      Sometimes I see people answering in the Q&A section and not understand that everyone automatically gets an email notifying them of a question then proceeds to get mad that the questioner doesn't realize how the question doesn't apply to them and then asks why the hell they are the ones being asked. 🙃

    It took me a year to notice that I was paying pretty much the same price as I'd get it as a Best Buy or Target or Home Depot. For obscure/niche products you often get waaaay better prices at specialty stores, but those stores are rare and infrequent and city folk rarely realize they exist.

    What I really hate about Amazon is how when you specify a name brand product they'll try and direct you to a low end knockoff instead, frequently with the actual counterfeit brand name much less visible than the name brand product it's "compatible" with. There's generally a reason why I'm specifying Stihl or Shimano or whatever brand it is that I'm willing to pay more for.

    • @antoy384
      @antoy384 9 місяців тому +2

      Actually they practice “mingling”. They “mingle” articles with the same SKU, whether they come from the official provider or from “resellers”. So if you buy a DELL screen, well, it could be a knock-off as long as the knockoff prints DELL on it and the same reference number.
      It’s probably illegal but no country wants to do a trial to Amazon.

    • @kevinmach730
      @kevinmach730 7 місяців тому +3

      It's gotten to the point that Amazon is greedy and companies with legit, in-demand products refuse to sell on there. So they try to suggest a cheap knock-off. I noticed this a few years ago and adjusted my purchasing behavior. Since you mentioned the cycling category, I was looking for a really high-end pair of cycling shorts a couple of years ago where quality was way more important than price, and I knew not to even bother looking on Amazon.

      Fits a trend, I think. I have been using Google searches professionally for over 2 decades now, but to find an actual phrase exactly the way I entered it, despite putting it between double quotation marks, sometimes takes me 4 attempts: (1) entering it, getting the results for a suggested search that changes a word, (2) clicking "Search for instead", getting search results in a different language that would be auto-translated more or less to what I entered, (3) adding "site:XX" with the country code of the country in which the language of my search phrase is spoken, getting results for only URLs ending with .XX but for the same suggested search as the first time around, (4) clicking "Search for instead" AGAIN.
      And sometimes that yields HUNDREDS of web pages containing exactly what I was looking for, so it wasn't a matter of Google helping me because it knew I wouldn't find anything if it did what I wanted.

  • @lforlight

    For those who don't know, gaming chairs are a total sham. They're designed after race car seats which serve a function vastly different to sitting in front of a desk. Race car seats are designed to center the driver and prevent movements what with all of the car vibrations and bumps. You actually need to move around and shift in your chair when you sit by a desk, to spread your legs or whatever is comfortable. When you put a race car seat on an office chair, you get very lousy results, and many people will report back pains soon after buying such a chair.
    Get yourself an office chair. Those were optimized for decades for the function of sitting in an office by a desk.

      Being an introvert does not mean you can't have a conversation in order to buy a product. It just means you are a more reflective person focused on your internal self. Even the most introverted person is still capable of social interaction and most likely enjoys it in moderation.
      If you can't even hold a simple transactional conversation without freaking out, then you have severe, crippling social anxiety and need help ASAP. Whereas being an introvert is just a personality type and not a disorder.

It's also badly weighted and you often feel like the whole thing is going to slip out from under you if you lean back just slightly too far. The pillows that come with it are about as hard as the chair and the neck pillow especially is needlessly fat so that it bends your neck forward at an uncomfortable angle rather than supporting it.

      This usually happens when someone doesnt see the stars and just writes a review.
      Could be a first time reviewer, or just someone who didnt see the stars. This happens a lot when a website automatically sets the stars to 1 instead of making selecting an option required, or hides the option to select the star aspect of the rating behind a button, or some other poor ui design choice. Sometimes you can find websites where most people missed the strs and its just a bunch of glowing 1 star reviews.

      Tbh, that's a possibility... But I've personally never had a product with "falling apart" reviews that didn't fall apart.
      Example: I had a pair of headphones that broke on the upper hand, and when I checked the reviews I found a couple with images of it broken in the exact same place.
      Customer support got me a replacement, and it happened again a few months later in the exact same place.
      I got one more replacement, and months later (never having had the product for over 6 months) it breaks in the exact same place.
      Only this time support says that it doesn't count under warranty, because it's "physical damage." Even though it's clearly a factory defect.

    The funny thing about those gaming chairs - and the reason why there's a billion of them - is that the margins on them are insane. There's basically a few companies in China that make them, and if you have the startup capital to order a large shipment of them, you can get whatever company logo you dream up rubberstamped on them and just start selling them on Amazon for a large profit per chair. Regardless of the brand, most of those chairs on Amazon are quite literally the same chair, with whatever color options and branding a given startup worked out with the manufacturer.

      @@rottingcorpse6565 - Well...not really, though. There's a lot of duplicate Chinese product on Amazon, sure. Art supplies are another example, there are a TON of cheap watercolor palettes on Amazon that are literally all the same paint from a Chinese factory but different art supply companies pay to private label them. And then some legacy brands started having their cheaper lines of paint made in China and the Chinese stole the formula and now there are Chinese dupes of legacy brands that are literally the same formula but cheaper.
      But those gaming chairs are an interesting case in that they are priced WAY above what they are worth, and yet are so popular that people still buy them routinely.
