  • Cycling up and over the legendary Mount Nemrut in the Taurus mountains in the scorching heat of late June in Turkey was our toughest challenge yet. All along the way we enjoyed awe inspiring scenery, but that is nothing compared to what awaited us at the top!

Thanks a lot! Yes, even our two and half month were too short to visit all the places we had in mind. But that’s always a good reason to go back :)

Well, thanks, but we can't keep the camera running all the time, so there is certainly more swearing involved. Still, nothing beats the high we get once we reached the top!

You. Are. AMAZING!!!! I hope one day, to do touring biking, with a girl friend. (Throwing that in the Universe....) At the age of 61, not a lot of chance to meet a lady crazy enough to travel by bike. Not being alone can really help getting through some difficult time on a trip like this. Sharing is a key word here. I did cross Canada last year, from Montreal to Vancouver, and it was really tough sometimes. Anyway, watching your videos make me want to get back on the roads next spring, wich is very soon, 3-4 months. Thanks for sharing. Paul from Québec, Canada

Dear Paul, Thank you and also for the ☕️
We'll keep our fingers crossed for your dream and hope you meet the right person for a huge journey. We think by now that traveling solo also has many benefits. On the other side, once you are on such a journey, you quickly enter this long distance cyclists bubble, and from time to time, share parts of the route and time.
      All the best!

We actually came in from the other direction (from Kahta), and we didn't bike all the way to the top. We got in at like 10 pm, stayed at a hotel almost at the top and took a taxi in the morning to the site. (The benefit of being on a two month trip is that we didn't have to stick to as much of a budget... but the drawback was that we were short on time.) We walked up those stairs, so we were worried when you mentioned you might be going down them! But you did it! @@AmazingWorldBikeTour

Your absolute best video yet. The climb had me experiencing phantom struggles with you, and the walking descent looked extremely difficult with fully packed bikes. You're both amazing! It's funny to think back to Mathias' climbs early in the tour. Ha! --- I was concerned about your brakes for the descent from Mt. Nemrut, so was really pleased that you were able to hitch a ride to a well deserved rest. Wishing you cooler weather and tailwinds to Ani.

That is so nice to hear! We also like this one a lot. Thanks for the kind words. Unthinkable to try this just a few months earlier. We actually had to stop 3 times to cool the brakes on our way down. That was even steeper than the way up!

I had a long, hot ride with plenty of black flies just like this. It was during last summer while bike-packing through Michigan's upper peninsula. It made a great story, and feel so inspired to see people out there doing it. Just found this channel and will definitely be sticking around. Keep pushing and keep posting!

You should wear long sleeve, white, polyesters tops. Reflect more light & reduce your body temp.

    • @AmazingWorldBikeTour
      @AmazingWorldBikeTour  7 місяців тому

That is a good point. We never went for white cloths though because it is impossible for us to stay presentable in them. We just don't have the opportunity to wash them often enough 😅
But maybe we give it a shot one day, thanks for the tip!

    Enjoyed the video very much.
In this video you increased the length of the video but you decreased the scope. It works great. You are climbing and climbing and we all feel the pain with you. And then you present us with this wonder of the world at the top that I have never heard of but should have. Makes you wonder how they got the statutes up there. Having experienced your climb on a bike with gears makes me ponder this question without you even asking.
    Thanks for sharing your experience

Hello nice people, thank you for sharing all these beautiful images!!
I think you should make a better crank set to climb easier and not suffering so much..
My girlfriend's bike has three Plato 22-36cassette on a 26wheel
And me one Plato 32-51cassette on 29wheel and works super good at the steepest mountains..
I love the shots with your drone!!
    Bonne courage!!!
