  • We are cycling towards Iran’s Central Plateau via Hamadan and Saveh. In the capital Tehran we have to extend our visa. Later we continue southeast, passing the holy city and hotspot of the Islamic revolution Qom, and reach the desert city of Kashan by the end of June.
    We take you with us on a bicycle journey around the world and show it how we see it. We hope to inspire more people to go on great adventure themselves or if they can't, to get a sense of ours.

      Well, as we see it, mainstream news focus on issues that are of general interest to large groups of people. We are generally under the impression that what they show is indeed the case, but of course, there are many topics (e.g. the hospitality of Iranians) that are of less interest to many. This can easily create a bias in perception. However, we have no reason to assume the issues we were concerned about from the information we had is not accurate. Iran is, in some ways, indeed a far more dangerous place for tourists than most countries. If not very careful, one can get into very serious trouble easily, even without wrongdoing.

    Persian is the official language of Iran spoken by 98% and the native tongue of 60% of the population ,spoken by practically everyone in Iran.
    Its the largest linguistic group in Iran and the largest Iranic language ,about 80% of the country speak Iranian languages close to Persian and 18 % turkic , 2 Arabic and others include Armenian ( indo-European as Persian) and Assyrian. Source : all official accounts including UNITED NATIONS .

    • @AmazingWorldBikeTour
      @AmazingWorldBikeTour  2 місяці тому +3

      Oh we know that. What we meant was that from our route entering from Armenia, we crossed regions with a majority of Turkic and Kurdish speakers first. So, in that sense, Farsi is the third language for us in Iran. That is pretty impressive. Not many countries have so many different cultures and languages!

    • @KeyhanHadjari

      @@AmazingWorldBikeTour Iran is not an ethno-state like most european countries. It is like India an old civilization and empire by different ethnicities. And although In the Azari and Kudish region the local language is Azari and Kurdish butyou can do all your business in Persian as well. Also in the Persian areas that you mention there exist many local languages. As someone mentioned most of these languages are Indo-Iranian Languages, but some like Azari o Arabic are not.

    • @AmazingWorldBikeTour
      @AmazingWorldBikeTour  2 місяці тому

      In that sense, almost everything can be interpreted as a political statement. Giving that notion to the free expression of opinion is, in many cases, a strategy to discredit what was said.
      We are from countries with freedom of expression and free press, so not speaking our mind about anything openly at any time would feel very wrong to us.

    • @AmazingWorldBikeTour
      @AmazingWorldBikeTour  2 місяці тому

      To interfere with the politics of countries seems like a pretty wild thing to do.
      We speak our mind freely, always. However, some people are not used (or not allowed) to it and might see this differently.

    • @AmazingWorldBikeTour

    • @stephenvincent2147
      @stephenvincent2147 Місяць тому

      @@AmazingWorldBikeTour No, nothing specific. I was just curious as to how you plan and execute visa applications, etc, on the move, especially with countries that have short windows.

    • @AmazingWorldBikeTour
      @AmazingWorldBikeTour  Місяць тому

      We are so lucky to both have the German passport, which is among the strongest in the world. Iran was the first country where we needed a visa. We applied online through an agency (20$ per person extra) for the tourist e-visa and got it within a week or so.
      Most countries have fairly generous visa exemption policies with Germany. However, we got a 60 days e-visa (including GBAO permit) for Tajikistan (direct no agency) which also took about one week, just to have more than the 30 free days in Tajikistan.
      To be fair, for the most part we did not cross countries where visa are a major issue, at least for the German passport.
      But of course, we usually have a general idea about the upcoming months, and check what is necessary. There are countries that are an absolute pain in the ass, or impossible (especially in Africa), but for us the most annoying visa to get was China. Also, the situation changes permanently. If we would start now, it would be easier, and we would take a different route...

    Ich bin Iraner und denke, dass Iran sehr schön ist. Im Moment ist es im Iran jedoch sehr warm, und Fahrradfahren ist auch sehr schwierig. Im April ist es besser als jetzt. Es ist nicht zu kalt und nicht zu warm! Iranische Menschen sind sehr freundlich. Es gibt einen Unterschied zwischen den iranischen Menschen und der Regierung des Irans. I wasn’t going to say anything as your English is perfect and we all know what you mean but you said this a few times now. So, in English there is a difference between a shadow and shade. A shadow has a shape. It is the dark that an object casts. Focus is on the object which does something (cast a shadow). But shade is the black dark area. No focus on shape or the object casting it. So you look for and find yourself in shade not shadow. What created the shade is not relevant. You could be in the shadow of an object though but there the emphasis is on the object. You could be in a shadow of a tree or you could be in shade. You are not in a shade of a tree and you are never in a shadow.
