I was completely overwhelmed at first but now I'm on the treadmill it's pretty simple. You get the gear and crests to upgrade that gear with what you are doing. Then when you move up you get the new crests to upgrade that gear that drops from that content. It feels alot nicer than looking at your 2h staff n thinking I need to run about 20 dungeons spread over 2 weeks to upgrade this . There's no world where this isn't better.

I did try the new raid on LFR to "check it out" and it was actually easy and fun for a casual gamer like me. I am going to attempt more high end content this patch and see how it goes.
Yeah, I don't know if people have finally got their shit together or what but most lfr runs have gone smooth so far. I got into one that already had 2 wipes on a boss but that was it.

I've skipped M+ and raids the last couple expansions b/c they aren't really a good experience for casual players to learn - and the great gamers are ruthless (including my husband).
The enchanted crests are one of my favorite things about this patch. I've been able to easily gear up a fresh 70 to about 405 simply by doing the intro quests to the caverns, getting enough whelp crests and just putting in work orders for blue items with the enchanted crests. It gets them m+ ready and only takes a couple hours, its fantastic.
@@travis88cards If you got some gold (it doesnt take a lot) you can buy some 379 items off the auctionhouse which are upgradeable to 398. Or you could save the gold and quest through the new zone which gives you basically a full set of upgradeable armour + upgrade materials while questing. It's really alt friendly as the quests are fairly easy and it's not that long of a questchain
@Travis Reavis I think what the original poster was saying is that enchanters can make a new crafting item that allows you to craft the normal blues to 405. He just makes the crafting item through enchanting and puts in work order requests for people to make the gear he wants.

Just quest enough, or kill enough rares/events/world quests to get about 6 or 7 whelp crests, submit the work orders to turn them into enchanted crests, and put work orders in to use those crests with the starter profession blues. At tier 5, those blues will be epic and have 408 ilvl. If you can, make sure to do your suffusion camp for a guaranteed(?) 402 epic, and if there's a world quest in zaralek caverns that gives gear (or a weapon like last week) make sure you're sufficient enough ilvl or else that weapon will just be a training matrix. Hopefully that explained it well enough.

Thank you for this video. As a brand new player (iLVL 388 prot paladin), this was a great source of information for me to evaluate my character and see what kinds of things I can do to earn better gear as well as level up the good pieces I already have.

the first part of your video is the most clear explaination of the new gearing i've seen. ive done a screen capture of the gear board you have put so i know which gear worth spending crests you should send the gearing explaination part to Blizzard . they will put it in the 10.1 page tittled "easy way to understand new gearing system" or "new gearing system for dummies^^

It's worth noting, the Fyrakk assault can be done on alts that you havn't got time to level. You can get 3 everburning keys from the forgemaster and loot the chest and kill the end boss for 2 405+ items. I've been doing this on my alts for the last month and on each one have around 8 405 items with many being 411. It might not sound much considering but it's easy XP and when you do ding you will have a 405 ilevel with plenty of flight stones to upgrade pieces too.

The UI on each item should also say what the items maximum ILVL is without having to go to the upgrade vendor so that people can just know to trash the gear or not.
Dumb system, you used to be able to just run mythics for as much valor as you liked. And the only thing holding you back was your rating. Now you are being forced to run specific level dungeons, with varying amounts of rewards based on whether you time it or not. Run three dungeons untimed, get one crest, upgrade one item,...one time. Succeed in three dungeons....two upgrade levels. And in the meantime, youve got all the hundreds of lower level crests just rotting in your bags, with the option NOT TO UPGRADE but only to downgrade higher level crests into lower level? Makes sense only to the braindead.
Why is it that Blizzard decided to not have flightstones drop in Heroic dungeons from any of the bosses. They make them drop the 389 adventurer 1/8 stuff but no flightstones. You even get that 415 Champion 1/8 for the weekly quest. Just an odd decision to me to not have flightstones drop there at all. I even see in the tooltip "Earned from completing PvE activities in raids, dungeons, and the outdoor world." It doesn't say Mythic dungeons, it just says dungeons.
The highest you can get through dungeon drops, is 441, if you do 17 and above. The highest ilvl you can get out of the vault will be 447 if you do a 20+. I believe PVP is the same numbers, but relative to their corresponding pvp difficulty. World content, not including the Fyrakk assaults is 424 with the weekly Niffen rep loot box (fully upgraded) otherwise the average gear drop will be 398 fully upgraded
As someone who swapped mains last second and has no tier that guaranteed piece is huge! Looks like it would be fastest to pvp for it though since it’s just 1600 rating. You can hit 1600 in a night doing RBG’s or spamming 2’s with a buddy. Likely I’ll go that route despite being a PvE player. In my opinion they should’ve made it 1800 for PvP.
I really want to raid this season but I'm not in a raid guild and the pug situation has been brutal. I was doing LFR in season 1 and routinely got kicked because my DPS was low. I wasn't dying or having issues with the mechanics, but I still got kicked because I was low on the charts. I was low because I needed gear! So I tried mythic about halfway into the season and nobody would accept me into a group or join my group because I had no rating. I was steamrolling through heroic dungeons but couldn't really go any further. There really is a gap if you're not in a guild. And don't tell me to just join a guild, the politics of guilds are why I left WOW years ago. I think there should be LFM for the first several keys so that it's easier for people who want to do mythic to get started.
Bro.. if you are getting kicked from _LFR_ because of low dps, you dont need more gear, you need to get good. Sorry to burst your bubble but its the only way to improve. A good player does mechanics AND dps, perhaps you forget to do the last part when you pride yourself of doing the mechanics.
Completely newbie here, I'm trying to understand how to enter to the Heroic raid, do I 100% need to be part of a guild at some point to do the runs ? or can I just queue as a player without guild ?
The only raid level you can queue into is LFR and currently only the first 3 bosses are available in LFR difficulty(more will come later in the patch). In order to join normal, heroic, or mythic raids you’ll need to be invited to a group. You can find a group by joining a guild or applying for one in the games built in party finder but be aware that you’re very unlikely to get accepted to a random party with no experience. Most people creating those public groups(called pugs) have an add on that shows people’s experience and accomplishments and they’ll only invite people who have them. There are some that are marked beginner friendly by you have to get lucky and find them
Not at all! Much better than valor system that stopped you from playing and upgrading as much as you want with a weekly cap. And it is very straightforward.
I do like how if you max a piece of gear but you get that same piece but with a socket or an extra stat (indestructible..etc) you can just upgrade it with flightstone. Doesn't make all the previous effort completely wasted.
I really wanted to jump back in for season 2 but this is just... everything feels so overcomplicated to a ridiculous point. Why do I need a chart to understand a gearing system? Why are there 20 different currencies in the game? It just feels too much idk
My main and #1 alt both did the raid in 10.0, and were at 400 item level. After 10.7, I have enough gear tokens to gear up about 7 of my other alts to 385. What I don't have to give them is the thing that turns 385 into 395, which for some stupid reason they made soulbound. Still they will immediately be getting 395 gear and better so I guess it's moot. I don't even bother to hold onto Explorer gear, and I feel like there's zero point to do anything "above ground" other than the Fyrakk invasion and the 5 heroic dungeons (as long as they award a champion item).
Fyrakk is bugged, New world bosses didn't drop any gear last reset for anyone and i did it on 9 characters, nothing dropped for anyone in all 9 groups.
This entire week for me, has been a total loss. Over tuned pos dungeons and bugs galore. For half the week I couldn't complete the stupid aiding the accord quest because the event would start and auto-despawn all of the mobs that were part of it. So it was impossible to do. If it wasn't for raid, I wouldn't of gotten any gear at all. Thank you Normal raid for not being complete shit.
I really don't appreciate the new crafting system. It's just too complicated to hold my focus, yet since coming back half of valdrakken is decked out in 420 crafted gear and I'm chilling with my il400 t1 raid gear 🙃

When they removed the ability to complete the Revival Catalyst weekly quest, they killed what was the best gearing option for my solo playstyle. The set bonuses were intriguing and cool enough to keep me going, with the further promise of some neat transmog options if upgrading past 4 pieces.... Now I'm supposed to jump at the chance at higher i-lvl gear *without* set bonuses, all the while having to deal with this ridiculous upgrade system? Hard pass. World of Warcraft: The Game that Giveth and then Taketh Away (tm) has been the game's motto in my mind ever since they started invalidating Legion Legendary equip bonuses.
thought you get crests fragments for every M+ or raid bosses. maybe you have reached the weekly cap of crests 10 per weeks this week if i have well understood
@@DaBigBabaB i know 15 crest fragments = 1 crest. the sparks(1 spark=2 splinter sparks) are for crafting gear. alreay used one to craft a weapon. so we can get crest fragments or crests with no limit? if its that way its a good thing cause no more timegating to upgrade gear
@@jorgiotoldo8636 complete crests rewards are not included in the limit, BUT they are limited. When it comes to weekly caps, you're still tied to it until they remove it like s1. For Splinters drop in Raids or M+, it ONLY drops when you're behind in the weekly cap (missed one or more week). If you did your weeklies everytime, you'll not drop splinters, it's only a catchup mechanic.
Hate the fact I had to resort to a video like this... Everyone in this game is in their little LGBTQRXZKI+ or however tf its written at this point cliques. Can't find any decent guilds that reach out to their players to actually get them involved. Felt like I dropped $150 bucks on an expansion just to re-open all the single player games I was already playing. Really hard to find a gamer home in WoW anymore. Even rolled priest to be useful. I think it's fun, but complicated. They should write in game when hovering over items where exactly can you get them etc.

Can you explain what you did? I just came back to the game after 4 years away and after hitting 70 i feel clueless about gearing up

Interesting. I am the opposite, I find the raids to be the most engaging content in the game. Mythic+ would probably be your best bet.

You can reliably get gear that is easily upgradable to ilvl 424 just doing the world content if that's all you're interested in.
Mythic +11 dungeons look like a strong breakpoint. You get Champion level gear and the Crests to upgrade to 437.

alts get to reap the benefits as well, as they can catch up on said slot without crests and at 50% Flightstone cost.

I really wanted to jump back in for season 2 but this is just... everything feels so overcomplicated to a ridiculous point. Why do I need a chart to understand a gearing system? Why are there 20 different currencies in the game? It just feels too much idk
My main and #1 alt both did the raid in 10.0, and were at 400 item level. After 10.7, I have enough gear tokens to gear up about 7 of my other alts to 385. What I don't have to give them is the thing that turns 385 into 395, which for some stupid reason they made soulbound. Still they will immediately be getting 395 gear and better so I guess it's moot. I don't even bother to hold onto Explorer gear, and I feel like there's zero point to do anything "above ground" other than the Fyrakk invasion and the 5 heroic dungeons (as long as they award a champion item).

Not a lot has really changed though...just currency type and upgradability of items...you still just gotta play to gear.

Fyrakk is bugged, New world bosses didn't drop any gear last reset for anyone and i did it on 9 characters, nothing dropped for anyone in all 9 groups.
If you do mythic dungeons will it count towards your heroic dungeons? Or do you HAVE to just rup through heroics?

This entire week for me, has been a total loss. Over tuned pos dungeons and bugs galore. For half the week I couldn't complete the stupid aiding the accord quest because the event would start and auto-despawn all of the mobs that were part of it. So it was impossible to do. If it wasn't for raid, I wouldn't of gotten any gear at all. Thank you Normal raid for not being complete shit.

Depends on class but generally it’s best to swap to 2 old 2 new, then to new 4 set. I’d say tanks are probably an exception but not completely sure

Thats by default in blizzard UI you probably have an addon or weakaura blocking it from appearing

I really don't appreciate the new crafting system. It's just too complicated to hold my focus, yet since coming back half of valdrakken is decked out in 420 crafted gear and I'm chilling with my il400 t1 raid gear 🙃

When they removed the ability to complete the Revival Catalyst weekly quest, they killed what was the best gearing option for my solo playstyle. The set bonuses were intriguing and cool enough to keep me going, with the further promise of some neat transmog options if upgrading past 4 pieces....
Now I'm supposed to jump at the chance at higher i-lvl gear *without* set bonuses, all the while having to deal with this ridiculous upgrade system? Hard pass.

the sparks(1 spark=2 splinter sparks) are for crafting gear.
alreay used one to craft a weapon.

@@jorgiotoldo8636 complete crests rewards are not included in the limit, BUT they are limited. When it comes to weekly caps, you're still tied to it until they remove it like s1.
For Splinters drop in Raids or M+, it ONLY drops when you're behind in the weekly cap (missed one or more week). If you did your weeklies everytime, you'll not drop splinters, it's only a catchup mechanic.
Hate the fact I had to resort to a video like this... Everyone in this game is in their little LGBTQRXZKI+ or however tf its written at this point cliques. Can't find any decent guilds that reach out to their players to actually get them involved. Felt like I dropped $150 bucks on an expansion just to re-open all the single player games I was already playing.
