This video saved my ass. I was cleaning it and accidentally let the hammer slam forward. It bent the ejector roll pin, sent the ejector flying and the hammer spring came off the hammer. I was about to send it to ruger but I found your video. Gun is back together and working great. Loved this video. Great job!
I broke the firing pin on mine just a few days ago. Called Ruger and they are sending a new pin and spring. Glad to see your video! I think I can save some gunsmithing costs thanks to your great video! Nicely done.
I sent mine in, they have great customer service. I fired mine brand new and it wouldn’t eject the cartridge and also it wouldn’t load the cartridge properly
Got one of these for a Cerakote job. Customer wanted the slide and all the fire controls matched in color, so trigger and safety levers had to come out. Excellent video, sir. I will note that I had zero issues with the safely lever roll pin. Came out with ease on the gun I did.
49:14 & 55:45 - Thanks! Struggled with these...Had the lever in once, after 30 mins of trying...then it eventually came out again, and another 30 mins went by trying but couldn't get it in again...then looked for & found your vid. Then even after getting the lever in, and slide back on, could NOT get the lever to turn, until whatever I did differently the 38th time, and then it turned. ugh. Will watch the rest as some other point but just needed that help for now.
Great video. Just used for the bellator short stroke trigger install from Galloway. Major regret. Will use again to reinstall the factory trigger and trade for the M&P 57 or an F&N. Thanks!
Is there supposed to be a roll pin on the right side of the ejector as well? Having issues with the ejector falling out causing the hammer spring to fall out.
Job well done. Thank you very much for a true 100% teardown. I haven't done 100% tear down yet but I end up losing mag takedown spring so I had to make a new one. Not the easiest thing to do without the old one as a pattern.
Great video except... I can't get the hammer to catch on the sear after assembly. I've redone it several times and it doesn't want to seem to push back all the way so it will catch the hammer... I'm pretty sure the parts are going back together the right way. Any ideas?
You've probably found an answer by now, but the trigger bar spring probably needs to be replaced. If it's not providing enough tension upward on the trigger bar, the trigger bar will just slip off of the contact point with the sear and float downward in that channel on the fire control insert.
The trigger on my Ruger 57 will not reset. I have studied this video closely, but I do not see anything specific relating to the trigger reset. Before I start taking it apart without any ideas of what to look for, I was hoping you or someone would post a trigger rest specific video.
Can you make a video of adjusting the FRONT sight? Please. Its too far to the left by .003" or so. I Used a sight pusher but felt it was gonna break it b4 it would move any. It's supposedly a Novak (sp?) SIGHT dovetail but like I said...it refused to move. Is it glued in place? Do I need to heat up the slide with a hair dryer? Please Help!!!
Can you remove the extractor without removing the firing pin, I'm wanting to paint my slide because I live in humid Florida and I'm sure you know that carbon steel slide will rust if you breath on it
Definitely goin apeshit cause that sr9c is probably the best pistol ruger will ever design. The 57 definitely took some design from the sr9 chasis system is almost identical
This needs way more views by way more 57 owners. I had to send in mind because the ejector pin came out and the hammer decided not to stay where it should have. Ejector pin fell out during field strip last night. This is pathetic.
I didn’t I actually unenrolled from it I just didn’t have the time to mess with it anymore. Overall it was a good starter program and I recommend it being it’s pretty good info and a good price
Hey I’m sure you won’t respond but I took my 5.7 apart and pulled the trigger something fell off when I put it together I rack it and pull the trigger no click or anything any help ?

Can you make a video on what the issue might be if you want to chamber a round and it won’t shoot and how to fix it

Love this video bro best take down video on here for the 57 👍🏾

Apparently no. Not a great design.
Wish he showed how to take the striker off. I’m pretty sure mine is toast it just falls out.
Thanks for posting. Had to strip for a two tone cerakote. You saved me time and worry.

What if my gun won't fire after I put it back together..? The hammer hitting the fire pin won't shoot forward @the gun bench
Nice, I am thinking of nickle plating my slide , slide catcher , safety selector, and take down pin
the thing that covers the firing pin in my ruger 57 is hard to get out any tips?

My take down lever is a little bit harder to get back in than that I have to take a punch and straighten it out and pus from the other side
Best 57 video
any possible way if triggle spring destroyed?
I can’t get the damn pin out of the trigger I’ve tried everything a pick screw driver it won’t budge
Thanks for your knowledge and sharing it.
How do you adjust or remove the front sight on a Ruger 57??? My sight pusher wouldn't move it at all?

Not sure if you're still active but. I shot my 5.7 day before yesterday and then cleaned it. Now the trigger don't work. Any ideas?

Hey my ruger is dry firing while on safety is there anything i did wrong?
excellent vid! you're an invaluable resource!
I took mine apart and the mag seems to get stuck on the spring now and won’t come out very easily
Fixed it. The firing pin spring pin wasn’t all the way down the hole causing it to sit sideways

The name of the tool you used to push the spring forward ?
Hey man. I really really messed up on this gun. I really need help. I’m soooo stuck n now I feel I wasted a good gun.
So my firing pin keeps falling out. Just happened recently before it was fine. But now I cant get it to stay . Did i lose a piece? help lol
Do you no a website to get parts? I lost my plunger for the take down lever
Numrich? They may have it

Thank you so much, My tension spring for the hammering pin jumped out of that hole at the range today after firing 1 shot. Maybe I used too much lube?

hey @The Gun Bench did you ever finish the modern gun school program? I'm thinking about starting it myself

Thank u
it catches the hammer on the under side
Would have been cool to hear what you're saying
Very helpful, thank you!
Can you make a video taking off the rear sights and send it to me or post it
the camera is too high we are missing a lot of your wonder work, the camera angle needs to go pointed down at the trigger housing. thanks
Amazing! Thanks!
TURN YOUR SOUND UP.
Internals remind me of the fnx
That trigger pin will not come out for the life of me.
That trigger pin willing not come out for the life of me.
Brand new and the trigger bar wont pivot the hammer enough to cause it to fall wtf. Hate the gun right now and the stupid seller wont take it back
Hi I’m having an issue with my 57 could you shoot me a text
One of the dumbest stripes I’ve ever done! I’ll never shoot this gun again 😂
Dam a hour to disassemble 🤦🏻♂️
These guns are junk. So many issues. Save up and buy an FN if you must have a handgun chambered in 5.7x28mm.
