I really like how the Broadway version makes it much clearer that she's not *just* giving up her voice for a guy; she belongs in the world above, and I love that the Broadway version shows that.
Ariel has to discover how much agency she actually has in the Broadway version. I really like that message, especially for little girls. As much as I love the animated film, it can be read as a little dated for female agency.
@@frannyc7248 well, yes, Part of Your World definitely shows that she wants to be where the humans are for other reasons than a guy, but the rest of the movie is much less good at showing it than PoYW. The Broadway show shows it in several different places beyond PoYW
It’s like people don’t remember the song is “Part of THAT World.” She had the chance to be with Eric, said no and only went to Ursula after the blowout fight with her father. She literally pleaded to him that Eric would’ve died had she not acted to which Triton responded essentially “better off.” I think people want so badly for 1989 viewpoints to be outdated that they forget how the actual movie went…
Yeah, and that destruction scene would be less aggressive when King Triton only destroys the Grotto and blaming Ariel for being so much like her mother. In fact, he might say, "You are so much like your other. She was but nothing more than a fool, and so are you."
I mean, if the propose of the live-actions was about making film adaptations of the Broadway versions, it would be *SO MUCH* better...Instead of just making it "the original film with real people...AND ULTRA-FREAKING-REALISTIC"
Ariel: This is where I belong, Beneath the clear wide blue here! I feel completely new here in the world above! It’s like my life was wrong And somehow, now, at last I’m in My own skin Up here in the world above! There’s so much light here Light and space! The sun’s so bright here Upon my face! It feels so right here Warm as love... Life seems to be Almost calling to me From this strange new world above!

So excited, my local theatre group is doing the Little Mermaid Jr and Im auditioning for Ariel. I would love to preform this song, I absolutely adore it
Is there two different versions of this song? There’s a higher version which is really pretty for Sierra’s voice but she still sounds gorgeous in this version I also love the way the instruments sound in this version

The movie shows it too when she sings 'part of your world' people are just to stupid to see it.

If there is a Live-Action film of Disney's The Little Mermaid, let there be broadway music as its soundtrack

Unfortunately, it's not going to happen. The live-action The Little Mermaid will feature new songs by Alan Menken and Lin-Manuel Miranda.
It won't. They never include these.

Can we just appreciate how perfect Sierra Boggess was for this role?
the melody here is beautiful 😊 and gives me goosebumps
This was such a Broadway show. I Adore this soundtrack
This is my favorite song from this musical. Directly above “Part of Your World.” Such heartfelt evocative lyrics.

This song explains how I feel when I'm at a The Little Mermaid performance :)
I wish Jodie Benson would do a cover of this :(
I wish Vesela Boneva would.
Yeah, me too. ^_^
So excited, my local theatre group is doing the Little Mermaid Jr and Im auditioning for Ariel. I would love to preform this song, I absolutely adore it
The Little Mermaid JR doesn't have this song sadly :( but if you do get Ariel, "One Step Closer" is one to be excited about!
DuckiePops why would they cut it from jr productions?
DuckiePops The Little Mermaid Jr. Has this song... I did the play..
Little mermaid Jr does NOT have this song. I just did it last weekend. Your production probably added it in
@@leila-bi5mf Your production added it bc its not in it
Beautiful song and Incredible singing voice
I did this musical back in April and I played Sebastian in the show.
holy shit, we slowed it down A LOT for our version
play this at 0.75 speed, that's about how fast it was
0:48 is where the second verse starts lmao
Auditioning for Ariel tommorow! One of my top 3 dream roles...I'll let you know how it goes!
how did it go
So beautiful! Lol why does it sound like Starfire is singing it tho?! XD When she first discovers Earth!!
Anyone who's performing this musical, break a leg!!!!
I love what you do
The world above sucks I rather be in the ocean🌊 🧜🏻♂️🧜🏼♀️
I'm going to try out for Ariel for next year's performance of The Little Mermaid!
how did it go?
Our school has no singing tutor at the moment but the last one I had suggested I try singing this song - so I have ;)

song to apply boy gel to
The Actress Of Ariel Serria Boggess is incredible. Her & Jodi Benson should do a duet together
This song>whatever the remake gave us.
And this is where the story begins.
...
Eric: "Steady as she goes! Windward ho!"
Ariel: "A SHIP!!!"
And we transition to "Fathoms Below."
LewToons brought me here
Same! also auditions for a school play............
is this song up tempo?
Nope, this is standard tempo for broadway musicals :)
