Replace the Belt, Idler Pulley, & Tensioner on 4.0 Jeep Inline 6 | Found more Problems

- Today we went ahead and replaced the belt, idler pulley, and tensioner on my 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4.0 inline 6. The process is straight forward and easy. I would say a difficulty of 3/10. Some tools and some mechanical knowledge is necessary but for the most part anyone can do this. Mine had a bolt that would not come off the bracket that holds the tensioner. We had to remove the alternator to be able to access the bolts holding the bracket to the engine. Took the bracket to a vice and we were able to break the bolt with some heat and a breaker bar.

This old WJ is content gold for us. Keep it up man.👍
Thanks brotha! I have more of these coming 💪
I think this is what is going out on my wife's XJ. Does not look to bad!!!🤘🤘🤘
It’s not to bad to do! My bearing on the pulley was definitely shot and making noise on mine
Thanks! I over paid for a 2004 JGC with the 4.0. It was a lemon. I've replaced the rear axle, the rod bearings, currently working on the transmission fluid/pan replacement...the fel pro gasket keeps leaking. I might have put to much torque on it. Then I just ordered these parts from this video because it's whining really loud and I think it's the pulley or tensioner...can't really tell though. These videos help. Any tips my the interior roof liner falling down. I bought gorilla spray glue....so we'll see.
Have done this job I replaced the bolt a standard bolt to make it easier. Stay safe my brother
You are a smart man! I should have done the same😂
Nice work. Time for the battery cables! Those were a life saver on my WJ
I had my idler pulley detonate when I was in a drive through getting some food. The initial bang and subsequent screeching turned a lot of heads lol. Also, I have that same power steering leak. Hope you do a video on fixing it👍
Damn that’s really sucks! I’m glad I replaced mine before it went😂 yes sir next video Friday I believe
I love the body color Laredo trim.
Yea it’s not bad looking at all! Wait for the duplicolor trim paint video!
Bonjour, merci pour cette vidéo. Je vais attaquer ça tout à l'heure sur mon wj 4.0L de 1999 , il que 165 000 km au compteur. Encore merci .
I just picked up an 01 laredo wj last week for 700 and gotta do the skim delete too
Great video always great content
Thanks brotha
My belt on mine snapped to make a shitty elk hunt worse. 150 miles around trip to the closest auto parts store
No Way! That’s all bad! Definitely one of the first things anyone should do when buying a used Jeep😂
Great video brother great information good for the novice
Thanks brotha! This was new to me to😂 but it was simple for the most part
That torx bolt is a doozy!!! I stripped mine out badly! Fortunately i got a good grip with a pair of vice grips and broke it free and replaced it.😂
I hate torx😂
@@NajarOffroad They're great for construction but absolute garbage for automotive! Lol
Love your videos man .makes even an idiot like me able to do stuff to my wj 😂😀👍
What are you using for power steering fluid? They don't make Mopar brand for my 2001 WJ anymore.
Redline makes a power steering fluid for the Jeep wj's
@@mikeespo7728 I will check it out. Thanks
Please be more thorough. I've been having complications but have had to improvise. I love your videos but please show more of HOW TO then just pointing things out. I'm a Hella beginner. Almost done just need to add the belt but having problems
Wow can’t show how to put belt on when it says removal smh
