    You can also use a micro controller to map from one value to the desired value, then it would be right across the board.

    hello
    very good video
    I have a little project how I could create a shift light for my e30 325i
    if you have diagrams of the meter or something else that could help me
    thank you for this video

    Wow great info, presume oil temp gauge on the e30 M3 is a similar concept

    • @Garageaholic
      @Garageaholic  4 роки тому +1

      Exactly the same concept actually! But the oil gauge has the temp numbers on them already so I wouldn’t mess with it with in line resistance

    Frank,
    I cant wait to use your guide to do my own build, I have been dreaming about an n54 swapped e30 for years. Thank you for figuring all this out for me and everybody else.
    One question I do have is can the ECU you implemented accept the values MHD or JB4 changes?

    • @Garageaholic
      @Garageaholic  4 роки тому +1

      dubhummer75 Yea but once you flash over the Kassel CAs removal, you overwrite that code and would then need CAS

    Hi boss ,
    After making the swap, while the engine is running, my warning lights on the display (oil, brake, battery) appear for a second and then disappear. repeats this from time to time. But the vehicle does not stop, everything else works. What exactly could be the problem?

    so, for what I understood is, you have to install a potentiometer somewhere between the coolant sensor and the temp gauge?

    • @Garageaholic
      @Garageaholic  2 роки тому

      No - the pot was to demonstrate the change in indicator from gauge. I provided the resistance values in the video.

    I was driving my e30 today and i got spooked cause the temp spiked to almost the 2nd hash tag to the hot side so I eased off the gas and it took awhile until it went below the middle has tag, would you say this is normal for a M20 engine?

  • @hevendranarayansamy2793
    @hevendranarayansamy2793 4 роки тому

    Wow Frank. Very informative. I did not know this. So in the e30 are you able to get an oil temperature gauge as well with the current cluster? Does the e36 require the same amount of work to get the cluster to work?

    • @Garageaholic
      @Garageaholic  4 роки тому +1

      Integration of the oil temp requires a specific rear backing plate to work!
      I will actually be taking apart both an m3 and 325 clusters and compare them and I’ll let you know!

    Thank you for the video ! Is it also normal that the indicated temperature on an E30 316 Carburator (M10 engine) is almost touching the red zone before getting back to the middle (and then going to the red zone again etc...) ?

    • @Garageaholic
      @Garageaholic  3 роки тому +1

      Nope that’s not normal. I think you might have a bad radiator fan switch or air trapped in your coolant system!
