Hey Frens - My "fix" stopped working after a few weeks. I researched this issue more and realized that no, 2.whatever volts is not enough on the SI batteries and they are, in fact, the problem. I switched them out with new ones and alas all is well! So let's move the slider on this video into the "entertainment" side of the board. I mistaked.
I put a M20 in a 91 318is and swapped in a 6 cylinder coding plug and it worked beautifully. This was years ago and it wasn’t your average m20 it was stroked and board to 2.9l with 10.3 compression and a big cam. It would destroy a stock e36 M3 but doesn’t even come close to my e46 M3. But I miss that car more than I like the M because I built it. Everything custom was me down to learning how to tune it myself. Not much other than cosmetic upgrades for the e46 M3. It's been voted several times on BMW forums that the e46 M3 won best BMW every built. There is nothing much I can do to improve it causes it is pretty good from the factory. Of course it has suspension, trans, engine and a few other mods but I am not creating a car you can never buy like I did with the E30. I really wish I could get it back because I would take it in a second.
@@CalmBMWRepair it had a factory glass sunroof vey rare. I had to buy a car to get it and I did and put a metal back in solid if and got my sunroof for free.
This was great! I have a fuel gage that’s erratic. Fuel empty light comes on so I’m hoping it’s just the ground on the bezel that needs cleaning and not the fuel pump! Thank you!
There should be a plastic carrier that plugs in above and to the right of the yellow socket. The green plug goes into that carrier. If you are retro-fitting you might need to find one of the carriers.

I was not expecting this video to be so enjoyable. Subscribed in hopes of more videos later!
We need more calm videos like this especially on BMW
More on the way!

What an awesome E30 and sad story to hear you don't have it anymore. This is a good reminder to hold on to the things you can't get back!
@@CalmBMWRepair definitely I had it for so long and I swapped it for a e46 M3. It’s superior in every way except I didn’t build it.

This video is a piece of art. 😅
The screw montage would've been more effective if "Eye of the Tiger" was playing.
Please come back, mate😢
Soon I will have a camera again. :D
@@CalmBMWRepair we are so back
I've never seen anyone take apart the cluster like that
Your voice and tone remind me so much of "RegularCar Reviews" guy.
I’m torn between wanting to relax or to go work on my e30. I think I will relax as I no longer own an e30.
I thought the mpg gauge was vacuum operated
Thanks for this. Doable, but a little too much work for me.
What plug does the green cruise control go into?
There should be a plastic carrier that plugs in above and to the right of the yellow socket. The green plug goes into that carrier. If you are retro-fitting you might need to find one of the carriers.
What specific batteries does the board take?
CR14250 if you have the later cluster with the 3v Lithium batteries. Fortunately, they are easy to source online with the tabs spot welded on!
