BIMMER ZEIT i cant find the brown sensor.. can u just give me the name of it or a new link?
Thank you for the great video, i have a E30 M10, 318i, 1986, do you know why is very hard to start when the engine is cold?
Had the same engine, check your cold start switch
Liked your vid explaining the 2 sensor functions. I'm replacing both originals on a 91' 325i with 133K odo. Thanks!
Whats the part number for the blue one? On rock auto the coolant temp sensors dont say which is for cold start and which is for the gauge cluster.
Hi,
Are the torque values the same for the brown and blue sensors?
You mentioned 13 foot/pounds for the brown.
for the legs in the socket are 1 or 2, mine only has 1 leg when I tried it with hot water there was no change in the indicator but if the engine is running the indicator can increase the temperature overheat
What is the resistance of the brown sensor in 10°C ?
Great tip man, saved to my playlists. Doing this real soon on my e30
old and new temperature sensor, how many foot sockets on the sensor are attached to the thermostat
My m20 temperature does not move from half when im driving hard or at idle, i just changed water pump, thermostat, and timing belt. i also bled the cooling system. its at a constant 1/2 and a little below when driving . Before i changed the parts i was at 1/4 temperature at highway speed and 1/2 in traffic. Not sure to just leave it at that and not think too much about it since its not over heating. Need some help
i like to do both how much more will come out if remove the blue one do have video about the blue one...
Thank you for the awesome video. Exactly the information I was looking for!
Jim HALL thanks for watching Jim! 👍🏻👍🏻
Brown is easy to remove but the blue is pain in the ass. few minutes ago i tried to remove it but seems impossible without removing thermostat housing. Do you know what kind a tool i need to replace blue one?
What size was It?
Hi need ur help i have problem with blue one I change at the problem same happen when i take the wire off the car run very good when I put the wire car back Shaking engine again can u help me about that problem please
I have a problem with mine, I I do not get it to start on the first try it floods and I have a hard time getting it started again, also when it starts it smells very reach and black smoke comes out, I am just about to give up.
So if the blue temp sensor is failing or not working, could that cause it to not start in cold weather? And im not talking about just in freezing temperature like in low 50s
It helped a lot on my friend’s E30
Is there a way to test this sensors
Do more m20 videos!
I need 1 of those sensors urgently, can you tell me where I can get it online or the replacement part #?
Dwight Richardson link is in the description above to each sensor. Order with expedited shipping! 👍🏻
Sorry i'm not getting to here I can order 1 in this link, all I see are more videos. Help
Nice vid man I just replaced mine and now she's giving me a shit ton of problems like when I start it up only on cold it runs and idle like shit when I hit the gas it dies until I let the motor warm up
+vinny adams Did you ever find out what was wrong? My engine dies when I hit the gas also, and I havent replaced the sensor.
+WuzieRap I know this is a year ago. I had the same problem. I found out it was the cam shaft position sensor that was causing my car to die. it was hard to replace since the connection port was covered by all the hoses. so I replaced all my hoses as well as the cam sensor.
+WuzieRap it also might be the MAF
I just replaced coolant and water tem (brown and blue) senors but now it wont even crank. what can I do?
Dead battery? Likely unrelated.
how do i get to the thermostat housing on e30
Any idea how to do it on an m42? Thanks!
Sold my 318is M42 many years ago! Sorry Bairdogg.
Hey could you explain how to replace the blue sensor? i can't find a way to get it out..
Thx!
Did you remove the plug and fit a deep socket over it?
Yes I tried to but i can't fit the socket over it because of the injection box (Sorry for my english, i'm german ;) )
Jonathan Wagner I just removed the fuel injection harness to be delicate
Superb! Thank you very much. Best wishes.
Whats the part number of the sensor
Do you need to bleed the coolant after this?
NO
does it matter if you don't use a bosch sensor?
Yes, use Bosch.
could one of these sensors failing /acting up result in increased idle speeds? My m20b20 sometimes will idle as low as 1000, but more often 1500+, regardless of ambient temp. Today I replaced the thermostat since the engine was clearly running cold all the time. The temp now reads fine and it idled nice at 1000 while I bled the coolant. Took it for a drive, all good. Shut it off for a while (car wash) and then idling at 1500 again upon start. And warming up doesn't help, it ran fast all the way home... anyone have a clue?
mine does the same and im about to replace blue coolant temp sensor.. did u find a solution?
@@themegaabe1515 sadly no, good luck!
@@Barbu66 any solution now? My car is doing just that.
@@privilej9648 I’m afraid I never solved it before selling the car. Let us know if you figure it out :-)
@@Barbu66 I cleaned the ICV & the c191 plug. It had corrosion from water. no CEL & car idles fine! 🙏🏻
Are both sensors the same part number
no they are not the same part number
Thanks very much
how to do it in m40?
clean m20 nice
Is that you Dan?😀
i need a new radiator water nose for m20b25
The blue sensor is a right bitch to get to.
Does that sensor also trigger the computer that"s on the roof witch indicates "Check coolant". Mine is lighting up once a day but turns off when I restart the car.
no, the check coolant warning light is from the coolant level sensor, which is located in the coolant expansion tank. also, check my latest video if you have time! thx
Can a bad blue sensor stop it from starting up?
