A trailer is a home. Once had someone tell my son don't forget where you came from. Proud to say he lived in a trailer....he still does....and we do too. A home when love is present is more than the structure. So we live in a trailer does that make a family feel ashamed to have lived or living in one. This person who told my son he shouldn't forget where he came from moved more than 10 + times . Dad passed by overdose....we just lived in a trailer for 20 years are made to feel like trailer trash in her eyes. Seems like she should look in the mirror. Worry about where she came from.
Netflix brought me here, after seeing the documentary on Miss Tucker. If I am honest, I am not a fan of Country Music even though I heard it all my life growing up in Texas, I couldn't name but a few country hits off top of my head and sadly none that Miss Tucker has sung. However, I have to give Miss Tucker props on this song, it was beautiful and sung with feeling and emotion. Now I am going to explore her catalog, I am big R&B Soul fan but it was something really soulful about this performance. I am glad I am old enough to understand now that good music transcends all genres of music. This song was a masterclass on singing from your soul. Hats off to you Miss Tucker and may you continue to make quality music that touches people.
Well said I’m 22 and attending an upcoming concert with my grandparents her story is a true inspiration and very similar told stories from our other country legends .
Miranda's version is awesome. But this, Miss Tanya Tuckers version really pulled my heart strings. The emotion she put in to the song and the rawness and vulnerability that she exhumed is amazing. She sang it in a way that will stop you in your tracks. 💜💜
So beautiful! To hear an older voice sing these lyrics just makes it hit different. Reminds me of the time when I was about 16-17and was visiting my grandmother not long after grandad passed. She asked me to take her out for a drive, so I did and following her directions we ended up at a weathered, tumbled down farmstead in the middle of a western Kansas wheat field. She told me it was where she grew up and we spent an hour or two just sitting there and her telling stories of the place. Nearly 20 years later and she hasn’t been back since. I didn’t realize it then, but after hearing this song, she was going back to her “place of healing”. I witnessed a powerful thing that day that my young mind didn’t comprehend. I will alway hold that memory close!

Tanya has carried on for her children, and been a good provider, and a good mother. Tanya you've made your parents proud. It's nearing time that you should rest, and enjoy yourself.
I'm crying; I'm emotional. I have followed Tanya's career & her personal life since the beginning. I have seen her ups & downs; and she has shared with us all her depression, the death of both parents, so much of what she's been through she has unselfishly clued us in to. This I think is especially why her version of this song is so gut wrenching. Her vocals are the best there is; even though beyond there's the heartache coming through; she isn't just singing; she is living this song. The whole CD is an absolute mind blowing masterpiece. I remember in 2012 hearing she's going to make this CD with all new songs & I was thrilled. The wait was long but well worth it. God bless.
I first hrard of Tanya's Drlta Dawn around 1974. To me, she is one of the very last true breed country singer after Tammy Wynette and Loretta Lynn. With her talent, she could have make a lot more if she cross over to pop music. But, she stay put with country music.
My goodness. Teddy Swims sang the 1st version of this song I heard. Loved him and the song, lyrics touching my past and song allowing me to feel what still needs to be healed. Anyways... I have never heard of tanya tucker but tonight after searching for teddys song I saw and listened to tanyas... always i read reviews, rarely do I review but... this comment is a review of your review and id like to say... your comment makes me want to find out who this woman is, and honor her life's work and survivors strength you described. Very moving, thank you
Miranda's version is touching and moving.. Tanya's version goes ahead and rips your heart out with her emotion she puts in, it may be her raw voice, but Lord, this was definitely a tear jerker..
whoa. wow. Miranda's version is good, but this. this. this is why we all need mature voices in our music. they draw upon so much experience. thank you.
I cry every time I hear this song. I have loved every song Tanya Tucker has sang since I was a child I am 50 years old now. I found myself in my daughter's bedroom crying like a baby listening to this song right after my husband died at age 49 in 2019. He taught my daughter how to play the guitar in her bedroom. A few days after my husband died we had to start looking for another house that me and the kids could afford and had to give up our ranch we raised our kids at. I still wish I could go back and see our old house it was our home for over half my life we raised four kids together there and so many loved pets and memories. This song really hits home. Thank you Tanya
I went back home at 40 yrs old and climbed my tree, walked thru my house feeling the ghost good and bad , then visited the backyard where I visited my sons grave born on my 16th bday. Thank you for the song that I lived 20 years ago.
It didn’t take long before this one made me cry. In 20 minutes l watched this video 3 times, sent it to my daughter who gave it a thumbs up, texted me a crying emoji 😭 and said, “She’s got a unique voice”. Fourth time watching, I started crying when you sang about your favorite dog being buried underneath that live oak. And, cried all the way to the end plus a little longer. I needed it. Thank you for this one Tanya Tucker! “I thought if I could touch this place or feel it. This brokenness inside me might start healin’. Out here it’s like I’m someone else. Thought that maybe I could find myself. Ma’am if I could walk around I swear I’ll leave. Won’t take nothin’ but a memory”. Watching again and crying some more. Real tears. This is so deep.
@@michaeldietz6424 Not really as I loved both versions but Miranda's is always going to be the best. Miranda definitely wrote the song and sang it first so her original version is always going to be better than covers. No one can do it as good as hers. Tanya brings out the happiness that makes people smile but Miranda puts a lot more emotional feeling to the song. Maybe some people may want the song less sad so they may prefer Tanya's. I feel like Miranda brings out the cry as you can hear the cry, sadness, and heartache. You can feel the story. Miranda's is more sad and makes me feel sad, and cry. I can hear that heartache like you don't want to move away and feeling lost in your own world wanting to remember the memories you had. The good and bad memories people shared. I love that about Miranda. I would do a cover of it but would never try to do it better as it feels wrong to and it would feel like I'm not respecting her. I respect both versions but I will always feel Miranda's more. She really does bring out the true feeling of the song doesn't she?
That song wipes me out. I think of the last place my parents lived and where my daddy passed away. The house of fun summers when my children were young. Moms wonderful cooking and beautiful gardens. If I won a lottery I would walk up to the door and offer them money so I have it and put it back to its once beautiful self. Just like when mom and dad lived there. Then, with gods good grace, I would know true peace once again.
My goodness you said exactly what I was thinking! I still dream about the house I grew up in.sometimes I dream that I walk in and it's so different that it hurts my heart and I wake up so sad
I still go by my boyhood home. Somebody fixed it up and I remember every nook and cranny of that old wood framed house. I feel so contented when I go by that place. I even buried a time capsule under the chimney. I wish the new owner would let me go dig it up. Its just an old tin succrets cough drop box with Frito bandito erasers. I buried them for some God knows what reason. I buried them over 40 years ago.
My mom & Dad both passed away in the house that built me. I tried to find a way to keep the house, but financially I couldn't. I sold 55 years of my life. Christmas, Easter, birthday memories . Sad to have to grow up and be an adult.
I’ve been listening to Miranda’s version for years… This one just popped up in my feed, I thought maybe Miranda did a remake of a Tanya song but I don’t ever remember Tanya singing this. Tanya’s version just hit me so hard. My kids are growing up and moving out of our house that we’ve been in since 2000! Trying to figure out do we need this big house anymore. But after this I don’t know if I could ever let it go. Than the picture of her on her horse with her English bulldog I literally lost it. We have always had English bulldogs and it brought me right back to my first one and losing her. It’s absolutely incredible the feelings and emotions a song can convey.
We grew up poor and can relate...never judge someone unless you walk in their shoes. Have more respect for people like you that made a difference in your life and others. Never forget.....
We wern't rich nor poor we grew up humble with compassion for others. taught by our parents, others were not poor just little less fournate to have to struggle more. Proud to be their friend, look to the heart not the assets. fact was they were nicer too.
Tanya is an amazing story teller. Even in her youth when she sang the likes of Delta Dawn, Lizzie and the rainman, or what's your Mama's name she possessed an uncanny ability to emote and lure you in.
Actually like this version better then the original and I really liked the original. Whenever I hear this song I close my eyes and think about the house and people that built me, the house is still there but the people are all gone. Wish I could go back at least once more to the house and the people that built me to maybe help me heal the brokenness inside me and help me find myself again.
Wow wow wow !! This is what you call country music ! Her voice man she’s till got it ... I feel every bit of this song today ... Tanya Tucker you still got it lady I’ve always lived your music and this album just tops it off ... ❤️🙌🏻

This song reminds me of my mamaw and papaw's old little white farm house. Everytime I need a little healing, I remember climbing the rock stairs up to the red painted wooden porch. My mamaw would always greet me with a big smile. In some way that little house brings back so many memories of my home place in Appalachia.
This is a moment…I’ve never heard Tanya Tucker song before…I don’t believe & I’m blown away with the way she delivers this song. She sings beautifully broken…you hear pain in her voice that helps this song along! I love it & now I want to hear more from her so off I go checking her out. This was/is a masterpiece as another person commented!!
Miranda didn't write the song. Although she's the original artist to record it, her version is ultimately an interpretation of someone else's work too. The song was written by Tom Douglas and Allen Shamblin.
Tanya Tucker vs Miranda is like comparing a soul diva with a pop princess. As beautifully as Miranda sings, she just doesn't sound broken in her spirit while Tanya sounds like she's pouring her heart out with each line.
First time hearing this song, either version, and all I can say is wow. I did not expect to start crying after that but my gosh, it's just so dang emotional!
@Tanya Tucker Honey, I will continue to love and support you until the day I die. I'll admit I was never a country music fan as a child, but over the years I have found a few exceptions and you're one of them. I love how you pour so much emotion into everything you do, "The House That Built Me" being just one example. Saying I cried after hearing it is an understatement; I bawled my eyes out like a child for a solid half an hour and still tear up at even the thought of it. When just one song can affect someone so profoundly, clearly you're something special. Please never give up on this path you have so terribly struggled to pave for yourself; there is a sea of listeners out there hanging on your every word and finding comfort in your voice during this difficult time. I just hope someone is there for you the way you have been there for all of us. We love you, Tanya...100%.

August 7th, 2023 My house was struck by lightening, burning half of it. The living room, hallway, and my room were just charred and burned. My parents have lived in it for 20 years, a old 1984 Singlewide was our home me and my sister grew up in. We had some health problems with my dad on October 29th but its all sorted and we have another happy little trailer ontop of where the old house sat. If I had all the money in the world, I would build an exact replica of it because its now my dream home I once had.
My Mom is Free from this World and She LIVES Tanya Tucker and I listened when I was a Girl. We live out in the Holler near where the Coal Miners daughter was filmed. 🙋🏼♀️
I love this song. I grew up in Texas. I loved my trailer. I was a young mom and we bought a small piece of land in Dayton, Texas. That three bedroom manufactured home was all we could afford. I really miss that place. I raised two beautiful boys in that home. My boys are both in their thirties now. I drive by as often as I can when I’m in the area. The new owners have made a lot of improvements. It’s still and as beautiful as it ever was. My first born son learned to play guitar in that cozy little home so this song means a lot to me. I love it. Good memories. ❤
@@HappyWife93Hello!!! How are you doing? Please pardon me for intruding into your privacy but I just wanted to know if you are a fan? Have a great day… Stay Safe!
I love Miranda's original, but Tanya throwing in all the pictures nearly brought me to tears. It looked so much like the homes (my mom's and also grandparents'). I grew up with a Chihuahua that looked exactly like hers, and I lost both of my horses sooner than I expected to. I'm sure Miranda was flattered and choked up that Tanya chose to do it.

Ms Tucker, I truly love how genuine you are. I have loved your voice for a long time. What you see is what you get with Ms Tucker. Wish more people in the industry were like you. You are up there with Loretta Lynn, Patsy Cline.
I’m 52 next month and have loved Tammys music ever since I heard “Delta Dawn”. I absolutely loved that song and know every word. I’m so glad she’s back and she looks great!! ❤️
Now this is the definitive version! Miranda doesn't do a bad job, but no one can top this! It's like trying to be Patsy Cline and there only was one. Just like we have one Tanya Tucker! Thank you for your voice and talent.
When I hear Tanya Tucker, I think of long car trips to see family in West Virginia. Dad would play Merle and Tanya the whole eight hour ride. Now with mom and dad gone, this version touches me more than I care to admit.

I ❤️ so much, definitely a song of healing. "This brokenness inside me might start healing.". I miss my parents and the house that built me. I took an old door knob off before the sale of the house, lol. I sometimes hold it just to take me back "And I bet you didn’t know under that live oak / My favorite dog is buried in the yard" the lyrics always bring me to tears happy and sad.....Love her unique voice, been listening to her for years!
The original never got to me like Tanya's version does. Listen to that voice...that's a life well lived, on her own terms. So glad Shooter Jennings knew she still had it in her.

My great grandparents farmhouse burnt down shortly after both had left and both have passed. My Grandma grew up in that house and my mom and her siblings, me and my siblings, all grew up there or visiting the house and my great grandparents. There were a lot of great memories in that house. They are some of the only times from when I was tiny that I really remember. This song makes me cry. Nostalgia hits really hard with this one. Beautiful song.

Oh my heart, crying while reading! 🩵🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
This is one of those songs that rips your heart out
I went back home at 40 yrs old and climbed my tree, walked thru my house feeling the ghost good and bad , then visited the backyard where I visited my sons grave born on my 16th bday. Thank you for the song that I lived 20 years ago.
❤️❤️
Just shows that making a song a hit does not always bring out the true feeling of that song. Tanya definitely made this song talk to me.
Its originally sang by Miranda Lambert who sings it better
Am i the only one who thinks Miranda's Version is better?
She really does bring out the true feeling of the song doesn't she?
yes.
@@HeroShades for the record, miranda didnt write this song... she just sang it and made it famous
Sad to have to grow up and be an adult.
thank god brandi talked tanya into recording and releasing this
I like this version, we can all relate to this, the dog part breaks me up Tanya I am proud to have grown up with your music.
Delta?
Actually like this version better then the original and I really liked the original. Whenever I hear this song I close my eyes and think about the house and people that built me, the house is still there but the people are all gone. Wish I could go back at least once more to the house and the people that built me to maybe help me heal the brokenness inside me and help me find myself again.
One of the most unique voices of Country music.Golden!
Wow wow wow !! This is what you call country music ! Her voice man she’s till got it ... I feel every bit of this song today ... Tanya Tucker you still got it lady I’ve always lived your music and this album just tops it off ... ❤️🙌🏻

Tayna is still rocking that voice. I loved her singing since I was a little girl.
I've loved her since she started singing where we heard her on the radio ,we are pretty cl oi se in age and I sang in public too ., but she made a life of it and has done outstanding. Love

Tanya, thank you for stating true to you and your roots. I grew up listening to you. So glad Brandi and Shooter took you to the studio. My best years were my humble years~small places, big love, and country like this. Thank you! ❤🎶
Tanya’s version bright tears to my eyes. Well gone lady
Tanya took it to another level...
She was the best act I saw on the Grammys and WORTHY of the win, Congratulations Tanya, that is one sweet song.
I've been listening to Tanya since I born. Country music still needs your voice. Never stop!
She is still doing concerts, the great ones are not all gone ❤️
Miss Tucker thank you for so many years of memories and great music 🥰 many blessings to you and your family ✨🦋❤️
I remember when she dated Andy Gibbs. She could sing then and still singing great today..

Hi how are you doing?
Yes my heart broke when mom sold the house 💖💖💖💖
Hi how are you doing?
Thank you Miranda for a beautiful song. Thank you Tanya for your interpretation!
Miranda didn't write the song. Although she's the original artist to record it, her version is ultimately an interpretation of someone else's work too. The song was written by Tom Douglas and Allen Shamblin.
OMG. How many of us have made that broken journey to the last house of happy memories? I thought I was alone.
Hello dear
How are you doing
It’s nice meeting you here....
Gave me chills and brought me to tears 💖 beautiful version
Tanya Tucker vs Miranda is like comparing a soul diva with a pop princess. As beautifully as Miranda sings, she just doesn't sound broken in her spirit while Tanya sounds like she's pouring her heart out with each line.
Beautiful and so heartfelt.❤
Best that’s ever done it❤️
Even though it was rocky, that picture of her and Glenn Campbell shows what that relationship meant to her. Great version of a great song.
I cant imagine my life without your music Tanya. ❤

My house was struck by lightening, burning half of it.
I’m glad you’re all ok. God bless.
WOW. Heard Miranda's version and I love it but you can hear the emotion in Tanya's voice. My respects! This why I love music!
@Tanya Tucker I can't believe you replied to my comment! You're the best @Tanya Tucker! 😍
@Tanya Tucker ok! 😁
I raised my first dog on that property my beloved little Sammy. R.I.P. So many good memories there and this song brings it all back. ❤️

I cry every time I hear this one. 202 Williams Dr. I miss you daddy and the house that built me. 🕊🕊🕊🕊
Crazy how a different voice and perspective can bring a whole new feeling to the same words of the same song.
One of a kind voice! Love her!!

Tanya owns this song. So soulful.

You make me cry. Tanya....
