
Can anyone comment on the insurance costs between cybertruck and MX? I am interested in both vehicles for different reasons. Thanks.
If you don't mind me asking, where in Michigan are you? I grew up in Detroit in the 1960s & 70s. Just curious.
