+Stephanie iii to me you'll always have the one place that you call HOME. some places are ok but 1 place always had that warm, welcome feeling. My 2nd home is grandpas. I had great holidays there. My #1 HOME is my child hood home. Yes I moved in when I was 3 but i learned so much there in my 20+ years there. I fought my parents growing up but I would trade those lessons for anything. Dad taught me to be strong & a work-a-holic like him. Mom taught me how to survive. We didnt have much & yes it was kinda run-down. But Id give anything to have that house back so I can pass those same lessons on to my kids. Mom & dad watching from heaven.

I buried my Siberian husky, Gus, under the oak tree in our backyard. He lived to be 16 years old and was such a good dog. My first and my only dog. When I heard this song a couple years after he died…..I bawled and every time I hear that line I still get tears in my eyes.
This song makes me cry every time I hear it. I pass by my childhood home about once or twice a year. The shutters are painted a different color now and I am sure the swingset in the backyard is long gone. But I would do anything to walk in there again just one more time 🏡💕
Man....I have a chance to get it. Dad still owns it but I’ll fight for it with everything in me. I’ve stopped by. They moved the shed my uncle built. It was in the front yard now it’s in the backyard. I’ve peeked in the windows. Interesting the only window with a hole I could see in was my old bedroom. No one was living there. But the thing that really gets me is when I stepped into the shed. I looked down & there was a covered wagon made from canvas. Without a doubt I knew that was one of moms. There is no fence. Call it distorted view but as I looked out from the shed all I saw was cujos house. In the backyard all I saw was sandys house. Where she gave birth to her puppies. Where for so many years I argued with my parents that cujo was one of her puppies. Wasn’t till close to they moved out they finally realized I was right. Where the mulberry tree is that springs every summer. It hurts to say but where my pet cat Boots is buried. I admit the old me couldn’t handle this but I had to grow as a man to a point where I’m almost heartless so I could handle it.
Miranda is so beautiful her voice is so much better then gwen s also no lie , its truth miranda looks so real gwen looks fake like was a man before long arms weird looking
The house that truly built me was a 4 room house with no running water and therefore no bathroom but a path. I lived there with my parents and 5 siblings from age 13 to age 19 when I married and moved away. My Dad worked hard to feed and clothe us and Mom was a good mother and loved us dearly. We knew we were loved and felt safe with them. I sometimes long for that simple life when we could sleep with just the screen door latched, worked in the summer to put up food for the winter, went to church and heard Daddy pray over our food.
So similar to mine. We had plumbing problems but my parents gave so much love in that house. I made mistakes I regret but I still maintain my goal to one day buy it back.
Sadeluvsrosie〈3 EVERY.TIME!!!!!! It is so emotional and can touch each of us, cause we've all been there! Wonderful writing and excellent voice to back that up!
This performance was the first time I ever heard of this song as well as her. That very moment, I fell in love with this song. This is the first time in years I've heard this song and like back then, I start singing the first verse and it all goes down hill from there. Tears galore.
I could have written this song. Drove by the home I built and in which we raised our family. The pets. The games. The holidays. It’s a different color now. I built that home. I built it. My life was the best in that house. God I want to go back.
I watched behind the music on Miranda and she told she heard this song on a demo CD of Blake's. As soon as she heard the song she was overwhelmed w/ emotion and said the song fit her life perfectly. Blake told her she had to record the song and gave it to her. IMO it's the best song she's ever done...and I'm a HUGE ran fan! ;)
Maybe the BEST C/W song ever performed.... I absolutely cannot listen to this and not remember the House That Built Me... I'm an old man and shed tears every time I listen to it...
My mom lost her house this year after almost 20years of living there and everyday I miss my old home and all the memories I had of it. Sometimes I dream that I am still there and I can picture myself walking up my stairs to my bedroom. Even though I am grown now and moved on with my life I can't help but still miss my childhood home. I can relate 1000% to this song and it always makes me emotional.
adrianna orozco I have an opportunity to get my child hood home back. Some company was renting it out but they never officially owned it. Dad wrote a letter to them but didn’t legally sign it over so he never lost possession of it. I want something to pass to my kids and prove my family I’m not a failure
This song connects to us all. The place as a kid where we felt safe and had fun. Even if it was running through puddles in the dirt driveway after a rain.

I just love this song, its definitly my most favorite by miranda. such an amazing performance. my favorite part is " you leave home you move on you do the best you can"
I remembered listening to this song when I was 18, crying, and moving with my family from 1) a town home that was giving me healing and creativity for a while, 2) hometown that I grew up in and knew almost everything there back then, and 3) my home state: Texas where all my family and friends were living and still living. The first time I heard this song was the day my brother and I sold our childhood home. Our parents built it in 1958 and we moved in in early 1958. I was 5 and he was 4. Both our parents passed away and we had families and homes of our own and had no more use for the old house. Nothing lived there except our memories. The day we sold it, I was feeling lower than a snake's belly and then I heard this angel singing this song. It tore me up and still does. and yes, our favorite dog is buried there.
One Christmas, my wife printed out the lyrics to this song and put it in a collage of photos of our old house and us growing up there. Best gift I ever got.
I would give everything I have away to be a kid again. Life was simple back then, catching frogs, snakes and shooing gophers in the back yard is really all I cared about. Mom n Dad bought and added on to a home they bought in 1951. We were raised in that house. dad passed in 1987. The dirty rotten high school bought out that street, knocked all the houses down, and put in a student parking lot that NOBODY uses. Mom tried so hard to keep it. They threatened her with Emminant domain. she had to get out and they didn't give her SHIT for that house. She never got over that, and frankly neither did I. Mom passed 9/20/20, at 98. Listen to the way she phrases her words with the notes, especially toward the end. Perfection. She's my favorite female singer and I'm happy she's finally getting the recognition she deserves. I hope it lasts a long time.

I'm feeling it .. took me back to Wansted Ave ..
this is a song from my past... I not singer... but these words are so impotant. HOME
true voice. amazing song. she is the future of Country music. thanks Miranda.
This song means a lot to me it brings me back home even thought i won’t ever be able to go back every time I hear the song I feel like I’m still there I will forever and always miss my first home which held so many childhood memories and it’s where my dog is buried and where I felt safe 😭
In spite of all the accolades and awards, she is still highly underrated. She is extraordinary.
This was the first time I ever heard of Miranda Lambert. I remember watching it on TV that night and I've never looked back :)

What a great written song and her performance was awesome!!!
Now this is Country Music!! Miranda is such a talent!
Not a fan of country music, but this song gets to me down to my core. As I search myself for a way to repair my "broken-ness". Great song. This song might just start me listening to more country music
I love her because we share the same name and the same love for music.
