Another epic video Alexander and what an amazing find the Roman snake ring was for you. I agree totally with you that the treasure act is 'not fit for purpose' and something needs to be done to sort out the utter mess it now is. Without metal detectorists the FLO's would be out of a job!! The BM is a dinosaur and needs a good kick up the backside to get it into the 20th Century, let alone the 21st Century. I also have no idea why the Coroner has to be involved in the treasure act (does anybody?). Anyway I have now got that off my chest and wish you well with your future forays. Would love to see Tasci in the next one, shame he was confined to barracks.

Nice first hammered find and in good condition well saved. The Jetton was nice as was the Roman. I agree over the last four digs I have found hundreds of four hole buttons but you have to dig them. Another fabulous video with some incredible finds....that land / soil is (as you say) so kind to the coins and artefacts.....amazing stuff! For once I can actually say I called your silver ring before we went back to HQ....one very similar (but in not quite as good condition) was found on a club dig in Clacton, Essex in January....hence why I knew it. Same snake head, also missing the other end, and also missing the bobbles on the back. A very special find for you there mate....I feel your pain re the FLO / treasure process....but what can you do?....it pains me too but has to be declared (although I know some don't). Love the tiny Elizabeth coin ,Roman coin and Jetton all in such good condition too, and the arrow shape mount had very interesting patterns ,the buckle was so sweet but you really hit the jackpot with the Silver Roman Ring ,could you pretend not to know what it is & keep it ? Crumbs that field is amazing, you certainly have become a Deus lite ambassador. That will be my next detector. It's a pity that the GMP hasn't got full tones.
I suspect for tones isn't as important if you have a readout of figures and lines et cetera but if you are using just your ears I think it makes a real difference - Hope all well Simon, Thank you as always for watching! All the best, Alexander
@@HolzHammerSagas Things are great thanks. I am an Ears man myself. Numbers are great, but having used a whites eagle spectrum for many years I used my ears more than numbers or even the graph... Using the tone was much faster, I rarely checked the number before digging.
That field is amazing. Just keeps throwing up those great finds. I hope you have a pleasant experience with FLO this time. That is the best Lizzy coin I have seen. You are so right about the conditions in that pasture. Looking forward to seeing Tasci "in the wild". Been windy here also, but warm and sunny this week so I have hounds soaking it up. And that little Elizabeth coin really was wonderful I haven't even cleaned it yet it could do with a very light one… funniest thing yesterday, I gave Tasci a little bone and he ran out into the garden and literally, by my feet as I walked up to him, he dug a little hole so fast, put the little bone in and then covered it up with his nose pushing the soil back over the hole - He then looked up at me and walked off -I thought only cartoon dogs did that!!! X

@@HolzHammerSagas I’ll keep my fingers crossed that you get it back. It is possible but very unlikely as they only have a couple of examples. I’m not a fan of the system either but it is a necessary evil, it just needs a shake up. The problem is that the only changes that are made are changes to the detriment of the people who provide the materials…. Don’t get me started ha ha.

@@HolzHammerSagas Hi ALex. Another enjoyable video. Glad you are reporting it. I have worked in museums for over 30yrs. At least if it does go in a drawer it will be safe, and whilst it might not go on display, it will be looked after. It’s a big contentious issue, but at least with the PAS, it may be slow, but it’s better than it could be. Licensing is still on the cards, and who wants that? I have a few friends who are FLOs and it’s not all plain sailing for them. As well as the honest detectorists, such as yourself, there are some less scrupulous folk who bring the hobby a bad name. One FLO friend was telling me only the other day that she’s been working on a case where people have been using a mini digger on known archaeological sites at night, and she also has two other legal disputes going on. We don’t often hear about these things. I also saw a video the other day of some chap detecting in a UK park! Saw a couple of blokes doing it in our local park in lockdown too! Such a shame that our hobby is endangered by folks who are either ignorant of the correct practices, or just don’t care. It’s only going to get harder. Keep caring.
@@jellyartist 99% of detectorist's are honest and genuinely interested in the history of the items they find. Alex is right about finds ending up in a museums dusty drawer and that's a shame. Only this week I handed three finds over to our Flo including a bronze age gold ribbon torc. If eventually they don't end up on display at our local museum (and local to the land they came from) I'll be disappointed. 👍
@@grassypants4450 I should add that I have been a detectorist since the 1970s and have stood up for our hobby in conversations with many doubting people including some archaeologists (many of them are fine with it) and other detractors. I agree that most detectorists are honest. THe PAS may not always be very fast, but it is quite reasonable and also provides a good resource in terms of reference for anyone interested in artefacts. It could get a lot worse, and legislation could hamstring us a lot more in the future. Just saying there’s a few who let us down and those are the ones the authorities seize on as examples, forgetting the good ones who are responsible for lots of the best finds in museums. Like all walks of life there are good folk and not so good folk and Alex is right that that includes FLOs, and archaeologists too. Museums try to display what they can but funding is being squeezed all the time . I too have given up finds that are in drawers in museums. It happens and it’s not ideal, but again, it could be worse. Good luck with your torcs and happy hunting.
@@jellyartist Thanks for that Vin - and although I agree and have sympathy with most of what you say - an object sitting in a drawer - and lets be honest, it will prob never see the light of day again - is not as good as being displayed, talked about , used as an educational prop for children and others wanting to know about it. I disagree strongly I am sorry! If it is a Celtic shield or a roman hoard, that is different, but my little squashed ring would be far better being kept safe by me, not a museum drawer. Amazing finds! My favorites were the Elizabethan penny and the snake ring. The Constantine coin too but you didn't put up an informational close-up of it. Just wonderful stuff and adorable Tasci too.
Fantastic range of finds, and the location is beautiful. Thank you for producing such great videos, and as someone else said, the splicing in of the research bits right after the find is a hit with me. So lucky to have access to such a brilliant location!

What a great hunt! How does the treasure process work in the UK? Over here, ALL items predating 1537 (and coins predating 1650) are state property. You are required by law to hand them over. You may, or may not get a finders fee.
Do you know what Jon, when I hear stories like that it makes me feel very spoilt to complain so much about how we have over here which is pretty good in comparison. Our treasurer process doesn't seem to be as strict it just makes me upset that almost all of it, and it's probably the same in your case, will end up in drawers in the basements of museums in many ways just so they can have it and we can't... I might go into it all in more detail in the future video if people can bear it! Hope all well -it's got very cold here!
Hi new to your channel, great videos. Ive got the lite also but struggle with digging coke as it sounds so much like a good target......What program/settings would you recommend (I mainly use hot/18khz)....thanks for any tips 👍👍
Hi Dixie, and thanks for watching! You are right about the coke and that's why I always use full tones - Always! And I do sometimes dig coke but usually only once in a session as it does sound different, It's a bit fuzzy if you know what I mean - keep at it and if you do use full tones you will soon get used to what it sounds like I promise! I tend to use the hot program with reactivity loads to 2.5 - All the best, Alexander

I am an Ears man myself. Numbers are great, but having used a whites eagle spectrum for many years I used my ears more than numbers or even the graph... Using the tone was much faster, I rarely checked the number before digging.
That field is amazing. Just keeps throwing up those great finds. I hope you have a pleasant experience with FLO this time. That is the best Lizzy coin I have seen. You are so right about the conditions in that pasture. Looking forward to seeing Tasci "in the wild". Been windy here also, but warm and sunny this week so I have hounds soaking it up. And that little Elizabeth coin really was wonderful I haven't even cleaned it yet it could do with a very light one… funniest thing yesterday, I gave Tasci a little bone and he ran out into the garden and literally, by my feet as I walked up to him, he dug a little hole so fast, put the little bone in and then covered it up with his nose pushing the soil back over the hole - He then looked up at me and walked off -I thought only cartoon dogs did that!!! X

@@HolzHammerSagas I’ll keep my fingers crossed that you get it back. It is possible but very unlikely as they only have a couple of examples. I’m not a fan of the system either but it is a necessary evil, it just needs a shake up. The problem is that the only changes that are made are changes to the detriment of the people who provide the materials…. Don’t get me started ha ha.

@@HolzHammerSagas Hi ALex. Another enjoyable video. Glad you are reporting it. I have worked in museums for over 30yrs. At least if it does go in a drawer it will be safe, and whilst it might not go on display, it will be looked after. It’s a big contentious issue, but at least with the PAS, it may be slow, but it’s better than it could be. Licensing is still on the cards, and who wants that? I have a few friends who are FLOs and it’s not all plain sailing for them. As well as the honest detectorists, such as yourself, there are some less scrupulous folk who bring the hobby a bad name. One FLO friend was telling me only the other day that she’s been working on a case where people have been using a mini digger on known archaeological sites at night, and she also has two other legal disputes going on. We don’t often hear about these things. I also saw a video the other day of some chap detecting in a UK park! Saw a couple of blokes doing it in our local park in lockdown too! Such a shame that our hobby is endangered by folks who are either ignorant of the correct practices, or just don’t care. It’s only going to get harder. Keep caring.
@@jellyartist 99% of detectorist's are honest and genuinely interested in the history of the items they find. Alex is right about finds ending up in a museums dusty drawer and that's a shame. Only this week I handed three finds over to our Flo including a bronze age gold ribbon torc. If eventually they don't end up on display at our local museum (and local to the land they came from) I'll be disappointed. 👍
@@grassypants4450 I should add that I have been a detectorist since the 1970s and have stood up for our hobby in conversations with many doubting people including some archaeologists (many of them are fine with it) and other detractors. I agree that most detectorists are honest. THe PAS may not always be very fast, but it is quite reasonable and also provides a good resource in terms of reference for anyone interested in artefacts. It could get a lot worse, and legislation could hamstring us a lot more in the future. Just saying there’s a few who let us down and those are the ones the authorities seize on as examples, forgetting the good ones who are responsible for lots of the best finds in museums. Like all walks of life there are good folk and not so good folk and Alex is right that that includes FLOs, and archaeologists too. Museums try to display what they can but funding is being squeezed all the time . I too have given up finds that are in drawers in museums. It happens and it’s not ideal, but again, it could be worse. Good luck with your torcs and happy hunting.
@@jellyartist Thanks for that Vin - and although I agree and have sympathy with most of what you say - an object sitting in a drawer - and lets be honest, it will prob never see the light of day again - is not as good as being displayed, talked about , used as an educational prop for children and others wanting to know about it. I disagree strongly I am sorry! If it is a Celtic shield or a roman hoard, that is different, but my little squashed ring would be far better being kept safe by me, not a museum drawer. What a great hunt! How does the treasure process work in the UK? Over here, ALL items predating 1537 (and coins predating 1650) are state property. You are required by law to hand them over. You may, or may not get a finders fee.
Do you know what Jon, when I hear stories like that it makes me feel very spoilt to complain so much about how we have over here which is pretty good in comparison. Our treasurer process doesn't seem to be as strict it just makes me upset that almost all of it, and it's probably the same in your case, will end up in drawers in the basements of museums in many ways just so they can have it and we can't... I might go into it all in more detail in the future video if people can bear it! Hope all well -it's got very cold here!

Hi new to your channel, great videos. Ive got the lite also but struggle with digging coke as it sounds so much like a good target......What program/settings would you recommend (I mainly use hot/18khz)....thanks for any tips 👍👍
Hi Dixie, and thanks for watching! You are right about the coke and that's why I always use full tones - Always! And I do sometimes dig coke but usually only once in a session as it does sound different, It's a bit fuzzy if you know what I mean - keep at it and if you do use full tones you will soon get used to what it sounds like I promise! I tend to use the hot program with reactivity loads to 2.5 - All the best, Alexander
