    Hey there,
maybe you can relay this to Joe somehow if you don't know anything about this issue (as I didn't wanna bother asking them over their business mail)
I'm trying to setup both bands on my TRI 148 and am having all kinds of weird things happening to me.
    What I want:
Have the upper band contain the 16 PMR 446 channels WITH encoding (ideally DCS like DCSN072 which is what my friends use on their cheap radios). I want to only hear their calls on the upper band and only send to them when using the upper band.
Have the lower band contain the 16 PMR 446 channels WITHOUT encoding, so that I can quickly switch to this band and radio to HQ or other squads.
I only want to hear stuff on the channels I am on. So lets say I am on channel 1 upper band (to talk to my friends) and am on channel 8 lower band (which is HQ). I dont want to hear people talking on other channels like channel 4 for example (which is enemy team).
    What I did:
Program in the 16 channels in the lower band with no DCS or CTCSS.
Program in the 16 channels in the upper band with both receive and transmit set to DCSN072.
    Havent touched any other settings.
    Whats happening:
Lets say again I am on channel 1 upper band (to talk to my friends) and am on channel 8 lower band (which is HQ). I can talk to my friends and hear my friends just fine. But for some reason I can also hear other people talking on channel 1 even though they dont use encyption. Also I hear a crazy loud static noise everytime someone sends on any channel. So even tho I am on channel 1 and 8, I hear loud static when someone sends stuff on channel 4.
How do I fix that? Something to do with other settings I havent considered yet? I played around with squelch a bit but to no avail. So maybe Joe could detail on how he would setup a basic DCS/CTCSS encryption?
Sorry for the WOT and thanks in advance!
    Greetings from Germany!
    Fabi

a big issue I had with the fancy clone radios was you cant get a big enough split in offset direction ( max of 90mhz on the clones ) when trying to program and talk onto a crossband repeat antenna.. Its a cool radio but its super over priced for what you actually get. for 300$ and being a ham/airsofter... love to get one because they are super cool, but i will always offer icom, kenwood, motorola as recs for a "Good" radio. Touching back on the crossband repeat and using a high antenna to give you Line of sight and true communications superiority. The bao fengs definitely have horrible TX and RX

True points! As we mentioned, those fancy radios really are just priced for the body and accessory compatibility and minor function. Works perfectly for what we do though!

@@The.Gear.Locker they are definitely sick and I would like to add one to the collection, what's your opinion on the feng 152 clone ? ever played around with one ?

I haven’t even heard of those lol. I personally wouldn’t trust them. I also would not use them for an impression- they look a bit toyish. Just my first observations though!

Thanks for the video! Music is a bit loud and makes it hard to follow, but 🙆
